Hello everyone, how are yaaaaaaaaaaaaa?
In the podcast we look at the performance against Everton and I conclude it was one that reflected the underlying metrics that have been present in most games . It was not a particularly bad performance, it was what I expect to see now.
I don’t understand the outrage in the fanbase, what did they expect?
Once again Arteta blamed the players, it’s wearing a bit thin now.
Have a listen if you have absolutely nothing better to do and let us know your opinions.
Pedantic George.
Thanks to you both for the show, sure enjoyed listening in last night to what you had to say despite how pants we are at this season, and last season.
Do you think that Arsenal need,

Spuds conference game cancelled and although normally I would be thinking typical, on this occasion I think it’s the right decision.
European travel at this moment in such a small insignificant competition is pointless.
However the PL league games have to go ahead and if they are cancelled then something stinks.

our next four league games are
Southampton (H)
West Ham (H)
Leeds (A)
Norwich(A)
we need 4pts from those four games to match last seasons half way points total
last season at the half way point of the season we sat in 11th with a record of
P19 W8 D3 L8 GF23 GA19 GD4 PTS27
we currently sit in 7th with a record of
P15 W7 D2 L6 GF18 GA22 GD-4 PTS23
the fixed defense has already let in more goals in the 15 games than we had let in in 19 last season, we need 5 goals to match last seasons half way mark, but need 8 goals more than we let in to match the +4 goal difference, which seems highly unlikely without a total change in our scoring rate

A one legged Ramsey playing less then a dozen pl games a season would be more useful in this squad then say Partey.
He can pass a football!
Which is kind of useful in a midfield,
in a game of football?
The billy big ugly blaggers are struggling to explain to their gullible listeners why this squad is so bad at passing the football. People can speculate on the coaching but in the main it is the result of having midfielders who can’t pass a football.
Chelsea bought for silly money three good attacking CMs to replace Hazard and they won the CL. The irony of that happening whilst the blagging clowns demanded cloggers over footballers is not lost on me.

Bent as fuck the spuds having their game against Brighton rearranged with only eight squad members missing and 17 still available. Some teams have had more injuries than that in normal circumstances in fact Newcastle did earlier in the season. Obviously Lewis is paying out more under the table money again.

We don’t have, on the whole, top-four talent. We certainly don’t have a top-four manager, not at this point in his career and maybe never. We might have borderline top-six talent; it’s hard to say because, as George observes, the rest of the league bar the top three is mediocre or poor. The question is whether Arteta is close enough to a top-six manager to nudge the talent into the top six. I have my doubts.

looks like we don’t know what we are looking at, as Arteta has come out today and said that we do not sit back and defend once we take the lead. Oh no, we actually go for a second or third or fourth goal, it only looks like we sit back cos sometimes the opponents change their playing tactics once we take the lead. Jeez he spouts as much crap as Boris, and the idiots swallow it

our U18’s lost away to Colchester Utd 3-0 in the FA Youth Cup, dominated for long spells, but fell behind just before half time to a penalty, and then two late breakaway goals when pushing to get level, the annoying thing was that once again the ref in an AFC game decided that the gooners were not to get a penalty no matter how clear cut, there was 3 good claims for an Arsenal penalty, two of them looked nailed on, but not for the ref, he must want to get on in the game and knows the score.

Auba is not in the squad due to what Arteta calls a “disciplinary breach.” Which of course came after Arteta stuck his chest out and subbed on Eddie instead of Auba against Everton. Both acting like children. Meanwhile, the youngest players in the squad are modeling adult behavior.

There are times when Partey’s first touch is a little heavy, and scary, but he managed a nice first time pass in the build up for the classic one touch first goal.
Xhaka still recovering from the last game and not fully fit, it looked like Southampton could have scored more then once in the opening spell of the game when the Gunners couldn’t get a shot off but now it could be three to the Gunners.

Jittery start but that excellent first goal lifted the team. We have the pace to open up teams who press high.
We’ve given the ball away a few times with silly passes but if we maintain the moment that we ended with could be a comfortable win.
Southampton have been a bit of a bogey team to play against.

