  1. Shotta ” another glorious day in the Carribbean”
    George “it’s miserable here”
    Shotta “miserable really?”

“Really” Shotta it’s fucking Blackburn it’s always miserable.
Actually I’ve been to Blackburn many times with football and with Northern soul and had some glorious days and nights out
Indeed Jack his debut up there on a wonderful afternoon.
Gee said I’d mentioned we needed to be seven points at this stage to stand a chance but that was if we had both played the same amount of games so really we’ve not achieved that.
As George said we lose at city and a draw anywhere would put us second if as we expect city win all of their games.
They haven’t done this so far this season but if at any time you expect city to put a run together it’s during the last ten games.
I think we need to go to city and get a result even if that’s a draw a loss would make it difficult.
If you go through both lots of fixtures city play Liverpool at home, later us at home Brighton away and Chelusa . Just four hard games, we have a nightmare run in with Liverpool, city and Newcastle away plus Brighton and Chelusa at home.
The other thing is all the teams we play have an interest in the league no midtable teams on the beach that you need at the end of the season
City are definitely favourites but football is not played at the bookies or on paper so it’s in our hands so let’s think “it’s up for grabs now”

  5. A sad ending to a fabulous footballer and a great career, Mesut has finally decided to hang up his boots.
No matter what this club achieves I will always think that Edu and Mikel ended this man’s time at ARSENAL appallingly.
I have seen many managers go into clubs and revamp squads and get rid of star players they didn’t want but never so hamfisted as us, it was abysmal.
I will always thank Arsene for bringing such a wonderful player to our club and to Mesut himself for giving me so many reasons to smile.
He was a true genius on the ball and will always be remembered for his time on the world stage even if some neanderthals couldn’t appreciate him

  6. @ ianspace2014,

We have not achieved it yet!! (common Liverpool)

Our last 10 is probably tougher than city’s last 10 but at this stage with amount of games left it will come down to a lot of different factors, hunger, form, injuries, other competitions for city etc.
City are favourites, we will see how it goes.

Thanks Mesut, apart from Bergkamp, Ozil was the best technical player I seen live at Arsenal and was a pleasure to witness.
All the best brother thanks for helping to end the trophy drought (remember when the media used run a timer showing when was the last time Arsenal won a trophy, funny they have not done it for any other club since (spuds)).

Clearly the guardian not a Ozil fan.
guy retires they barely mention his achievements (Real Madrid n Arsenal) but focus on controversies and his failings.

Does his polical stance regarding the Uighars still make him unpopular to some media outfits. No one even puts a name to the article. Sad

  9. The AISA AGM and then guest appearance with Ray Parlour was really interesting and then funny.
The committee have continued their work on the the ARSENAL advisory board and work closely with the club on all aspects that involve the fans.
They reiterated they never have been involved in anything to do with personnel appointments to any staff at whatever level.
The chair and co chair took Vinai to dial square Woolwich and showed him where the club began and the history behind the start of the club.
Vinai acknowledged the club had not recognised this part of its history and will look into placing an official reminder of its links with the club
AISA will be running a couple of tours to dial square for members so they can fully embrace the birth of their club.
The Chair said that they have put the friction with AST aside and are now working closer than they ever have together. He said they still don’t agree on everything but can at least work together now for the sake of the fans and the club.
Ray Parlour was his usual funny self and told a funny story about just about every question he was asked.
He said Dennis was the biggest wind up merchant in the side and Keown was the easiest to wind up.
Ironically Keown hated all journos and couldn’t take criticism which makes it even worse he is such a shit bag now.
Apparently the whole team would get 7’s 8’s and 9’s but Keown would get 5 every week so Dennis would pin it to his locker every week and it used to drive Keown mental.
He also said Ben White was a really nice lad but doesn’t like football and never supported any team as a boy. Ray asked him how he got so good if he didn’t like the game and Ben just shrugged his shoulders and said he just fell into it really.
It was a great night and I recommend anyone getting the chance to see Ray in conversation it’s well worth it.
I would also recommend fans join AISA

