Hello and how are you? As the world starts brewing up for WW3, Arsenal take on Burnley for our penultimate game this season and our last match at the Emirates. KO 8.00pm local time.
I woke this morning feeling not too bad, (but nervous) about this one. For the whole of last week, after the torment and analysis of the West Ham game, I felt like I didn’t want to watch another Arsenal match in my life. But I will. How do you feel?
I think it’s the desperate need to win, and that each game seems to take forever, feeling as if we are playing with concrete boots on and the idea of going all this way and failing is tough to take. But it looks like it could well go down to the last day, and we all already know it means, we just have to win. Really it would be nice to chalk up five in this one and go to Palace with a spring in or step.
AWOL for the Arsenal are Merino, White, Timber! and Calafury. Beyer and Cullen are out for Burnley.
I phoned up statto HQ and they reckoned the Arsenal have an 87.7% chance of winning and Burnley 3.7% Next up, an end of season away day at Palace. SO COYG!
Mills
Well as I see it, a win tonight gives us 3 chances to win the title, We can win it by then beating palace or we can win it if City drop any points in their last 2 games. Three bites at the cherry with the big bite coming last. Palace are saying that they will play their best team against us on Sunday, so that’s disappointing, but in our hands it is. I’m of a mind that if we can’t win these last two games, we really don’t deserve to be champions. That said, I could care less if we drop points and so do City.
Try to enjoy the game and I’ll see you at the weekend.
Pedantic George.

so the squad and arteta and co went to a night club to celebrate last night and then in the early morning, 5am or 6am the players wandered along to the Emirates for a walk around and meet fans still there or still arriving or just on passing on their way to work. I suspect there will be a whole lot of rotation for Sunday, two second string teams may be on show at the palace

it seems Larne youth goalie Phoenix Blayney was part of the Arsenal schoolboy squad that took part in the Liam Brady cup at Hale End last week. He was on trail with us earlier in the season, he has been on trial at several EPL clubs, most notably Liverpool and Nottingham Forest, it seems the all want to sign him to scholarship forms this summer

reports that Arsenal are set to break EPL revenue records with up to £770M being brought in by the club in the league this season. And that a good chunk of it will go to a big new contract for Arteta, and that there will be a massive splurge on 4 top quality players this summer. a defender, CM, wide left and striker on the wish list

Ethan Nwaneri was back at the training center today, not sure if he can play on Sunday due to him having been out on loan, but he will get a league winners medal.

just a little title quirk, in 2004 Gael Clichy aged 18 became at that time the youngest player to win a EPL title winners medal, and now in 2026 Max Dowman becomes the youngest player to win a EPL title winners medal age 16

thats great news, i was worried they’d get away with it, especially when they employed the man city barrister for today.
would like to see Hull make the EPL again, never liked away games v Middlesborough, and even some home games v them have bad memories, like the game they didn’t have a shot on target and we lost 3-0, two own goals, think Edu with both, and a deflected shot.

Cheers to everyone—thinking of the people from this site and ACLF no longer with us.
Noting the little twists of fate that helped this come about, one of the first things I thought of was that Birmingham game in 2008—it was disgusting some of the stuff this club had to navigate in those years.
So in that spirit, I hope AW is there next Sunday. He deserves that recognition.
Btw it’s birdkamp, oneofus, big al (can’t use any handles with wordpress)

That’s very kind, Mills. It’s been a good while—three years? How are you?
I’ve stopped by a couple of times, usually to write a comment under one of your previews, but always ended up faffing around with wordpress (losing comments is annoying AF) and lost momentum.
This time I stuck with it though!
Consider me a regular visitor now…er, just in time for the summer break.
Yes, doing well and still kind of walking on air. Dunno about you, so much of the stuff about football that got on my nerves before now seems so trivial!
How is everyone? It felt like the biggest New Years Eve ever on Tuesday—I got super nostalgic.

Certainly lifted a lot of weight from the old shoulders. All those years, it wasnt easy for sure, makes me feel a bit sad looking back on it all.?Amazing how the euphoria kept building and building on Tues night into Wednesday. Incredible scenes at the Emirates.
Great to know youre back on board. COYG!

