So sky sports are now getting their information from here now, well it’s about bloody time this site was officially recognised.

  2. Really interesting blog again lads.
I’m not sure when Parteys form dipped I don’t think it was immediately after the world cup but he certainly hasn’t been playing well for a while. I really don’t think you can give credit to Mikel for the “brave” decision to play Jorginho when in truth it was several games late, as you said.
I really like Aaron but he still has a little way to go to be the best in the PL and this game highlighted the other mistake we made as a club with Willock performing so well.
At this moment Martinez is still ahead of Aaron and Leno and Willock is way ahead of Pepe and Vieira. The bad decisions at that time cost the club a fortune.
Aaron is a great character though and I think he will get better for a long time to come.
We have all commented on what a disgraceful performance the officials put in so you are correct about that.
The was another game we proved we couldn’t be bullied and although we tried to play football where we could it was sensible for Aaron to kick long early on
Oh yes an X and J were wonderful

  3. Arsenal Women won 4-0 away to Brighton and Hove Women tonight to go 3rd in the table above Man City women on goal difference, AFC have 3 games left including away to Chelsea Women. League Winners go into CL, 2nd and 3rd go into CL qualifiers. Amazing that Arsenal women are even still in contention considering that we’ve played much of the season without several of our very best players, Mead, Miedema, and Little, in fact our
squad has suffered 4 ACL injuries, and Little is out with a knee injury.
Mead, Miedema and Little are considered 3 of the very best female footballers in the world.

    2. Chelsea Women, P19 GD42 Pts49
    3. Arsenal Woment, P19 GD34 Pts44
    4. Man City Women, P20 GD25 Pts44

  4. Yeah if they win two out of their last three games they are guaranteed third place and the CL qualifiers.

  8. To be honest hadn’t really expected Saliba to play again this season and just hope whatever is ailing him will get sorted in time for August. Be interesting to see whether it’s a straight swap with Tierney for Zinchenko.

  9. Defensively Keiran is better than Zinchenko however it will effect our midfield. We may have to consider different options to bulk up the link between defence and attack.
It also leaves us short in both full back positions however with two out of three games at home three at the back may be a viable option.
This would allow Partey to join X&J in midfield and still to have a strong top four with options on the bench.

  10. After a really difficult run in so far we go into the last three games with still three very different and difficult games to go.
We have Brighton at home however their record against the top seven sides ( now including the barcodes) is excellent. 10 wins out of their last 18 games against those sides.
Forrest are fighting for their lives and are much better at home than away. They too have done well recently.
Wolves another side who historically do well against the top sides and have done very well since their new manager has arrived.
So they all have their reasons why we should be wary and need to play well but we will be favourites for all three games.
We have seen the difference between our recent poor patch and our good performances in our last two games and that basically is how quickly we move the ball.
While we know each team will present different challenges when we move the ball quickly teams struggle against us.
Because of changes in the back four attack might be the best form of defense.
We have the potential to crush teams and in the last three games, especially against Brighton we need to negate their threat by our well… ARSENAL.

  11. So by the time we kick off today we will know whether city need just one more win or two draw for the title or whether the toffees have give us a chance.
All we can do is win our games to make the end of the season a memorable one and set up ourselves for the new season ahead.
Whatever happens at Goodison our battling win at St James’s park should give us confidence to beat anyone any at least the seagulls normally play rather than sitting deep.
The sun is out and we always seem to play well when the weather is shinning on us so a warm celebration would be fantastic today COYG.

  17. Jig, I have agreed with some of your critiques this season but the fact you only comment after a bad performance or result, and so quickly, diminishes your argument.
The result was because of awful passing and decision making throughout the whole game from the whole team but that doesn’t change the fact the officials got the first goal wrong (apart from a couple of early bookings that was all they got wrong.
The really annoying thing was contrary to what the media said Brighton weren’t particularly good today but we were so bad. I think that was our worst performance of the season and to come on the back of such a good win at Newcastle made it even worse
City are a truly great side but to give up the chase with such a whimper was really disappointing

  18. There was nothing wrong with the first goal. There were 2 Arsenal defenders playing the scorer onside.

That was as clear as day from the replays.

There were no Var decisions that you can put the blame on.

If you want to criticise the ref then do so insofar as he did not send Martinelli off for his forehand smash on the defender.

My comment before was succinct and foretold that someone would blame the ref and indeed I see that you do.

I only comment on defeats because they simply prove my point.

Arteta has spoiled Arsensl for me, by his behaviour, his antics and his tactics or lack of them.

He took off our 2 best midfielders and replaced them with Partey, a player who can usually only pass the ball to a player 5 yards away without misplacing the pass.

Arteta is devoid of tactical nous and has no idea how to use substitutes.

Almost every one of you has said that time and time again.

We were thoroughly outplayed at home by a better team.

So we will finish second. Wonderful.

Next season with Arteta at the helm and also in the champions league does anyone imagine that teams like Liverpool, Chel$ki, Manure and the scum will be as bad again as they were this year and we will finish anywhere near second?

Hate what I say, if you like, but am I saying anything that is not correct?

  19. we have played 36 league games this season, we have kept 13 clean sheet, and conceded goals in 23 games, and in those 23 games we conceded goals in we let in only one goal in 10 of them, meaning we still have the propensity once we concede one goal to let in more than one, something we did 13 times in those 23 games, and in the 13 games we let in more than one goal we conceded a total of 32 goals. We don’t deal well with setbacks. Its a problem, seeing as Arteta fixed the defense a long time ago. What.

