Is Stan Kroenke Now Arsenal’s Saviour ?

So the great new dawn is upon us. We have rid ourselves of Arsene Wenger and his gang of incompetents, and replaced them with high class people that can bring us the success we deserve.

It’s absolutely fantastic. The players are drinking water, smiling, training hard, young players are involved and the manager is hands on on the training ground. These things never happened before , now did they?

That there have been major changes in personnel is undeniable. That they are all top people in their fields of expertise appears to be the case, they are certainly experienced with good track records.  Its more people with more individual responsibility and a coach with much less. Modern football? Or should I not say that because “modern football” is frowned upon by the “we want our Arsenal back” hoards. But I digress.

The point is almost every fan is happy, us included, the future looks bright. But what has actually changed other than our perceptions?

We have spent about £70m up until now, I suspect there will be outgoing and our net spend will be considerably less. So are we spending more? Is the new regime spending the money Arsene refused to? Seems not ?

Have we dipped into the £250m in the bank that should be spent on making the team as good as it can be? Seems not ? Perhaps that’s not for spending then, or not anywhere like that figure?

Are we competing for the likes of Marhez ,with City, or are we still buying from the second shelf ? It seems we are not and we still are  ! So what’s the big change?

Have we tied Aaron Ramsey down to a new deal, or is it dragging on? Dithering?

Now here is the rub, the moment many readers start shifting uncomfortably on their seat, searching for an answer that doesn’t destroy all their hard earned narratives.

If you are happy with all things Arsenal now, you have a certain Stan Kroenke to thank.

Without spending any more of the clubs money, and of its reserves ,or dipping into his own pocket for a single silver dollar, he has given everyone what they wanted ? Without being a football man or spending time at the club he has granted the wishes of the permanently malcontent.

His useless puppet (Ivan) is now the dogs bollocks. We are Kroenke FC , being driven by Ivan, and he is the very image of a none football man.

So if everything is rosy in the garden, and I hope it is, then we should be very much KROENKE IN ? He has come through big time and perhaps all the hate was for nowt?

  1. Really Eduardo, last I saw was that Nwakali was going to Porto and they wanted a buy option but we refused.

  2. rich, i dont think they are richer than us but they have cash at hand to spend than we do at the moment. again they have been very lucky with recruitment of players and sales. it all started with torres, then suarez ( we should have got him while at ajax) then coutinho and now salah ( they will get more than 200m for him if sold)
i dont see them competing at the very top for long because it is just artificial. once they begin to see themselves as title contender, they will stop selling their players in their prime hence make less profit from sales. for instance we could have sold jack for 70m to city 4 seasons ago but we saw ourselves as contender, same with alexis, ramsey and ozil. big clubs hardly make great profit from sales that help rebuild nd strengthen a squad.
we also need to hope we too are lucky with recruitment especially with the somewhat basement buys we are making now. remember we almost got mbappe for just 260k.

  3. yeah Marky, the reports suggest Porto demanded the option or deal was off and our stance changed from no way to yes. Could be just media in Portugal siding with Porto, but all reports now suggest they have buy option. As I said its not clear if that is a first refusal option if we decide to sell, or if its a set fee clause that Porto can trigger.

  4. lots of reports suggesting that Everton have bid for Danny Welbeck and that deal is progressing.

also Ospina has choice of four or five clubs, again with his move progressing and set to be done within days

  10. Rich, I was also wondering about Liverpool, especially with their stadium modifications, they seem to have spent a lot, especially compared with us on the stadium, but different time, different price of stadium mods I guess.
Not sure what their net spend is, I am guessing they have bought a lot in.
And they have a player or two worth rather a lot should they find themselves in any financial trouble
They have a very decent side, but so do we

They’ve definitely brought a lot in.

Suarez, Sterling, Coutinho account for just over 250 mill, acc to transfer market site. With our biggest three sales in that time period- Ox, Theo, Vermaelen totalling 70 mill.

Sterling more or less homegrown the other two huge hits in what was a very hit and miss period previously.

At it again with the good value if it’s correct they are going to get 12 million for their keeper Danny Ward. Signed for 100 grand five or so years ago, 4 wales caps, 2 appearances for Pool, one loan which I’m guessing was a success with Huddersfield year before last.

No idea why, and it could well be just luck or similar but we’ve never really got the benefits of inflated market for any sales. Maybe a bit with Ox, given only a year left, but I’m not sure on that.

But yes we do have plenty of good players ourselves.

Guess with them I’m just doing a crude calculation that they weren’t that far away last year, did better I think with Van Dijk in, and now may well have brought in three very strong additions to team. Don’t like the sound of it.

Liverpool seem to have a large abundance of attack minded players, some reports say more to come- Fekir? Thats a lot of talented players to keep happy unless some are heading out.
Your maths makes sense Rich, they have made a real killing on some players so their net might not be too bad, a CL final wont hurt either nor will world wide branding.
Not sure how they are funding the wage increases under the leagues FFP though, ok, I admit, I dont really understand the complexities of it, and looking at city, I am sure there are gaping loopholes.
I suspect that under Wenger and I would assume the wider club, we always tried to stick with what the clubs agreed to with FFP, in contrast to some, if not all of our rivals

  13. Re these deals:

That well known Trotskyist Gary Neville just said the FA should tax agents (how about some regulation for these multi billion dollar dealings…?) instead of flogging off that amazingly obvious pocket lining boondangle that is/was Wembley Stadium.

