Transfers, Partey and Season Preview.

Hello everyone,

In this podcast I go mad with excitement for the coming season. I dismiss all negative thoughts as I jump on the sunshine bus.

Pedantic George.

  2. Now that we have a “ready-to-play-football” Granit, why don’t we give the guy the backing he deserves???

  3. seems we have agreed two sales and another loan out, Leno to Fulham, Torreira to Galatasaray both on permanent deals, and Balogun to Reims on a season loan.

Reports suggest Bellerin is looking for a mutual termination of his contract so he can join Real Betis, with the reports suggesting Arsenal are edging closer to agreeing to this.

By the way with Leno and Torreira going all players signed under Mislintat will have left, how could he have found us so many bad eggs in such a short space of time, ha ha ha.

  4. so if those 3 go it will then see us with Runarsson, Mari, AMN, maybe Nelson, and of course it seems we want Pepe off the books. If that little lot all leave will the squad actually be a little short.

Oh by the way Ogungbo has gone on loan to Crawley, where ex AFC U23 manager Kevin Betsy is in charge, its a great chance for the lad, think that makes it 12 or 13 AFC players out on loan at this point, with a few more likely to go on loan too

Arsenal U21 v St Albans: Hillson, Rosiak, Foran, Ibrahim, Jeffcott, Akinola, Bandeira, Lewis, Cottrell, Ideho, Taylor-Hart.

Subs: T. Smith, Sweet, Cozier-Duberry, Butler-Oyedeji, Cirjan, Quamina, Monlouis.

Looks like Taylor-Hart could be up front. Cotttell is captain.

  7. Excellent pod once again.
Firstly let’s get it clear MO is not Captain everyone knows that but heh.
The two signings from city are excellent however the quality Eddie has as an out and out striker is still being undervalued and he is being wasted by Mikel. People say well he hasn’t done alot when he’s come on but actually when you look at his input from the scraps he’s been given then he’s been fantastic.
The same can be said for ESR, how can anyone really say he is miles away from MO when he has had reduced minutes and played out of position, remember when he came into the side as a number ten he was very good. The other thing to consider is when Oddegarrd was in the same situation at Real he struggled probably worse.
Although I like George’s analogy about his Mrs burning the toast I am a firm believer in learning from history in all walks of life and I would always have it in my mind their was a burnt dinner waiting to happen. We have seen it with defenders who are prone to mistakes if they have a couple of good games your still worried there’s a blooper waiting to happen.
This is the case with Mikel and Edu they have made so many mistakes we can’t just say oh well it’s a new season everything’s going to be fine.
Apparently the latest problem was Edu announcing we have to get rid of players whatever it takes, obviously not a good start for negotiations.
I love people’s optimism this time of the year and I have been guilty of it myself in the past but after supporting ARSENAL for over 50 years I know football can be cruel. Fans of every team should be optimistic about the coming season but in reality there will be alot of arse stinging.
George’s joy at the five subs rule giving players more game time made me laugh. Mikel doesn’t like to make subs and when he does he prefers to give single figure minutes as Nelson found out for his 30 second cameo. If the rule was 20 subs and we were losing ten nil he wouldn’t make a sub till the 78th minute.
He also has a history of playing his strongest teams against weak opposition so will players get starts in lesser games I not so sure.
He only took one academy player on tour and yet loaded players who are supposedly on the way out.
Chelsea will be alot better this year they might not start well but they are currently outbidding city for a left back so again a little dose of reality they were troubled by very Una’s circumstances last year after starting very well, they are guaranteed top four this year.
As for transfer market valuation of squads again we have to look at perspective. Harry Kane cost the spuds nothing but his valuation is around 100 million as opposed to Pepe costing us 72 million and is valued at 3 and a half pence
So the fact our squad valuation is only sixth after all we’ve spent since Arsene left just highlights another failure.
George said he thought fifth or sixth wouldn’t be failure but the Kronkes will think it is and if their American model is anything to go by then Edu and Mikel will go.
Overall I would say do not ignore history learn by it.

  12. Actually me and George disagree on very little as most subjects were in the same camp maybe small details but that’s it.
George is being modest that is favourite record because he was a massive part in discovering it and getting onto the decks as the first record played at Wigan.
It went on to have legendary status in the world of Northern soul as one of famous “three before eight” which were the last three records played at the end of all nighters at Wigan and then around the world. I have danced to it a thousand times and every Soulie has fantastic memories of it. George deserves great credit for his part on getting it onto the scene.

  13. Difficult debate around the two “littles” obviously on the one hand Little Richard was the creator of rock and roll and over his forty year span he made nearly 80 singles and sixty albums as opposed to the also hall of fame group little Antony and the Imperials who started only seven years later and are still going now and also have a large discography.
On a purely Northern soul basis the difference is between the raw high tempo voice that attacks the floor in little Richard as opposed to the smooth creamy mid tempo floaters of little Antony.
For myself being a huge Sam Cook fan I would go for Little Antony vocally and as I am older now the mid to slow tempo tracks helps me get to the floor and last the few minutes to the end of the record.

  18. I know that some people believe that I am not full of the joys of spring when it comes to our present administration. Indeed I still think we will finish outside the top four probably fifth.
I do however fully expect us to win all of our first five games and be top of the league when the window closes.
Certainly Palace haven’t had a smooth summer and although Paddy will make it difficult for us I think we will get the three points. Then Leicester at home who have lost a few players and have not signed anyone. We then play two newly promoted teams before finishing the five at home to Villa who are a midtable side who seem just about the same as last year with a couple of ins and a few outs.
With the decent first team we had last season and the amount of spending we have done including two players brought in from the champions we should be good for all five of these games.
Whatever happens I will be very excited come kick-off tomorrow night and thank God it’s back.

  19. I enjoyed the first episode of All or Nothing, and had forgotten how low the side was after the first three. They did well to shake themselves out of it.
What we don’t know is how much editorial control the club had of the series once having invited the cameras in for the season. In my limited experience of cameras coming into schools quite possibly not that much. The film makers tend to make the film they want to make – and a lot of the footage is discarded along the way.
Let’s hope tonight sees a more positive start than the disappointment that was Brentford this time last year.