Eduardo somehow I had the impression we always struggle against them. The few times I have watched them against us at the Emirates we struggled. But 22 wins well that’s emphatic. As the result today which was emphatic and could have been easily 7 – 0
That was a good second half and thoroughly enjoyable. The way we swarmed all over them was something we have been asking for a while.
Now let’s go for another unbeaten run please

I have seen the rumours about Auba, Keown on MoTD seemed to confirm them, but whatever happened, Auba ,the club can decide with the facts, he isn’t our real captain, just in name only .
Perhaps the captaincy will go back to where it belongs ?

mandy I don’t think there is a cat is hells chance Xhaka will be captain again, Arteta will not do it as it would have the loud mouth fans on his back, and he is too good at PR to make that mistake.
There was no good reason for the Aubameyang story to come out, Arteta had no need to say it was for breaking rules, somethings should be kept inhouse, although I do find it funny that its not that long ago that Arteta was seeking the mole within the club that was telling tales to the media, now he is the one blabbing to them. Of course this leak suits him

Agree Eduardo, things and leaks may suit Arteta and the club. And such things are best kept in house, especially as the trip was sanctioned, though it seems lateness was a factor. I am sure at least one great captain of Arsenal has done far worse.
But as for captain, Xhaka seems the clear leader of this team and has done for a while, though take your point, but if Auba is stripped of the captaincy, and wouldn’t be surprised at that, who else? Can only think KT or Ramsdale in that event of it we’re not Xhaka? Would they be the right choices?

I heard a funny thing this week.
A billy big ugly blagger trolling their gullible audience with the gibberish that they have not had access to any data such as the data George and Shotts have been using for over a year (have they heard of the premier league table hello!) in order to explain why the football under Arteta has been shite to date.
These frothing clowns have only now had the revelation that a coach who pushed an injured player back onto the pitch might have some man management issues. And that is why we call them clowns.
never mind a comment on all the other stories and mismanagement, dropping of key players, as that is clearly asking for too much from such idiots
In the meantime the policy of enjoying every goal under this negative coach remains the best policy as there’s no idea what strange argument he’ll have with one of his players from this week to the next.

Pellegrini came a cropper at West Ham for two reasons:
He lost his two most key players to long term injuries and the team plummeted down the table.
And his two big expensive signings didn’t work out.
So the owners then went for another proven successful PL coach, who could speak English, and knew the league and players. Moysie.
I used to laugh hard at the owners of West Ham but over the last three seasons the chuckle brothers have shown themselves to be far smarter and more competent then the idiots running The Arsenal and the sycophantic clowns and blaggers who shamelessly sang the praises of K junior’s horror stories inflicted upon N5.
given his redemption at Betis and rehab of Bellerin I’d take the great coach Pellegrini at the Arsenal next season before you could say: “how much longer do you think this board will give Arteta before they blame him for their own mistakes”

It’s harder for the pgmob official to tilt against a non favoured team when they are at home (see the Everton game if confused)
And the dropping of the out of form Auba helped the team’s attacking play compared to some though not all recent games. That Southampton came to attack helped the Gunners, the Saints knew they were toast against a better team if they sat back like teams so often are when they retreat to the six yard line…
But if there’s going to be an Ozil type fallout in the squad from the coach falling out with a key/big player then again the pain will eventually outweigh any gain.
Though maybe Arteta is correct this time and dropping an out form Auba a few weeks before he goes to AFCON is the right move?
We can give Arteta the benefit of the doubt and hope he’s making a smart move whilst noting that the record tells us we should be cautious of such calls.
West Ham at Home is the biggest game of the season so far, possibly for the whole season!
Big calls ahead.

