Positively Arsenal 
I know some are not fans of Arteta, but he is not having a lot of luck.
A Covid outbreak, other injuries, consecutive matches against the Champions of Europe and England ( yes I know about Brentford) and yet another appalling decision by the officials today.
I am not sure many managers would do a lot better with what he is facing at the moment , we always seem to be injury hit facing full strength teams these days.
I don’t see Arteta lasting the season, but would prefer to judge him after him being given some kind of a break, and being able to field a stable team for more than a game with these players, and I don’t mean the type of break Stoke inflict on out players , because in this streak, that looks a likely outcome.
Some might say Arteta is the author of his own misfortune, but how much more atrocious luck ( in relative terms of course) ?

That’s as flawed as it gets, eduardo…echoing the media narrative will never get us out of the quagmire they’ve led us into c/o our naive owners.

Aman are you suggesting Lacazette when fit would not be in our match day squad, or are you saying he is a certain first choice player, as I don’t see him and Aubameyang being both starters in Arteta’s first choice team this season, Saka, ESR and Odegaard all very likely to be first choice, that means its one of Lacca or Auba, and its more likely to be our captain than Laca

Whoever is on form starts for me. It’s a 25 man squad. Laca was the most efficient CF in the entire league last season as well as our top scorer. All with reduced minutes. The only reason the negativity exists is the same reason we lost Mesut. And with Auba not scoring, it is backfiring as approved by Karma.

Eduardo. You are right, it is possible they all caught it from one person but on the other hand, why on 5 down with it? The delta variant is virulent, so if one person in a group has it, then the chances they all get it.
Yes, some people have no symptoms, but are the club not testing the players every day?
I am sorry, Mandy, but you and many others continue to bring out the same old excuses, how unlucky Arteta is with injuries and its and that and the referees.
Do you imagine for one moment that even if he had all of “his” players available he would play a settled team or rather tinker around with the team from game to game as he has been doing since he came?
Look at how we play, game in and game out. It is the same rubbish whether Partey is playing and whether he is not. How many of the injured or ill players are guaranteed starters?
You have a squad of more than 20 players so that if players are injured, there is another of nearly equal ability to take his place.
Nobody likes to remove a manager, but surely after all this time and with the dross being played every game, how can anyone still make excuses?

Eduardo, saw a few things around the turn of the year with some very nice attacking moves, thought we were excellent at home to wolves until the official inevitably intervened in a way I haven’t seen before or since.
A revival at the end of the season, but unfortunately our main striker has hit a funk which doesn’t help, one could cite lack of creativity, but he has missed sitters.
But a lack of creativity which I hope ESR Saka Odergard will help solve.
Arteta has a lot to prove, but my main point, don’t hang him- yet- on a freakish set of circumstances even for this injury hit squad over the years, this would test any manager, nine players missing, yet a cheating ref and a badly missed header we could have done better today.
For what it’s worth , I doubt Arteta will last the season, but a new man could be new problems. Then, Refs with agendas, Misfiring strikers. The media jumping at any opportunity, including that proven managerial genius, Gary Neville, and the man who uses the faces of the general public as his personal spittoon, Jamie Carragher.
We will lose, possibly heavily to city , go into the international break bottom of the league , if Arteta doesn’t pick things quickly up after that, I am guessing a new year, new manager, though I dread to think who that will be, my fear would have been Henry, though his siding with Ek might save us there

jjgsol some are more prone to getting than others, like with all virus, most of our players are double vaccinated some only single jabbed, that may have led to some of them getting it and others not, also whoever was the typhoid Mary may have had more contact with those players who contracted it, they could have been in the same small training group, they may have been closest to other in the changing room, they may have sat at the same table, who knows
as for testing, it takes hours for results, they get tested at Monday training, it will be after training has finished before the results are known, it means Monday’s testing will impact more on Tuesday’s training, also we have the false negative results happening.

Jjgsol, you may not like Arteta, but the guy has been massively unlucky compared to teams he would wish to compete with, who else has 5 players out with Covid, a key signing never injured at AM, constantly injured here. Tierney ,Auba…Malaria and Covid.
Yes, some things self inflicted, Willian, but I don’t remember Arteta ever being able to field the same team for any amount of time.
Referees cannot be discounted…top for red cards, by a distance..think they were top for yellow too, quite amazing when you see what the likes of Burnley and Chelsea get away with …really, this dirty team every pundit on the planet says are meek and lack any physicality?
Arteta has his faults, and prob won’t last but whoever replaces him will have a bloody hard job with what he is up against, and won’t win a trophy in his first six months Either.

