A Point Both Gained and Proven.

After a historic draw at ManCity, in this #UncensoredArsenal podcast, Blackburn George is swinging from two extremes; from outrageous enthusiasm at the massive effort it took to stop City from scoring to regret that it was a boring match of football for neutrals. But george is convinced that Arsenal has proved it has one of, if not the strongest defense in the league and defense win titles.

  2. Arsenal currently top of the league by a point, liverpool have a game in hand, AFC have 8 games left, 4 at home and 4 away.

home games – Aston Villa, chelsea, Bournemouth, Everton

away games – Brighton, Wolves, spurs, man utd

we probably will need to win all 8 games to win the title.

  3. in a three horse race at least one team will win all their games.

If that team is Liverpool we can’t win it anyway.

We have the hardest run in so if we win all eight it will be an achievement anyway.

Something in the back of my mind says we will regret not going for it during the last twenty minutes at city but I’m regularly wrong and I’m hoping I am again.

  4. Even a draw at this stage would put us out of the race. This is another hard game but certainly winnable COYG.

  5. a great result for us at Brighton, lets hope utd stir themselves for the liverpool game tomorrow, surely they have some pride left to get a performance

  6. with liverpool drawing at man utd it means the title is back in AFC’s own hands, just need to match or better the results of lfc and man city to win the league, easier said than done, but then its what title winners have to do

  7. we have the hardest run in and historically the other two teams have fantastic run in records.

Our lead is fragile but even the most realistic or pessimistic supporters must be starting to dream.

  9. Are you guys as gutted as I am by our loss to Villa? Given our current form I wasn’t expecting that despite them beating us in the earlier fixture, Worse, after scoring, they won going away.

  10. Always thought that this would be one of the hardest games. It was sandwiched between Bayern and they have a manager that sets his teams up well against each position they face. Even though Arteta disagreed I did see their energy levels drop as Watkins observed. The team are less effective when Zinchenko and Jesus play.

I was totally disappointed but not totally surprised.

  12. BB is correct we are less effective when Zinchenko and Jesus play. When they arrived at the club they took us to another level but we have outgrown them now and they are proving to be a liability now and it is aggravated by the managers trust in them.

I agree, unbelievably, with Merse that Mikel picked the wrong side but that was made worse by the managers inability to recognise that and change it earlier.

villa played Thursday compared to our Tuesday so how can it be that it was us that tired.

We played quite well in the first half but the decision making in the final third was awful and you could see things needed to change. It got worse when villa dominated the early exchanges in the second half but inexplicably it was them not us who made the first change.

  13. Felt like potentially many elements coming together, but no single isolated incident that caused the loss: the hangover from the Bayern game and the worry that some mistakes might be made again, as well as the 2-2 result feeling more like a loss(?) Emery desperate to be avenged, Livercrutches losing and the pressure of trying too hard to get on top of the league again, tampering with the line-up, Jorge might have aided us more if he had started(?)….

Arsenal looked great in the first half, but Emery got the sniff at HT and we know the rest. The second goal left such a sinking feeling, that I haven’t had for a long time. You? I started then thinking of all the people I knew who hated Arsenal and would be gloating.

So I went off and looked around on YT feeling sorry for myself and saw that Ed Piskor had committed suicide, and that event put it all into perspective.

I just hope we can recover and that we don’t implode again. But I’m sure the lads and Arteta feel the same as us which is a worry but also that they will (might) want to get up and give Bayern a shock. Bayern weren’t that great against the Kölle the other day. Coman and Mr Gnabry are supposed to be out, but we shall see. I have a sneaky feeling we might do it. Or is hope just a bit of a trickster that always leads you up the garden path?

    COYG!