Having been totally outplayed for the first twenty minutes, at home against a poor team from the bottom of the table we should be thankful that the hammers have lost some key players in the last few weeks.
I think at the moment if a manager has not got the balls to make Xhaka Captain and support him through everything then only Aaron is the only other option especially as it’s difficult to know who Mikel favours.
It is strange that we win three nil and Aaron is still talked about as MOTM that shows we are still not really on track to being a good team.

some are asking who for captain if Aubameyang loses it or when he leaves. Well i’d say any player signed by Arteta who is a regular starter is most likely.

would Aubameyang have been dropped from the squad and his lateness exposed if he was playing well and scoring on a regular basis. I very much doubt it, these non-negotiable Arteta spouts about likely only apply when it suits Arteta and the club.

a week ago Arteta talked up Nketiah, and how much he wants the lad to stay, and indeed he was thrown in as a sub to try and save the day v Everton, so what changed in a few days, yesterday we were fully on top once we got ahead, and certainly once two up, so when Lacca was taken off why not give Eddie a chance to impress, why Pepe who has been frozen out completely for a number of weeks.

have to laugh at all the outrage at the Formula 1 race decision today. Silly stuff like “can’t see how a sport can operate in such a way” or “how can they disregard the rules when it suits them”, or the best one of all “how can they decide that the spectacle is more important than implementing the rules”.
Why its so funny and silly is that so many of those outraged at the decision are football fans, even football journos, who game in game out, week in week out, ignore the PGMOL game managers ignore the rules, operate the sport so at to promote and support the EPL brand, where certain rules of the game are ignored cos it suits the brand. How often do we hear pundits, commentators and journos spout out the throw away line “that would be a foul in any other league”, but never get outraged at it, never question why the rules of the game are ignored by our professional referees. Who it suits, why its ignored, or why do everyone from fans all the way through the journos, the media in general, the clubs, the players, the managers, the FA, the PL, all accept it as normal. As so many F1 fans are saying today, “how can a sport operate like that”, ha ha ha

Report – Substitute Mika Biereth hits winner as Arsenal U23s stage dramatic comeback to beat Southampton
U23 Premier League Cup
Southampton 2 (Watts 4, Olaigbe 45) Arsenal 3 (Ideho 21, Balogun 76, Biereth 80)
Arsenal U23s secured their first victory in the Premier League Cup this season, with substitute Mika Biereth completing an impressive comeback against Southampton.
The young Gunners have frequently come from behind recently when the odds have been stacked against them, and that proved to be the case again here.
Arsenal’s victory was all the more commendable when it is taken into consideration that they were without several key players – namely Charlie Patino, Omari Hutchinson and Brooke Norton-Cuffy – following their involvement in the FA Youth Cup.
Coach Kevin Betsy was still able to name a competent starting XI, with some of the lesser-used players such as Joel Ideho and Nathan Butler-Oyedeji being called upon. There was also a start for Kido Taylor-Harry, who hasn’t featured as much as he would have liked recently.
Goalkeeper Hubert Graczyk returned from injury to make the bench, where he was joined by Charles Sagoe Jr and Bradley Ibrahim, with the letter receiving his first competitive call-up at this level.
Ejeheri
Swanson–Rekik–Ogungbo–Lopez
Salah Eddine-Olayinka
Butler Oyedeji-Taylor Hart-Ideho
Balogun
Subs: Biereth (for Butler-Oyedeji, 58), Taylor-Hart (for Sagoe Jr, 86), Ideho (for Ibrahim, 86). Not used: Graczyk.
Southampton started well and they took the lead after just four minutes through Caleb Watts.
Arsenal responded in impressive fashion, with Joel Ideho equalising in the 21st minute with a lofted effort from outside the box after he noticed that Southampton goalkeeper Ollie Wright was off his line.
However, Southampton were awarded a penalty in the closing stages of the first half and Kazeem Olaigbe, who has been prolific this season, stepped up to score it.
Arsenal made an alteration in the 58th minute as Biereth came on to replace Butler-Oyedeji.
In the 76th minute Arsenal equalised again, with Balogun continuing his fine form by cutting inside and finishing well.
Just four minutes later Arsenal took the lead and it was Biereth who scored what proved to be the game’s decisive goal as he demonstrated excellent composure to turn and finish after being found by Ideho.
Betsy made a double change with five minutes left as Arsenal looked to see out the game. Sagoe Jr came on for Taylor-Hart, while Ibrahim made his competitive debut at this level as he replaced Ideho.
Arsenal still have work to do if they are to progress in the Premier League Cup, but they deserve a lot of credit for this performance.
