Well now then, what an enjoyable watch that was.
It’s a pleasant change to see us dominant in every area of the pitch.
A much changed team was streets ahead of the 2nd tier opposition, who were, to be fair, poor on the night.
I felt Torreira was off with his passing, but scurried well. Other than that there can be no complaints.
Ozil orchestrated the game and it was a joy to watch. I don’t think he lost the ball even once in the first 45.
Chambers did well yet again, Mustafi and Holding both had no problems and Tierney made a mightily impressive start to his Arsenal career.
In fact, they were all impressive. I loved every minute of it,and Hector came on and immediately contributed with an assist.
More of this please.
Dead right…………..why was Ozil taken off?
Torriera without doubt the only reliable senior DMF in the club.

A top night for Gunners everywhere!
Once I finish my work I might even get to watch the highlights!
Have liked what I’ve seen of Edu’s signing from Brazil, another exciting talent with bags of potential.
Lots of exciting attacking players at the Arsenal.
And Chambers too. He’s not bad. One point off fourth last year…what prize plonker let him go out on loan when you had a one legged skipper leading the line (who was still better then Luiz with two legs!)? Negligent football relations on display there.

Thanks for the previous comment sharing your experiences.
Torreira is a not starting quality for Emery ATM (see Rambo and Ozil last year)
He’ll be back in the team when Emery’s job depends on it

that tackle by Robinson was a disgrace, no attempt to play the ball at all, just took the kid out of it, one of those that could easily have ruined a career, no wonder Saka was upset about it

Sounds great night.
Tinges joy a bit that Smith-Rowe got nasty knock and, apparently, some twat put in awful ‘tackle’ on Saka and only saw yellow for it. Same player involved both times I think.
Relieved Saka ok, but still troubled something’s there in the culture which makes it so much more likely some bum will put in a horror challenge on one of our youngsters than against other teams. A yellow for what by sounds of it was red just feeds into the cycle.
Worst of it is, quick look confirms the bum in question has had some very serious injuries- including a 9-12 month knee injury- in his career. Dickhead.

Fins, Martinelli is indeed a talent and a natural finisher but I didn’t see him pass once. I’d of taken him off after 20 minutes I’d had enough of him already, it’s what turned me off Limpar and Sanchez always took one too many players on and lost the ball.
On the Saka tackle, we were on the break and the Robinson had to stop it, Saka had several options and had to get rid quickly to keep the move going. He will learn in those situations there’s always some thug behind him waiting to mug him.

Emery on Chambers – ““Tonight I told him when he played at left back be calm here, help and support Bukayo, give the ball to Ceballos. He was overlapping lots of time. He didn’t listen to me!”

The more they don’t listen to him, the better they play! Torreira today played the DM role extremely well, was central most of the game, stayed back and did well. Seeing Chambers turn into Robinho near our corner flag was nice. It boggles the mind that we’ve been seeing AMN play out of position each match so far when Chambers a real defender has been sitting.
Anyways I feel we’ve finally have seen a true Arsenal performance. May we build on this and continue !

I know it’s only lowly Nottingham Forest, but it was nice to see an Arsenal team passing the ball and playing the way we know they can. I wondered if the fact that the majority of players on the pitch have been at the club and played together for a while had anything to do with it?

Cheers PG. It was!
First time I can recall in ages that the whole game was enjoyable. I went into the game thinking it would be as enjoyable as something really unenjoyable. You know, the tedious CC, worse than the EL, the long drag thats been Emery world since last Xmas. Grrrr!
But no! These lads had other ideas. Great night for Chambers, Hector and Holding, Mustafi looked comfortable too. Shame the captain was hauled off, but whats to be expected with Emery at the helm? Shame about Smiffy, hope hes alright. Saka looked good again. A bowl of diamonds.
Much better than the regular first team as far as unity and solidarity-after just 10 mins or so after KO I didnt feel nervous. OK Forest werent at their best, but only because they were ground out of the game. Shame Corporal Jenks was there to make a cameo…
Also a lot of hugely likeable lads in that team last night, the sort you can get behind. Dont get me wrong I like all our guys, but there was something right about last night with the ability to expand in the future.
And we all know what it is….
Have a great day everyone!

Hopefully the young Brazilian kid will subtlety benefit from playing alongside Aubamayang for a year or two, same as Willock did from training, watching and playing with Rambo, would’ve been nice to have had a longer spell under Rambo as he’s a couple of seasons off playing as B2B CM week in week out but again the potential is there for Joe.
I was excited when Willock broke through under AW. He was ignored in favour of Matteo (alongside Xhaka when the rookies should’ve been rotating if playing at all ahead of senior CMs) a call which made as much sense as the calls with Chambers, Ozil and Ramsey for me, the continuing use of AMN over Chambers or Mustafi at RB whilst Bellerin was out etc.
Yep it’s true the Arsenal have an academy full of skillful talented Footballers and some exciting Footballers who’ve been bought into the club.
To play Football.
I see that other fraud Poch is crumbling, not before time. the pgMOB and the funny papers are not enough by themselves to coach a Football team.

