Fun at Fulham.

Hello all,

in this podcast Shotta tries to calm me down as I wax lyrical about the performance, team and Arteta.

If you missed the excellent review from Birdkamp yesterday, I suggest you go back and give it a read.

  1. So we know Palace defensively has been very good and although they have a poor return up front they have some match winners in their team.
This game however is all about us. If we keep the tempo high, use the width and defend set pieces and counters well, we should get through.
If we play well enough going forward we may get away with the odd slip at the back.
Three points here and maybe we will get the some injured players back after the interlull.
Leeds is the start of the run in so a win today would set that up nicely COYG.

  3. Both Palace wide forwards spending more time covering their FBs so far.
closer to their own touchline then the halfway line and that will help Holding.

Arsenal just need to keep cool and calm and carry on like the Admiral when he sunk Bournemouth.
Superb run by Trossard. Building up the pressure now same time as last week. Turning the screws.

    Get in.
Martinelli. Selfish yet glorious he truly could be as many say The Son of Ronaldo (the lesser).
Saka with a gorgeous dinked cross.
White winning the ball on that right hand side to set up that attack & Arsenal found a gap in the Palace structure.

    COYG!

When you said just after the world Cup we would need 7 points with 10 games to go to have any chance, I thought would we even have a lead by then!!

8 points ahead with10 games to go is actually real!

    Great wi today.

  11. Hoping that someone might have seen it all unfold and report back! From the sound of the BBC Sport commentary it felt as if we were purring at times.

  12. superb win, and with 10 games to go we have an 8pt lead over man city, who have a game in hand, so here are the maximum points required by AFC in our 10 remaining games

    1st, 26pts
    2nd,18pts
    3rd, 15pts
    4th, 13pts

    finish above Spurs, 11pts

  15. After all the pre- match worry about our defence it actually was the forward line who stuttered, which I know sounds crazy when you’ve just won 4-.
Big Bob Holding MOTM by a country mile.
If every time one of the squad comes in and plays as well as Eddie, Reiss or Big Bob we will be OK.

  16. Could’ve been a different story for this game although most likely with a similar result if Palace has scored one of the two good chances in that opening spell. One a ricochet off the keeper that somehow stayed out the other could have been a better finish. The contrast with Martinez is notable. Ian is correct Arteta is a lucky manager.
The punters really should follow Ian’s advice as it seems Palace were odds on for a goal today. Their problem was that by the time they scored the game was over.

4 goals from 5 shots on target for the Gunners. Only four goals behind City on overall GD and that is incredible. Couple of selfish moments at one nil could’ve been costly against a better opponent but those tests will come the only disappointment for me today was that Arteta didn’t take Saka off with an exaggerated wobble at the end before the international break.

  18. Who would have thought the draw for the semis would have turned out like that?
Lets hope The Seaweed can avenge the final of 83: ” and Smith must score and Smith hasnt scored…”

  19. Arteta on whether he is hopeful over William Saliba and how well Rob Holding did…
We hope so, and we hope Willy is going to be better news but again we have to wait until tomorrow to understand a better picture. We have lost players – we lost Gabby for four months, we lost Thomas for one and a half months, we lost Alex Zinchenko for one and a half months, we lost Elneny for six to eight months, now we lost Eddie and now we lost Tomiyasu and Saliba. Everybody has to give more. It’s not a secret, if we want to maintain that level, everyone has to step in, give more and Rob is a great example of what we needed today.
