A massive easy game ? I wish !

Hello and how are you?  As the world starts brewing up for WW3, Arsenal take on Burnley for our penultimate game this season and our last match at the Emirates. KO 8.00pm local time.

I woke this morning feeling not too bad, (but nervous) about this one. For the whole of last week, after the torment and analysis of the West Ham game, I felt like I didn’t want to watch another Arsenal match in my life. But I will. How do you feel?

I think it’s the desperate need to win, and that each game seems to take forever, feeling as if we are playing with concrete boots on and the idea of going all this way and failing is tough to take. But it looks like it could well go down to the last day, and we all already know it means, we just have to win. Really it would be nice to chalk up five in this one and go to Palace with a spring in or step.

AWOL for the Arsenal are Merino, White, Timber! and Calafury. Beyer and Cullen are out for Burnley.

I phoned up statto HQ and they reckoned the Arsenal have an 87.7% chance of winning and Burnley 3.7% Next up, an end of season away day at Palace. SO COYG!

Mills

Well as I see it, a win tonight gives us 3 chances to win the title, We can win it by then beating palace or we can win it if City drop any points in their last 2 games. Three bites at the cherry with the big bite coming last. Palace are saying that they will play their best team against us on Sunday, so that’s disappointing, but in our hands it is. I’m of a mind that if we can’t win these last two games, we really don’t deserve to be champions. That said, I could care less if we drop points and so do City.

Try to enjoy the game and I’ll see you at the weekend.

Pedantic George.

  2. Great Preview lads,

Yep this game has been marked down as a gimme all season but now it’s here it doesn’t feel like it.

At the start of the weekend I was feeling fine but then I watched Sunday Supplement on sky and some female hack gave a few reasons why she had a feeling burnley would get a draw. Now I don’t rate her as a journo or thought her reasons were particularly valid but it just spooked the be Jesus out of me.

All the stats point to a convincing win for us and at any other time in the season no one would worry but the “what ifs” are taking up a large part of my brain.

Maybe I would feel better if Parker was still there, so that particular unknown wouldn’t be a problem. We do know that burley are generally poor away from home. They have fast wingers who counter quickly (which one of our opponents doesn’t) and have one of the best shot conversion rates in the division. Fortunately they also have the most shots conceded and most headers against in the league.

Again, I would feel better if we were scoring goals from everywhere but it seems like at the moment only certain players tend to get the goals.

I hope no-one is expecting a 7-0 this evening because of we go two up Mikel will shut up shop, rely on the counter (which we are poor at) and start thinking about the final two games.

The opposition in the last two games shouldn’t matter because we are better than them both and if we play to our strengths then we win.

Win tonight and everyone is invited round Jamie Vardy’s house to watch the Bournemouth game COYG.

  6. well Mills I’m very surprised with that line up, I think Gyokeres should have started, maybe MLS too.

If we do not let nerves get to us we should win this game, and win it pulling up. would also say if we can’t beat relegated Burnley at our own place then we probably won’t win the league and would not deserve to win the league.

  16. HT: Arsenal 1-0 Burnely

Havertz with the goal, its been nervy, we are almost completely on top, but not making many clear cut chances. We really need that second goal and if we get it early in the second half we could then run riot.

Kai Havertz with the only goal of the game, Arsenal 5 points clear at the top of the table, we could be league champions this time tomorrow night if AFC Bournemouth don’t lose to Man City

That was seriously poor football once again by Arsenal, artetaball at its stagnant worst, no willingness to go for the juglar, we made the game all about the small margins. But a win is a win is a win
