  1. Really interesting pod guys and some very valid points made.
Yes English football is corrupt and has been for years the only amazing thing is people don’t believe it but then millions believe that food being missing from shops is about problems in Europe when Europe has an abundance of food. It can’t be about Brexit because that would involve admitting they were wrong absolute Lunacy and it’s the same with football. Money and corruption goes hand in hand and I thought that was basic but apparently not.
On the game itself yes it was a good when especially when you put it in context with black February but actually when you look at our failure in the final third you have to accept this was a 70% performance and no more. There will be teams who will be set up and drilled more tightly for total defence football than Leicester and we need to adapt to break them down.
As I said on BK’s excellent review although Trossard played well himself the false nine simply didn’t work and Eddie would have made more use and gave a better option for those exquisite Jorgi passes in-between the full back and CB.
Jorginho is obviously a top player however he hasn’t totally fit in with us yet and although he has many good aspects of his game already displayed in his short time here there have also been many times he has been caught out of position on turnovers. When he gets used to exactly where his part in the team is he will be even better.
I think Martinelli is the one who needs the rest and the stream I watched showed his indecision meant he held on to the ball in box for a full eleven seconds before finally the move broke down. Now I’m slow as fuck but even I could defend that.
Overall the squad is definitely stronger and we are going to need them if we are successful in Europe and have to play cloggers at the weekend as well.
Be careful of a few bruises this Wednesday as well. Just four games before the run in starts and like George says enjoy the ride.

  2. “I love drugs!” made me laugh out loud, which is always for me a great thing. I agree with Ian, plenty of good coverage.

Unless theres some kind of total unity in aggro toward the dark forces from all fans, corruption will probably go on slithering around as it always done? Some times I think half the game needs to be overhauled from: foggy offside rules, the problem of time ( why not have a clock at each ground, when the balls out of play then stop the game, no need for injury time etc?), ffp bend and stretching in its sneaky ways, reffing in general, including VAR etc. Do show trial dismissals keep the populous quiet even when youve lost valuable points? The more cash comes into the game, the more theres going to be pressure on these elements?

Personally I also liked what the Bird brought up about the game being exciting and nerve wracking, despite the Guns being dominant. Despite all the victories at the Foxhole, it always feels like we are going to lose! So even an inglorious win there is satisfiying. Perhaps on another day we might have had five? Trossards goal was a beauty though, and VAR was hypocritical in the sense that every game in the top flight at least that holding goes on by both strikers and defenders ( and goalkeepers)…

Not sure( I lie: I mean Im irritated!) why many people are giving it the big one over ManUre wining the League Cup; I liked what Martin K had to say as he picked his way through who they beat on the way to the final and lets wait six weeks and have a butchers again. I thought on another day the Toon might have had the physics play out their way like, they didnt seem that bad for sure- but to be fair I only saw the highlights and they can trick you anyway an editor wants? And in the summer they will bring in even more reinforcement’s…
I think the boys of Everton will be told by the anti-vegetable leaver to do the same as last time, but I think Arteta has sussed that one. Perhaps it might be tough for a bit but with J20 giving us a new dimension and us having the analytics on the Goosebury Park game I think will do it! Nicey to have another game come up again soon!

    “Birrrrrrrddddddddddddyyyy!”
    “what?” (Birdy 1984)

…erm, cheers for another great review, and thanks for taking the time, every time I see your avatar I think of Felix goes to Hollywoodland, and to George and Shotta for doing the biz on the show-cheers lads.!

    Keep on keepin on!

  3. Just quick one on the disallowed goal, Ben had hold of the keepers wrist meaningful he had to go with the wrong hand it was 100% the right decision unfortunately then ignoring such an obvious pen makes the PIGMOL look stupid (or corrupt which is more likely).
If they can get the difficult ones right how do they get the easy ones wrong definitely dodgy.

  4. Yes i agree.Kind of what i meant was that holding etc goes on every week and they tend to be selective (hypocritical).Kos gets sent off, and nobody else did that season for a similar offense even though it went on in every game. But i totally agree, the Tross goal shouldnt have been allowed.

  7. Well we play old gravel throat once again only this time on our turf.
As in all games recently the first goal will be very important, if we score it it won’t necessarily bring them out as I would imagine they will keep playing a ridged formation and hope for something of a set piece.
We do need to move them around more than we did in the reverse fixture and indeed against Leicester. With both Martinelli and Zinchenko coming inside we have found ourselves with no width or overlap when teams have dropped deep. The left hand side used to produce so much of our attacking play and it seems to have dropped off recently.
I know that’s where our goal come from against the foxes but that was when they were pushed much higher up the pitch.
I hope we don’t go with the false nine again but whatever system we play and whoever starts COYG.

  8. Youre right about Zin and Mart pulling inside Ian, will be interesting to see if Arteta deals with it. There seems to be a god dialogue between all staffers and the lads…
They wont have quite the same momentum they had last time out, 12th man, new hope, the media build up plus the nervousness creeping around the fan-base pre-game etc, it seemed to haze us a bit. I had flu listening to that game, and it was sheer hell; from the first ten lying like a tool in bed, you could tell it wasnt going to happen. Then aint now though! And Im sure (but thats not a fact) that the lads will be out for revenge.
Every Arsenal game is different, so it will be interesting to see what happens tonight.

  45. Tore them apart once we got going. An impressive and delicious win, so many excellent performances. Sakas goal was incredibly impressive, as was Martinellis anticipation.
Could easily have scored a few more
Sean Dyche is such a limited manager, think the only reasons they beat us a few weeks ago, we had an off day, they created a pitch from 1974, the new manager bounce and an indulgent ref . Would be surprised if he keeps them up, especially if DCL is out for any amount of time. But ultimately, to hell with them, we march on.

  47. Well that was fun. One of the (many) special things about Saka is his ability to strike the ball really hard when shooting. Most players lose control when they go to smash it, but not him. There have been a few this season when the unexpected power he generates catches the keeper out.
I couldn’t see the game yesterday, but have caught up with clips of the goals, but if any of you were watching properly, how did Smith Rowe do when he came on?

  48. FH, I watched it in a tired haze, but I think the game was at walking pace by then. I remember thinking he took up some good positions.

Not sure if this is frowned upon, but if anyone has the time or inclination to watch or re-watch full games, google: reddit football highlights. It’s been a lifesaver for the 3 o’clocks because they go up at the end of each half.

  49. Yeah although we were still creating chances for the most part ESR and Eddie to a lesser extent saw the ball going sideways and backwards with the crowd giving it the full Ole’s.
It was cat chasing a ball of wool time for the toffees but good to see ESR out there anyway.

  50. It would be mad irony and kinda funny if Everton were to go down with Dyche and Burnley get promoted with Kompany.

Maupay comes across as a bit of a dick on TV.

We have a really good bench.
Artetas used the subs well, we are going to need the full squad with Europa league games coming up.

I looked at the table and realised there is only 13 games left, my nerves are shot already, when we play now il be wearing pampers!

Great back to back results, onwards and upwards till May. Coyg.
