Hello all.
In this podcast we (well I say “we” it’s mainly me) get carried away with our performance against United and our setup.patterns of play and just about everything I can think of. I’m trying to keep a lid on my enthusiasm, but I can’t.
Pedantic George.
Well done lads, I thought I was going to turn on and listen to two old Gooners dancing round saying we are guaranteed to win the league but instead there was an excellent rational calm analysis on a multitude of subjects.

I did think however that manure were the best team we’ve played including manure.
Rashford and Antony were dangerous in the first half and that showed by the way we had to double up on both of them.
Manure were doing well in midfield and that was either helped or forced by Partey’s worse game this season. I think he has been great this season and in the last few games really dominant but he seemed hesitant and off the pace all game. Still a good player but way below his level.
The only difference between Ben White and Shaw was the ref booked Ben for his first foul and Shaw was allowed to commit numerous fouls until it was too late in 80th minute. It’s a classic way an official can effect the game without the media or most fans noticing.
Actually I think Martinelli hasn’t been as effective since Jesus arrival, he seems to want to prove he can do something special everytime he gets the ball. He needs to go back to doing the simple stuff and he will be brilliant again.
Trossard looks good, technical and very strong. At one point when we were trying to hang on to the ball he had five players around him and he still managed to get the ball away.
M.O. had an ordinary game but fortunately his ordinary is very good.
Zinc and Xhaka are simply awesome and to have some players not on form but still have those two impose themselves on the game was incredible. In fact before the game Mikel said we would have to be at our absolute best to win but we weren’t and we still looked very good.

One thing you can really pick up on is the sense of unity between the staff, players (on and off the field) and fans.Long may it last.

Even though we should always concentrate on our club rather than anyone else’s it still has pissed me off the spuds have beat Fulham and made a signing.

I am also worried about Everton getting a new manager and getting the “bounce” we have got plenty of hard games coming up and don’t need to play a team of phycos running around like Duracell bunnies.

Elneny has a knee injury and it out of the FAC game on Friday, but some reports suggest he is out for the rest of the season. Arteta said today that Arsenal would like to add more midfield cover this window, but that it would be difficult.

If it is true that Elneny is out for a long period then we will need to get cover however we need to be careful we do not stop the progress of our own young lads.
If Bamba is seen as the long term replacement for Partey I assume that will probably be the end for Lokonga.
The other thing to remember is we cannot compete with PSG on transfer fee or wages so we would have to sell the profile of the PL to get him., Something he might like but his agents would be less enthused.
I certainly want to see the likes of Azeez and Patino reaching the heights of Eddie and Buko and thriving in the first team.

Remember,Arteta is only interested in players signed by himself and not any of the Academy players.
He had no choice but to use Saka because he is so good and is only using Eddie whilst his golden boy Jesus is injured When he comes back Eddie will be relegated to the bench again.
The same applies to Martinelli. He only plays him because he has no one else but pretty soon Trousard will be taking his place Martinelli will once again become bench fodder.
He would rather keep Lockonga, another one of his signings even though he is not particularly good and the players like Azeez and Patina out on loan, as he did with Saliba until he was forced to use him.
This is all about Arteta and “his” people.

Despite our success unfortunately I agree with alot of that. The present is fantastic the way we got here is dubious.

I agree with George, we have a week until our next game and should put out the big boys for this fixture.
While we obviously don’t want the F.A.cup to become a burden later in the season it would be nice to beat man city reserves tonight.

I see Dyche has got the nod as toffees boss, that could be a nightmare for us in his first game.
Firstly because the crowd will be massively up for the game and secondly because he likes to get his team’s to kick us off the park.
The officials will give us no protection and we are more likely to have our players disciplined for a reaction.
It all makes for a really difficult game that should of been a breeze.
In the meantime let’s just win tonight COYG.

Yeah Ian, there’s no tougher tie than City away—we can rotate later in the competition. Can’t imagine City will be holding back either. I can see the upside of almost any result, except an absolute tonking, which should be avoided at all costs.

Arsenal earlier today had a £60M bid for Moises Caicedo turned down by Brighton, but this evening the player has made a public appeal to his club to allow him to leave for what would be a club record transfer fee for brighton. He says its his desire to achieve all he can in the game and so wants the club to repay him for his efforts by allowing him to move to a bigger club now. This will upset Brighton big time, lets hope it helps, not hinder, Arsenal’s move for the midfielder.

Arteta revealed that Partey was taken off cos he felt something wrong in his ribs, and that he will have an MRI tomorrow to see what it might be. We need Moises Caicedo more than ever now, as we seen tonight, as we have seen everytime he comes in, Lokonga is miles off the level required.

Lokonga is lightweight and Vieira is a wet lettuce, both have potential but realistically are not going to be influential this season.
I thought that having been playing so well Partey must have been carrying a knock to have been so off the pace against manure so I wasn’t surprised he went off injured tonight.
I couldn’t believe Vieira stayed on the pitch and Trossard and Saka came off but I suppose Saka hasn’t had a rest in 15 years so 15 minutes was something at least.
With six changes made against the best squad in Europe that was a pretty decent performance and indeed result tonight and although I hate losing like Birdkamp said before the game no result except a hammering would be bad tonight so on to the next.

I felt strangely indifferent to the match, and even more so when we went with the rotated side: at times it seemed more like a pre-season friendly where the main objective was to try out new combinations and patterns of play. In fairness, I only had one eye on the screen as I was meant to be doing something else, so only really saw 5 minutes out of every 15. We had chances to win the game, but they had more of them, and although I was quite pleased to see that at times we were trying to play football the main take away for me was the way we seemed to stop them playing the way they no doubt would have preferred to play. It was a shame to lose, but I think both teams will take positives out of the game, but also maybe a couple of slight negatives. I would like to think that in future seasons we might have a strong enough squad to take every match and every competition equally seriously.