  21. well what can we expect this summer after we stumbled out of the title race when the pressure point of the season came into view. I’d say lots of money will be spent, arsenal favored journos have been saying Arteta will be given at least £200M plus any sales money to bring in new players, Rice and Caicedo said to be two very big money targets, to replace Partey and Xhaka, both of whom may be sold, which for me half defeats the purpose of signing quality players, need to get the unusable players out, not the ones who have been first choice for us. We are said to be set to sign a right sided CB, mainly to see Holding out of the squad, but till Saliba signs a new deal his future here is in question. Tierney and Tomiyasu are both said to be set to leave, so that would be two fullbacks needed, we might promote one youth but no way two, doubt even the one by the way.
On the subject of youth, to me its looking more and more likely that Edu’s throw away line about the academy has to be used to bring in fees, is how we are heading there, Arteta shows little sign of promoting from within, so do not be surprised to see Patino and Balogun, maybe Norton-Cuffy, who have been 3 of our best loan performers this season all be sold this summer, maybe even Okonkwo too. Many more of our young players will probably be sold or let go for free this summer, Matt Smith and Cotterill almost certain to be released.
There is massive speculation that the jewel in the crown of the current academy, or hale end crop, Ethan Nwaneri is not going to accept our scholarship offer and will leave for training compensation fee to maybe man city, or any number of admiring clubs.

But as I said above Arsenal will spend big this summer and that will keep the fans happy, without many actually taking a deep look at how we now operate, under Arteta and Edu our modus operandi is buy x y and z, and if they don’t work out buy another x y or z. Don’t be surprised if the like of Vieira is sold this summer to much less fan fare than his big money arrival heralded last summer. He won’t be the first and he certainly won’t be the last.

  25. I have driven you away from this blog! Jeez! Get a grip!
And the badly behaved Arteta, with one of the youngest squads in the league has achieved an 80 plus point season in second place is driving you away from the club?
So how did you cope with the barren years of recent decades, the 6th places in recent years? The defences that make today look like peak AC Milan back in the day ? The years without a trophy ?
Today was poor, Losing Saliba has been a big problem, the stats confirm that, something they will have to sort .
But in finishing second, this team have exceeded the pre season expectations of any blogger or pundit I am aware of. I am not aware of any pundits who predicted a finish above Tottenham , Chelsea or Utd, let alone City.
And, as we and Arteta knows, this team are nowhere near the finished article. More to come

  26. Arsenal’s last 7 game results are bad viewing

    D D D L W W L

9 points gained from a possible 21 at the business end of the season, its actually every bit as bad as how the team crumbled in the fight for a CL spot last season, its dare I say it fucking spursy

  27. The disruption in defence has had a significant impact and clearly needs addressing. Some of Arteta’s decisions have been questionable but easy to say after the event and hopefully will be part of the learning curve.
We have dropped away but then produced the Newcastle performance whilst so called bottling it.
This season has also come on the back of a World Cup and who knows what a physical and mental toll that has taken.
When I go to the last game of the season and reflect, do I feel that the team has improved from last season and have I witnessed some great football? The answer has got to be a resounding, yes.

  28. Jig, throughout the season I have tried to keep the middle ground but unfortunately you and Mandy both represent the extremes.
While Mandy may consider our games with rose colored glasses you view everything through a black cloud.
I have said above that I agreed with some of your critiques, indeed you are correct about the X&J subs but unfortunately you have made several errors in your condemnation of the game.
I have reread my post and the comments above and noone said the officials were to blame so your lead comment for people to take the bait was incorrect.
What people have said is the officials made mistakes and they did.
Martinelli jumped high kept his arms close to his body and had his eyes on the ball the whole time. I think it should of been a booking and so once again the ref was poor. The caciedo challenge was even worse and once again the ref got it wrong.
Again no one said the first goal should have been ruled out for offside so I think maybe you just haven’t watched it properly.
Maybe you should temper your posts with some positives otherwise they just appear the rants of a madman and this would be unfortunate because hidden in these rants are some very good points.

  30. Had a Liverpool fan trying to make out that Arsenal should be ashamed/embarrassed that they lead the league for so long and then in his words capitulated to city.
Just replied we had a good season then showed him a few pundit predictions from the start of the season that had Liverpool winning it, city in 2 Chelsea 3 utd 4 and arsenal below spurs.

Also Steve G slip is what you call capitulation.
I enjoyed the season can’t speak for others.

the 1st goal should not have stood according to Micah Richards as Kiwior was fouled when a player stood on his ankle forcing his boot to come off. It’s clear in the replays.

Brighton deserved to win but the officials did make mistakes.

If there are two things I could’ve changed this season it would have been:
Someone at the club convincing Arteta to rest all key players in the Europa games, for all of 2023! I was begging here for a youth team and squad players who needed the minutes only.
Better rotations with the better squad players.
An early sub on for Jorginho against Liverpool. Who knows what could’ve happened? A little bit more of Tierney on & for Zinchenko who’d been injury prone this year.

My own personal selfish desire for the remainder of the season is for Saka to have a holiday since yesterday and for Edu to make up for not having cleaned up Saliba’s contract before (by recalling him last season doh!) am hoping it’s not too late.

  32. Difficult match on the weekend.
Birdkamp wrote just before Goodison that he’d dare believe In the dream if the Gunners won that game. Wise words hehe.
Call me a coward but I dared to believe like many I guess when two nil up at Anfield. A brief affair. Over with the late late equaliser. I guess the players felt it fade out with City’s win at Everton.

Which is why they used to have league fixtures for competing clubs kick off at the same time doh! A better ‘product’ for all League included. Simple stuff.

Looking forward to more of Nelson and others hopefully Arteta is on it (resting Saka is smart thinking Mikel).