Built at the same time as the new Arsenal Stadium. For about three or four times the cost (eventually). Nice work if you can get it but I’m not sure I’d be jealous of such styles.

    I prefer the Arsenal “Values”.
    How about you?

moving to Wembley at a healthy desperate Fa discount was always Levy’s perferred option.
    Plan A.
Not an opinion, this was apparent to all:
It is why he tried to take the chuckle bruvvers to court (something like that) when he lost out on Plan B: the Olympic Stadium.

Plan C: was spending the Brexit inflated fee on a demolition and refurbishment project that is probably going to work out in the end more expensive then Wembley itself, I’d be too scared to dig into the real costs – currently forking out for overtime everyday? Plus healthy incentives to the local authority in one form or another so that they can bend the law and allow THFC to subject the local residents to 24 hour const. work. All in order so that they can miss their contract deadline. A real community club eh?

I feel great affection for Fulham and the twitching moustache of their owner at this current moment.

    Beautiful.

Imagine having so much disdain and disrespect for the greatest manager in the history of the football club that you support that you’d ignore a decade of evidence including interviews etc. and not know that club’s (not just the Arsenal!) do such things in pre-season. For a while now. No need to harass the poor retired dudes, or does it just feel good to be hobknobbing with the Great and Good like some kind of retarded celebrity hack working for the funny papers?

  26. Arsenal like many other BPL clubs head away on tour for the next week or so, starting on Sunday, the summer transfer window closes in less than 3 weeks, it closes on at 5pm on Thursday 9th of August.
We know AFC are unlikely to do much more on the signing front, according to Emery we might bring in one, max two more players if an exceptional opportunity arises. So our tour squad will possibly be more revealing in who might be sold. any of our senior players who are available but not included in the tour squad, are likely to be for sale. If any of our more prominent youths who do not make the squad may be available for loan deals.
with players still on holidays after the World Cup, and all these clubs on tour etc, the last week to ten days of the transfer window might be one of the most mad spending spree we have seen in the BPL.

What is not “normal” is and was the behaviour and conduct from these people towards the greatest manager in the history of Arsenal Football Club. I have considered if they are unwell, but I suspect that they are just idiots.

  28. well fins, I would say that the interview Tim did with the former players was the right thing for him to do, it was needed, it puts a pin the “everything is new and better” bubble, it makes it much easier to slap down the stupid cunts that spout the latest soundbite. Although I can’t forgive Tim for not asking them about the water, we all need to know if under AW our players were allowed to hydrate.

had to laugh yesterday at one blog that went with the line that all these training video’s and photos show that “Bould is now allowed to coach now”. The blogger must be seeing different videos and photos than I have seen, as the nearest I’ve see to any coaching involving Bould being done was one of the new guys explaining to Bould what the training routine was. Everything else is Bould standing or sitting beside the new guys looking on,

  29. Double training sessions have continued, but now, they work hard, dont come in late, arent allowed on their phones while on complex counter attacking drills, and bleep tests are no longer interrupted as they congregate to observe rare flora and fauna at Colney.
But I am confused, didnt the Dutch anti wenger fitness guru mouthpiece always say that Wenger overtrained his players, and trained them like Marines during pre season?

  31. I remember a joyous Arsenal supporter grabbing me and my friend and hugging us as we meandered down Highbury Hill upon our return from Wembley in 2014.

“Did you see that beautiful backheel from big Oli Giroud” he exclaimed. Or Larry as Steww would’ve said.
“How about the subtle dummy from our beloved Plodders for the free kick!” was my reply, whilst thinking that neither player mentioned had their best ever games but then again as big Oli just showed the whole world it’s not about the individual it’s about the team!

“You know what that was?” He asked, referring to both the backheel and the dummy from Podolski:

“It was a touch of class”

More class then any of these Arsenal holes who’ve spent years running down the last great Arsenal team under AW have ever shown. They have not been exhibiting these mysterious Arsenal “values” that can be easily articulated by drunken revellers.

Do these parasites have any credibility left at all?
    I don’t think so.

Any idea what schedule is for youth team/s heading off to Germany? Guessing there’ll be a game or two but maybe they’ll be closed door type affairs.

For some reason I thought a few squads were going over there, but then read something which made it sound like just u23’s.

Pretty eager to hear Zelalem and especially Bielek are back in action. Reckon Da Silva most likely leaving but would be glad if he’s involved.

Really feel he and Sheaf are a bit unfortunate in not being involved, if that’s case, in any first team training this summer. I quite like Willock, and he improved well last year, but from the games i’ve seen I’d put those two ahead of him.

Maybe the club, having seen more, see something different, or maybe they just want to stick with the youngsters who had opportunities last year (+Smith-Rowe).

We’ll get some answers in coming weeks I guess. Mavididi’s another. Sometimes we loan out youngsters with only a year left, which pretty much guarantees they’ll leave, and in cases where they’ll only have year left after loan (like Hayden) that also tends to mean they’ll leave.