The Arsenal-holds, the racists and bigots, and the idiot brigade will use the player’s retirement to exhibit all of the above tendencies my personal favourite is Barney ‘Mmmmmm’ Roney it’s basically just like reading Joey Barton’s diary.
Properly psychopathic no wonder they had no problem with that persona on the
According to these frothing clowns Harry Kane is the greatest player since Spartacus yet he has been unable to do for the neighbours what this failure Ozil did for the Emirates era Arsenal. Which was of course to baptise the stadium, to bring home a handful of domestic trophies whilst leading Germany to a WC.
    When you think about it:
    this contrast is funny!
The tragedy was after the player fell out with the owners that they couldn’t play him for 15/20 odd games in that last season which is all he could have managed with his injuries. Disregarding Roney’s Gibberish children inside the stadium would squeal with joy when this player would play. And Odegaard who can do the Ozil finish has obviously seen plenty of Ozil videos growing up. The lack of a crossover for the MOs was not as damaging as it would’ve been in the pre-YouTube era.
Arteta always knew he needed such players as without Ozil he’d have no trophies as a player just like Kane! The Roney’s out there have no shame but plenty of bigotry.

It’s so funny that in a week where these same rat-arsed plundits have been lauding Kane before he leaves Tottenham this summer after failing to baptise the shiny new WC in Lewis’ feudal fiefdom that they have been cat-calling Ozil a failure for breaking the Emirates duck and rolling in the baubles. Four shiny nuggets in six odd years no less. Failure. By Kane’s standards apparently. That bigotry reveals itself through craven stupidity is a good proof that the universe is as indeed created, by someone with a sense of humour.
The tragedy of Ozil not being allowed by the owners to make the max. 20 odd appearances that his bad back would allow in his final season has been offset by the fact that MO II is a child of the YouTube generation and when Odegaard scored that Ozil finish at Brighton so soon after Wenger’s return under Arteta’s insistence we all could see that this was already a special season no matter what else happens.

And Southgate is moaning about the lack of top level English players when he failed to start the best RB in the league at the World Cup, to play behind his team mate no less.
Will this rare or improved generation get a good coach at the National level? Would Rodgers do a better job with this squad?

  14. FP, Southgate’s also just packed Balogun off to the USA, which kind of undermines his point.

It all sounds political, doesn’t it? Before the WC there was some talk about making it harder for non-EU players to get work permits, so I reckon there’s an agenda. Analysis on the BBC site today pretty much showed that he’s not telling the full story.

I can’t remember a time when there was this much depth in the England squad.

All they need to do is develop a tempo-setting central midfielder, which is clearly a blind spot at English academies.

When there was a European cup and multiple title winning metronomic midfielder kicking about like Carrick he could barely get a start in the National shirt. His tennish teammate Scholes who was carried by the sycophantic officials in the league after his legs gave up himself gave up on the national team. Unbelievable Jeff.

  21. Seems churlish to be critical of Southgate after a big victory in Italy.

The pain for many English football fans is we all know England had not just the better team & not just the better squads then Croatia/Italy etc but they also had players at home not in the squad who would’ve made the Italian or Croatian teams!

Maybe Southgate will come good. Perhaps the observation that Howe did more with less resources then Southgate had at boro is misleading. But his refusal to select Wilshere when he was still fit which was so sad and then his idiotic picking of players who have been unfit at WCs and now the story with White have exposed his sado-masochistic bias against the Arsenal. This is not an impressive record.

Mad the contrast in the praise they get in the English media.

Just hope Odegaard and Him stay in one piece until the end of the season as arguably they are in the top Five players in the world right now.

  29. Gee I wouldn’t call Kane a failure.
Just logging that he gets an extremely favourable press when he’s yet to hit the highs in his career by other top English strikers such as Shearer, Rooney, A.Cole or even a Teddy Sheringham.

    Heh.

Same press that never see anything wrong with the officials who can’t run a website let alone a video camera reply system over the internet.

However Greg Dyke and a fair few of these other stand up hacks who may or may not support Tottenham and want to save the poor whilst sitting on Murdoch’s couch, they can’t help the bias I guess.

We never branded Starboy as phenom here in order to ward off jinxes though Tim did spell it out by literally anointing him as Ozils heir at the time the former star fell out with his former captain (under the owners’ watchful glare)

  32. over the weekend I and my club mate won the Advanced Mens Doubles in the Irish Nationals Pickleball Championship, we won our 3 group games, with just the one being close, 15-13, in the semi final we won 15-7 and the final 15-10. My team mate is by far the best Pickleball player in Ireland, he went on to win the Advanced Mixed Doubles title with a lady from our club too. Its less than a year since I had my second neck dissection operation for thyroid cancer, and its only six months since I finished radiation treatment, so I am very fortunate to have had the luck of having such an outstanding team mate who got us over the winning line. I’m sore in muscles I didn’t know I had, but I’m as proud as punch of getting the title. Just need Arsenal to bring home the league title now

Fergie as well, he did good, but, and there is a but, his team cheated a bit, and he was able to persuade others, ie the whole English football establishment to cheat for him , from Mike Riley, to Scudamore, to Phil Brown, this is what this great manager needed to do to take on Wenger.