Mandy I do not recall a single game under Arteta where we dominated attacking wise, where the opposing keeper had to bring off lots and lots of great saves to stop us scoring, but I’ve constantly seen Arteta say that the two shots we had on target should have got us something out of the game. I would say that we have been that boring under Arteta that any half decent forward play gives us far too much hope, we think its way more than it actually was.
We have not won a single game under Arteta where we were behind at half time, and I would suggest that in few if any of those games did Arteta throw caution to the wind and bring on extra forwards, or just go for it, risk a bigger defeat, no charge of the light brigade, in fact I seen Arteta praise himself for the fact we no longer lose heavily, he is willing to accept a loss by one or two goals and not risk losing by 4 or 5 by using a charge of the lightbrigade in an attempt to salvage the game. His subs just like today are like for like, same tactics, same formations, same paint by numbers football.

we beat them yes, but we did not dominate the games, we did not pepper their goal with shots, we battled well and got the rub of the green. The problem is that it seems Arteta’s game plan needs the rub of the green, needs that one or two good chances we create to go in for us to beat anyone.
A big problem is that Arteta is a negative coach, and seldom are coaches inclined to throw off the shackles when on a poor run, we are far more likely to be more cautious and try and eek out 1-0 wins.
We play WBA away on Wednesday in the CC, and we really need to win that, will be interesting to see how Arteta approaches this game

The real reason why the negativity exists is the same reason Mesut was hounded out. Similar methods are employed by the 2 Spanish giants to cover up financial shenanigans. Now that Auba is not scoring, ain’t karma a bitch!

Arsenal would sell Lacca in the morning if they could get a buyer, I’d say same applies to Auba too, one cos he is out of contract next summer, the other cos he is over paid and both cos they really do not suit Artetaball, its an old style CF that is needed for that.

I beg to differ Eduardo. Where does it stop? Getting the best out of the best of what we have is more important. This is what separates the good from the great. Managers, clubs, businesses, countries, or families.
Any CF is useless without the necessary assists…AM + Wingers, who are in turn useless without defensive protection…in CM, DM,CB + fullbacks.
We are extremely close to filling all these positions with quality.
Specifically, a box-to-box CM, a CM/AM +/- a RB away.
Arteta may not be the tactical master to maximize what’s being put in place but he and Edu have brought in good players who need our support.
The Arsenal haters created and have been feeding on their negative narrative since Arsenal dared to step up its game, build a 60,000-sitter stadium under-budget (@£390M), not deal with parasitic agents, and qualify for the CL every year despite selling it’s best players. Oh AW had to go, as does anyone making any positive strides at this “threat-to-the-corrupt” establishment.
All carry-overs from Yogi’s ACLF know all this verbatim.
Truth is, like our players, gooners worldwide will need more grit & guile to navigate through all the BS at play. With or without MA at the helm.

Saka was the weakest link in defense yesterday.
He is clearly not up to speed yet and needs to be eased back.

Before the season started I was fearful of the Brentford game and not at all hopeful that we’d get anything out of the next two. I imagined that we would have no more than one point (oh, what wishful thinking) after the first three matches, but the international break, and the likelihood that some positve transfers would have been done by the end of August, would allow for a regroup and then a steady improvement which would see us quite nicely placed after 19 matches. Given that I hadn’t foreseen quite so much disruption from Covid and injuries I am not at all surprised to see us where we are right now.
It is clear that a big shake up of the playing staff is taking place, and that we seem to be going with a young team who have their best days ahead of them. It could still turn out well, and to that extent I remain optimistic.
What does concern me though is the effect that these early losses – and the invevitable negativity that comes hand in hand with them – will have on the players’ morale. Demonstrably poor refereeing decisions may also begin to play on their mind and create a sense of apathy. They could well also start to doubt the coach’s tactics and instructions.
I do not know enough about modern football to comment on tactics, but given the amount of serious money the club is investing in the rebuild I would be very suprised if they don’t look to change the manager sometime very soon in order to reinvigorate the players’ belief.
