Genuinely wondering if this is rouge or rogue😅.
Reckon Ben White would look lovely with a bit of blusher applied to his already generously tanned cheeks!

Dear oh dear.
Firstly, it’s the ref’s fault.
Then Man $ity’s funding.
Has no one here considered the possibility that we are simply not good enough?
Or that we have been punching well above our normal weight with the assistance of some of the other normally good teams going missing?
Think about the pathetic way that we were removed from each of the cups, hardly what one would expect from a top club in top form.
Liverpool, Chel$ki and Manure are also teams who spend large amounts on players and even our local friends have done so as well and yet they have all been dire this season.
Perhaps our elevated position is nothing other than by default of the others.
The last two games have highlighted the fact that the players seem to be capable of playing for 30 minutes in a game and then retreat for the rest.
This is a coaching failing, not so much that of the players, especially with this manager who demands that the players do exactly what he tells them for the full 90 minutes.
Yet we now see the manager criticising the players which is a sign that the manager is losing control.
I know that my views are not popular, but I do not think I have said anything that is not true.

Looking like a resurrected Paul O’Grady, George has come up with his thesis of Jesus being the problem. Running about, doing whatever he wants, ruining Mikel’s masterplan. Swallowing whole Arteta’s post-match return to norm of blaming the players, George feasts on the delusion of Arteta being unable to affect any change throughout the game or during the break. He was outmanaged on both occasions. Blaming Jesus is as simple-minded as blaming Holding.

Hey Andrew. George is too subliminal for us lesser mortals. Rouge is basically red innit?

Cheers lads, always enjoyable. Saint and Greavsie had nix on you.
I think mentioning 89 was wrong on my part. Firstly history doesnt repeat itself( its oxymoronic to think it does?) things might seem similar ( most people immediately think of the invasions of Russia in the 19th/20th centuries), but they arent really (neither the inavsions or 89). The set up is totally different, and the teams/leagues arent even similar.
I suppose we look for patterns to explain events and often in life( weather, tides, wind types etc) have similar procedures, but really everythings in flux.
Plus we don’t know what seems to come out of the blue ( Chelsea?), Im not sure things are to be labelled chaotic, because most elements in life are in some kind of cause and effect and effect and cause; so tonight if Bayern come back it might throw City into a misery that really effects them, or makes them better? Can they get better? Im terrified of a thrashing at theirs, that reduces every win this season to zilch. But I thin we can beat City. However to then face the Toon and Chelsea( Frank might still be looking for his first win by then?), thats tough, the Toon arent unbeatable, like.
One thing we might have in our favour, is that all the favour has transferred to them ( City), as the unstoppable force but what if we are the immovable object? We havent bottled it yet, as the season isnt over. And City havent won it yet either. Somehow the punditry has left the dish and run away with the spoon and they think its all over and theres a party on at old Mother Hubbards house.
Now there was thing about 89; it seemed impossible, but we had a team that was tough and skilled to soak up the atmosphere that night. We hadnt won since 1975 up there. Its perhaps our greatest ever performance at Liverpool ( at least in my lifetime, who can say what things were like in them old days), and if we are to look for something to grab (not just it being up for grabs) from that time it was the way we played that night, not giving up, 100% concertation the whole night, staying on Livercrutches level, no heads went down (of course if they would have scored then who knows how we might of reacted). And we had ostensibly lost it, once we went into injury time in those days the ref could blow when he want. And still we didnt give up.
I think this team can do that, maybe Siliba will be back and the Zinch, but if we go in the game not as boys looking up to them and paying respect to Blondie its goodnight ladies. However if we remember we are still top of the league and we can beat anyone on our day then everything’s a possibility again?

Good points Mills but actually if you study history then it does repeat itself. Humans don’t learn from history and so pay for their ignorance over and over again and more frequently than people realise.
The 89 analogy is not exact but remember we played Liverpool in the cup at Anfield and played really well and I think that performance gave the team belief they could do it when the crunch game came.
Similarly I think we have been getting closer to city every time we play them and we could of easily got a result in the home game had we cut out a few individual errors.

I see the ladies were very unlucky again suffering more key injuries adding to the suspension of Katie McCabe and still having enough chances to win but eventually losing 1-0. It looks like the club is suffering a bit right now.

Our big Willie is not going to be back for the city game and probably Zinchenko as well.
The team will need to work hard to protect the makeshift back four and still pose enough threat to make sure cities roaming back line are not allowed to come forward to create overloads. It is looking very difficult but I’m sure if we go with the right attitude we can hurt them.

I’ve had a mad busy week and still not managed to listen to the blog, however I’ve been told it’s very good.
Tonight is all about getting back on the horse avoiding the breakaways (and the freekicks) and getting as many goals as possible to try and hunt city down.
Realistically it’s really only about getting the three points and setting ourselves up for city midweek.
Every coach in the world will say concentrate only on tonight and that is correct so here’s to a professional and happy performance with no injuries or suspensions COYG.

Martinelli, Odegaard and Saka with our goals, but it was all too late, title race only remains in our own hands if we beat man city in our next game.
would love to know why ESR has been frozen out of action of late. Vieira is an Arteta signing, is the only reason I can come up with for him getting in ahead of ESR or anyone else for that matter
Several of our main players were woeful tonight, Ramsdale was awful, Holding poor, Partey pathetic, and too little from many more of them, has the title race pressure got to them, we will see midweek at city, if we play like tonight it will be a hammering.
we have now dropped 4pts this season to bottom club southampton

No title this year, let’s face it, we’re we ever going to overturn an FFP busting squad over the years, and a freak striker. But when pundits and supporters predictions at the start of the season came in, and I didn’t see many predicting top 5 , let alone a likely second place, this will be seen by anyone objective as an overachieving season, no matter what happened in recent games.
The defence has gone awol , especially since Saliba got injured, Holding is a good defender but takes way too many touches for the way this team play, this slows down the ball getting to MF, that said, have no idea what has happened to Partey, though today, he was without one of our finest players alongside him.
Next season, Arteta is going to have to guard against another injury precipitated defence collapse. And give Jesus some shooting boots based on todays performance. ESR is a mystery, doubt we will see him around next season though

I think you have to include Zinchenko and Jesus in the list of main players who were poor and Odegaard was awful until the last 15 minutes when Southampton retreated into their own box.
Loads of individual mistakes but when your teams not playing well the manager has to take responsibility and change it but Mikel refuses to accept the attack is stale until it’s miles to late, a critique that’s not changed for three years.

The attack may be at their very best, sitters have been missed, though Trossard certainly livened things up, but they still got three goals today, and 2 in their last two games, that should be enough to win at least 2 of these three games. But defensively, they have been all over the place at times recently, I’m sure at least some , if not all of it coincides with Saliba being out, losing Tomi hasn’t helped either , seems to have spread panic into the team at times .
I fear City will do horrible things to this defence