Yeah, what might have been and all that. With hindsight now I can say that down the years we’ve been insanely unlucky, or just hard done-by. And yeah, it would have been really satisfying to celebrate a big win with all of those people. Like you said on Tuesday, hopefully more will drop by. And man, it’s incredible that you have stuck with the posting so consistently, especially over the last season. Arsenal haven’t made it easy!

Thanks, my standard has been low though but it was all I could do, and George writing with me kept me going. Plus it became more and more about keeping the forum open, and each article just refreshing the page rather than prior games and their energy hanging around.
How people like yourself, Stew and Andy Nic etc did it week in week out at a high standard I dont know, impressive for sure. But Ed and Ian have been the life blood of PA.
Arsenal didnt makeit easy! (LOL) towards the end it was like going through some horrible torture, West Ham being the worst, I feel i still havent recovered!

Mills, the hard part, by far, is doing it regularly. Anybody can have flashes of inspiration occasionally, but showing up each time is what it’s all about.
And yeah, the same can be said for eduardo and Ian.
I’m really happy this place is still going.

Thats kind, but to me its a group effort, I couldnt have done this season if you hadnt have been co-writing the peices, and dont forget I also wrote to you to say I couldnt see the way foward but you said lets carry on.
But Ed and Ian kept everything alive and interesting, but also supporting and encouraging (thanks lads, it really did mean a lot, Im not just saying that) and for me one of the best discussions Ive ever had was one when when we all talked about positivity/ the harder realities of Arteta ball.
At first it all seemed crossed wires but then you could see we were all on the same page.
Sometimes theres been some dark old moments in my life this year and I was always glad to come on PA and find some friends here and I was always grateful for the chats.
Also Gee and Marky B, Amy O and Mr Nicoll popping on, Heady for the early part of the season.
Like you mate, Im glad we kept on, Tuesnight was one I wont ever forget and was glad we could all share it.

guys you need to look at the interview Arteta gave to sky, about 20 minutes long. Not sure why but I’m not able to get the link to it up here.
Anyway its clear Arteta was as nervous as most nervous of us on Tuesday night, he was not able to watch the city game, he couldn’t take it, he left colney and went home, but even there he was not able to bring himself to watch the game with his family, his eldest son Gabriel who has played for our U18’s in recent weeks was the one to tell him Arsenal are league champions.

The expected England squad with one place still not certain.
GK: Pickford, Henderson, Trafford
Defence: James, Quansah, Konsa, Stones, Guehi, O’Reilly, Burn, Lewis-Skelly (unsure).
Midfield: Rice, Anderson, Mainoo, Henderson, Rogers, Eze, Bellingham
Forwards: Saka, Madueke, Rashford, Gordon Kane, Watkins, Toney
Thomas Tuchel to confirm on Friday.
The final place in the 26-man squad is expected to go to Myles Lewis-Skelly, Trent Alexander-Arnold or James Garner.

as someone who doesn’t want England to win the world cup I’m seriously worried that with that squad they might just win it. The biggest reason is unlike all those other years England were bigged up to win it, this squad is not inflicted with a whole host of Spurs players who would bring their spursy with them.

I’ll be there with my two lads, they were just six and ten the last time we won the league but were lucky enough to experience it all.
At one time you could run along with the bus and get in front of it again to get good vantage points and still get to the town hall to watch the players.
Now the parade will start and finish at the stadium and with a possible 250,000 people there, a one time look is all you’ll get. So although I ‘m going for the atmosphere anyone streaming the parade will see more.

a little update on Southampton Spygate scandal, it seems a full investigation is to be held, as its felt that its highly unlikely that they only spied on the 3 other clubs during the season. A forensic look at the expenses to certain staff and their travel arrangements could reveal a lot.

Remember when lots of us from this site all met up before the game and went to a Lebanese restaurant that the other George knew about.
It was brilliant meeting up with so many people who I had only met because of this site. The food was brilliant the beer flowed and ARSENAL won, a brilliant day out. I will never forget it and it was all made possible because of Positively ARSENAL.
ACLF never knew what it created with it’s toxicity as George made a phoenix rise from the flames and gave us a place to support ARSENAL rather than having to argue everyday with the anti-ARSENAL ARSENAL.
