A great podcast lads but as a mid season review it’s a game to early or am I just nit picking.
Actually although everyone quite rightly should be positive it did remind me of the widely (wrongly) held belief last season before the ten game run in that we were guaranteed top four.
The other thing that absolutely stands out is that because we are playing well and are too of the league that everything Mikel and Edu did was correct.
Just because you go from A to B doesn’t mean you went the right way and I think it is still clear our journey hasn’t been along the right road.
Great managers can transform a team over a natural evolution and not cost the club millions and millions and lose the respect of many players inside and outside the club.
While the place we have reached is absolutely fantastic I still think the club has made lots and lots of mistakes.
As far as squads go manure, chelski, city and yes Liverpool all won the league with big squads indeed George should know even Blackburn had a bigger squad than everyone else when they won the PL.
Let me put in wrighting that after 18 games we can’t be favourites the league marathon simply doesn’t work like that.
Based on history city will string of wins together and we will get injuries.
The other thing is when people say Chelsea and Liverpool are crap at the moment well we don’t play both until April and their teams and their form could be completely different by then. Indeed each club we play could be good or bad depending on when we face them.
While I understand when people say don’t make subs keep our best eleven on the pitch but again football has never worked like this and when you’re struggling against a side like we were against the spuds in the second half you need to change it up, we got away with it at the weekend but that won’t always happen.
We must except Mikel doesn’t trust the bench and going forward that is a worry.
Before you all day (again) fuck me he’s a miserable bastard let me assure you I am absolutely enjoying the ride and I am jumping round the room and celebrating wildly ever goal and every win.

seems Arsenal have reached an agreement with Brighton to sign their Belgium forward Leandro Trossard for a fee of £21M plus up to £6M in add ons. If the signing is completed before noon on Friday he can be included in the AFC squad to face Man Utd on Sunday

The Trossard signing reminds me in a way of our signing of Brian Marwood all those years ago, he was not a superstar but was good enough to help us win the league title

spurs lost 4-2 to man city after being 2-0 up at half time. it means spurs in 5th are 14pts behind arsenal, having played two extra games. That is a damn healthy lead in the race for a CL place

Arsenal being linked with Jaidon Anthony of Bournemouth, he is a former Arsenal academy player, he was a regular starter for Bournemouth last season, but has been mainly a sub this year. He is out of contract in the summer so should not cost a lot.

Ian, you are right to be worried and I certainly got the gist of your anxiety. I think Odegaard also spoke about the drop-off in the second half, concluding that there was still plenty for the team to work on. It does seem as if it is part of a plan to play with huge intensity in the first half which hopefully allows for a lower octane second half, thereby conserving energy. The danger I guess is the difficulty of going up a gear again if needed.
I’m quite excited about Trossard as unlike many rumoured signings I’ve enjoyed watching him play in the past, and I can see how he would not only dovetail into the squad by coming off the bench, but also how it wouldn’t necessarily be the biggest disaster if he started games. Should ESR regain his former levels (always a worry after injuries requiring operations) then we would have a lot more depth in the forwards. This also applies to Jesus of course and I haven’t forgotten the impact that Nelson was starting to make. Those potential, exciting and legitimate attacking options also shed an uncomfortable light on our over-heavy reliance on Xhaka and Partey, a situation that perhaps does more than anything to ruffle the manager’s immaculately groomed exterior.

Arsenal are close to signing Spezia central defender Jakub Kiwior in a deal understood to be worth £20m.

Trossard deal confirmed, Kiwior flying in tomorrow with medical planned for over the weekend, and Arsenal are closing in on the signing of 18 year old Real Vallodolid right-back Ivan Fresneda. There also claims that AFC have contacted Real Madrid over a loan move for their 20 year old France International midfielder Eduardo Camavinga

with Newcastle drawing their game v Crystal Palace today, it means Arsenal with a win tomorrow v Man Utd would go 11 points clear of both Newcastle and Man Utd in 3rd and 4th place, and 17 points or more clear of all others in pursuit of a top 4 CL place finish. A win would really set AFC up for the second half of the season.

Jakub Kiwior was at London Colney much of today, and his move to Arsenal seems very close now. He is normally a CB but last season he played 20 games as a DM, he has also played some games as a left back. The reported fee is around £20M

19 games played, the half way point of the season, W16, D2, L1, PTS 50, repeat that for the second half of the season and we are guranteed to be Champions, if we take anything off man city we can win it with less than that.

really shouldn’t be talking about a title win yet, but top 4 is something that we can talk about, we are a full 17pts clear of 5th placed spurs, and 21pts on 9th and 10th placed liverpool and chelsea. Think about that, 21pts is 7 games, the 17pts on spurs with them having played one more game than us is equal to more than 6 games. So it would take the biggest drop off in the history of the EPL for us to not finish top 4.
We are adding players, hopefully we get in a few more to boost our title challenge even more in the next week or so, by the way new signing Trossard involved in our winner today too, nice little start for him. Kiwior set to sign too, and rumors of 2 or 3 more incomings. Cedric expected to leave.

half way point of the season and we have yet to play Man City home or away, and Everton home or away. If we get points of each of them we will have taken points off every team in the EPL this season, if we beat both of them we would need to beat Newcastle and Southampton to have beaten every EPL team this season. Now that would be a great thing to do on the way to a title success. Yeah I know I’m getting way way ahead of myself, but damn isn’t that what being a fan is all about

we had 24 efforts on goal today, utd had 6, in fact Nketiah had 6 efforts of his own, delighted he got the winner today, think that makes him our top scorer in all competitions this season

Don’t think I’ve ever felt so physically sick during a game! We played some amazing football at times and the last 10 minutes all-action stuff pressing for the winner was really something. And credit to Man U too who more than played their part in a super-high-octane game. Best performance reffing us I’ve seen from Taylor too.

one other good point to note, none of our players hit the 5 booking mark for the first half of the season, so no suspensions for yellows till they reach 10 bookings
talking about bookings, Arteta gets a yellow today cos of the media fuss the last few weeks. Says it all about the PGMOL

Saka scoring three goals in consecutive games joining Freddie and Thierry.
The other record broken was when Eddie scored the winner Mikel was in his technical area that’s the first time that’s happened since he returned to ARSENAL.

Arteta was asked if a team would need to get 100pts to win the EPL this season, well I really hope the winners this season gets 100pts, cos that would mean Arsenal will have won it, as they are the only side that can reach 100pts

This team and manager are truly amazing. A huge points haul for half a season. Some standout individual performances, and a great team effort and huge heart and focus.
And pissing off Richard Keys, who seems to be trying to referee our games. What a great day to be an Arsenal supporter