  40. Sad thing was that at HT despite Kim Little going off, Arsenal looked set to win the league and the CL, but McCabe going off badly injured might mess that up; shes such a great player and inspiration to the side I personally felt Arsenal could have been three or four in front, and Katie and Foord missed good chances in the second half could have really embarrassed Bayern.

Arsenal dominated the second half of the first leg and should have won it despite some utter bullshit calls( which promoted VAR to be used in the second leg), calls which continued in the second leg, that wasn’t a yellow on W-Moy, and Raf getting (dubious?) one later meant they had to watch everything they did. Losing Raf would be a nightmare as shes the stalwart defender in the centre of defence.

But Bayern were utterly out played in the first half, and looked like the Spuds, great surging, fighting runs by Stina (still missing that final deadly touch and shot/confidence?), the Pavolvian response was superb down the right hand side, cutting in with some tricky skills. Although by the second half, Bayern got wise and squeezed her out onto the wing where she started over thinking things. Yet in the first half were quick and instant in their passing and left Bayern flapping in the wind.Sometimes it was just beautiful to watch. The Arsenal seemed to thrive at the Emirates and could exploit it more than at the Meadow?
A great goal by Maanum, similar feel to the one against the Spuds got the side confident and the high press, constant tackling and winning bac possession meant Bayern must have been glad for HT.

As expected Bayern came out, but Arsenal seemed to want to contain the game, which is never great for the spectators blood pressure, I thought after ten minutes Arsenal would step up, control the game again and score more but they didnt.

And in some ways it made for a disappointing half, considering the lighting intelligent play on display in the first half. Both sides were missing many good players, and we shall see how Little and McCabe are, with City next they will be sorely missed. Yet we still have great cover in Wienroither and Elfie Kühl might get more time and when on form she has the Liam Brady/ Mesut Özil eye for a pass.
It was a recording-breaking attendance for a CL game at the Emirates, but thirty thousand less than the WSL record. Shame, as anyone who said the game had a treat especially in the first half.

  46. finsbury you are the third person in the last week to tell me its inspiring, but i suppose being in the middle of it I don’t see it, i just try to get on with it, and am very thankful that things are going well enough that I can get on with it. I seen many others with much harder battles and with much worse prognosis and one thing i seen from the vast majority of cancer patients was good spirits, good attitude and a camaraderie, and a bit of black humor or in these times of PC should I say morbid humor.
if you have friends or family facing into it, tell them to listen to the medics, take their advice, do what they suggest, and the thing I found great apart from the wonderful oncology staff, especially the nurses, was talking to other cancer patients, being pointed in the right direction by them, hearing their stories, those further down the treatment line, were able to tell me what to expect, especially when it came to the side effects of radiation treatment.
Just one thing I’d warn anyone getting radiation around the neck region, as soon as you start treatment stay well clear of anything citrus, even orange squash, or orange juice, and go on a softish diet before hospital dietician puts you on it cos of pain swallowing, if you are careful with what you eat you can delay and lessen the pain. Don’t wait for the pain to being before going soft. I was put on 3 forms of morphine pain killer when my swallow was at its most painful, but by dumping anything citrus and self imposing a soft diet I thankfully was off the morphine within a few days, much to the surprise of the medics,(my choice, and they tried to get me to stay on it, but I knew I was not in pain so refused, did tell them I would go back on it if pain came back, that satisfied them) in fact i was off all pain killers, but the medics did suggest I might have a high threshold for pain, everyone is different.
Also i’d suggest before any cancer treatment, operation, radiation etc, get as fit as possible, and be a healthy weight. Radiation treatment, especially to mouth or neck will see a loss of taste, likely pain swallowing, so its almost certain their will be weight loss, so need to start at a healthy weight.

One last thing, if there is to be follow up treatment after an operation, such as radiation or radioiodine treatment, etc, push to get it done as soon as feasible, delays can rise the risk of the cancer coming back

Lots of goals in the Gunners team today fingers crossed they can outscore the opponents.

The experts who couldn’t or can’t rate this player alongside Xhaka perhaps for similar reasons didn’t spot that he was taken out by a late hack setting up that last goal against Everton could’ve been a costly loss but the team have been scoring. Rodri surviving a sending off today City receiving some luck from the Riley spawn this season compared to yesteryear.