Poch struggling even under the pgMOB VAR system.
Honestly can anyone who has watched his teams attempt to play some Football (the CL final was a personal favourite. All 35 seconds of it!!!!!) say that they are surprised? Ignoring the lack of investment in his squad, they were crap at Football before, they are crap at Football now, it’s just going to be a little bit harder for them to dive copiously all the time, every time, on every play, in every game.
I hope!

Rob Holding has revealed that the players held a blind ballot to pick the new captains, this really could be rod for Emery’s back, what if Ozil is selected as the main captain, or any other player Emery does not see as first choice

it seems the secret captains poll was held 2 weeks ago, so why had Emery not named our 5 captains, has the result not suited him

That’s a terrible draw, not because it’s Liverpool away but the lads who performed so admirably against Forrest probably won’t get a game. Secondly for any first teamers who do play it’s an extra game we could do without. Thirdly Colchester and Crawley must be gutted.

ian I would say the team selected for the next CC game would have been the same regardless of who or where the game is, it will be whichever 11 is not starting in the BPL at that time

Did anyone see that kid Elliot for Liverpool last night? Looked pretty good. Klopp will have the OX on again against us. Ive often wondered if he wishes he had stayed with us?
The Dons missed masses of chance last night though, and to be fair the Scousers did too. But that makeshift Liv team was for the taking. Blunder of the season for the Dons goalkeeper.

I’d rather not have drawn Pool, there, at this stage.
Strongly feel best course would be to pick similar team to other night though.
If Liverpool then went near full strength we’d be in big trouble results wise, but so what- young vibrant team still gets great experience. Gives us a chance to go there and play more adventurously with little harm done if that weren’t to go well
All being well, Tierney, Bellerin and holding may be in first 11 by then I suppose, so that would impact selection as well.
Picking near full strength ourselves and losing seems only result that’d be a real downer.

Even if it was a full strength Liv steam Id still be interested to see what the defence from Tues could do. Would be a good test for them also.
West Ham were terrible against Oxford. Sometimes I wonder if the PL teams shouldnt be playing in it? But it does give a chance to younger/squad players which is alwas interesting to see.

any of you here ever played pickleball, I’ve recently taken up the game and am really enjoying it. A game for all ages and fitness levels,(many older people are taking it up as a way to keep active or improve fitness levels)
The skills of the game are easily picked up, especially if you have played any racket sport before, or even table tennis. But even those that have never played any sport are able to take to this game. Its played on a badminton sized court, with a net 3ft high. The pickleball paddle looks a bit like an oversized table tennis bat, and the ball is about the size of a tennis ball but is plastic and has holes in it. Can be played indoors or outdoors.
I advise you all to give it a go if there is a club in your area. Its a much bigger sport in the USA than it is in Europe at this time, but is growing fast in the UK and across Europe.

Looks pretty good Ed, like quite a fast game too -but not a power game like tennis.

there is lots of power shots in it, but skill normally defeats raw power in it, the game requires a lot of patience, especially around the no volley zone, known as the kitchen, where a good dinking battle is often won by those that play safe.
there is singles, level doubles and mixed doubles in it.

Anyone remember these? They sure used to write good theme tunes…at the time you thought these programmes would go on forever. Seems a bit sad listening to them now. All things must past.
And amazing that pre 84 there were three channels and two had sport on all Saturday afternoon. Makes it seem a bit basic but it didnt feel like it at the time. Same for the cup finals, both broadcast on the two main channels. The Beeb seemed to be slightly better quality pic. But Brian Moore was a better commentator. Jonesy on the radio was the best of all.
Sport on two, King Peter Jones, Bryon Butler, Jimmy Armfield, Mike Ingham. The only way to really know what was going on if you weren’t at a game.

Thoughts on last seasons’ fixtures against Utd.:
Away: The pgMOB show Emery their cards.
Fa Cup Home: a rare and notable occasion of an adventurous selection for the knock out game by Emery which didn’t work, perhaps not considering the competing teams’ respective forms at the time.
Home: during the “Ramsey & Ozil save my job please” period, I think.
Who knows what to expect this time round from both teams, hope the starting selection doesn’t hinder the chance of three points as per the patterns since last season, the bookies have the best odds for the Gunners going into this game for a long time. Fingers crossed. COYG.
