Dennis Saurez gave interview saying that he was not even 50% fit after 16 days at Arsenal.
One game sticks in my head, I think it was Man City away we were 2-3 down with 15 mins to go.
Ozil was on the bench ( i thought he was coming on @ halftime but stayed on the bench(this was shortly after the claim was made that Ozil can’t play away because of the physicality by the manager) I was thinking at the time Poor away fans who traveled as it was clear we were going to get beat but the fans had nothing to cheer, (cant remember too many chances being created or any pleasing football) at that moment with 15mins to go he brought on Saurez who had been in the country 5 days, ahead of Ozil. I knew something was up then but this really confirms it.
Not only had Denis Saurez not acclimatised to a new country , different way of playing , food, culture, language etc, the guy by his own admission was less than 50% fit.
I think that was the day i decided that this manager had his own interests and not the team or the fans interest at heart.
He played Saurez just to make a power statement and it has had a detrimental affect on team morale.
Look at the start of the season, everyone was bubbling looking forward to the season, people putting themselves forward to be captain, people saying they want to follow in legends footsteps, to how we finished the season low on morale and without a Scooby Doo.
I want the manager gone because i seen more conflict with the team than working to harmonise the team and make them a coherent unit.
Victory through harmony it certainly has not been.

With Juve, find it hard to understand where their financial power is coming from. Stadium isn’t huge. Champions league money been good in recent years but, far as I know, same owners all the while, and thought their tv deal distinctly modest compared to prem.
As for ffp with them…
Pretty sure trend still exists in Italy of clubs overstitching themselves, and owners injecting lots of money, often too much, into clubs.

I’m sad to see Danny Welbeck go. I respect those who have the opinion that Rashford might one day if he’s lucky with injury reach a higher level, but as far as English strikers go and:
For those knowledgable football people who describe Danny Welbeck as a decent back up:
He has a better scoring record for England in tournament football then Harry Kane (not inc. pens).
I haven’t checked the numbers, but i suspect that there is no need!
Another freebie out the door. Only a rung down from Ramsey in terms of status in The Game.

I also thought highly of Welbeck and am sorry to see him go.
I thought that that, apart for his amazing ability to completely miss the ball when given a shooting opportunity, he regularly seemed to be in the right position so many times.
I think the problem here was injuries.
Having been out for effectively 2 out of the last 3 seasons due to injury, I can understand why the powers that be decided not to renew.
I find the clamour to sell Auba in order to spend a ridiculous amount on Zaha is beyond strange.
What do these people use for brains?
Yes, sell our striker who scored more than 20 goals last season, in order to buy an ageing winger who scored a couple of goals last season, who has a problem staying on his feet.
Makes good sense, doesn’t it?

I can understand the consideration of injuries and letting Welbeck go for that reason alone.
given the nature of the last injury I just feel there’s a strong economic and football argument for him to mentor (as a senior English pro) and help bring though the likes of Nketiah, for a season or two, at least cheaper then bringing in some third rate journeyman on Suarez loan signing rates *coughs*.
Looking forward to your comments on the footy here next season (insert banned smiley face!).

If Arsenal are serious about Zaha as a senior wide forward and back up striker then there is some further logic in letting Welbeck go. Wide forward and back up striker.
I’d like to imagine that Iwobi for one will become a better forward then Zaha is, Nelson and others too, but it’s also true that Zaha is at or reaching his peak and the squad is short of that profile in that position. Anything to relegate Kolasinac from the attack (please note I mean just the attack! Not even to the bench…). Any. Thing.
The story could just be hype, the sale of the RB to Utd etc. but given the bbc story there could be some smoke in this rumour.

well fins what I find amusing about the talked about Zaha deal is that CP are said to want up to £100M for him and BBC are reporting that AFC have bid £40M, but might add in a player or two to the deal, not sure if that means a cut in the cash offered too, but for me its laughable to see AFC fans saying we should just give CP want they value the lad at, we really do have moronic fans.
AFC should bid no more than the fee they value the player at, not what the selling club value him at. For me there are far better players out there available for less than £40M, and most certainly less than £100M. His brother, who it seems is his agent has already made it clear that CP told Wilfred that they would not stand in his way if a club playing in European competition on a regular basis came in for him they would be open to selling him. Also that WZ really wants to join AFC, so the onus is on CP to move towards AFC valuation, not the other way round.

Looks like ManUre will get a cut from any Zaha sale too. The 100mill seems a bit nutty? Shurley he would already be playing for Barca or PSG etc if that was the true worth? Not sure 40mill is right either, are any other clubs have a sniff around too? Odd that he stayed at Palace all these years?

If you can get Zaha for 30-40m, ok. But apparently we’re talking about selling Lacazette to raise funds for Zaha and other targets. This is stupid. Which is why we’ll probably do it.
Zaha is not a consistent goalscoring threat, nor a creator. He does run at people and cause them to panic, but there’s very little end product. He’s a more flashy, stronger Iwobi. Except he’s at his peak and Iwobi is still improving.
Oh and he might win those penalties for Crystal Palace. He won’t get them for Arsenal. Not saying we don’t need dribblers out wide. But if you’re losing one of the two strikers for it he’s not worth it. Play Nketiah/Saka instead and tell them to run at people. Keep both Laca and Auba. Save money, build for the future, buy in other areas (such as midfield)

Sounds better than selling Auba or Lacca (what a stupid idea, lets take all our goals out the team and put on dribbler with not much Output).

What excites you most about this opportunity at Arsenal?
It is a dream since I was a child and also my family’s dream for me to be playing in Europe and playing for a big team like Arsenal. I am going to take this opportunity.
How did it feel to pull on that Arsenal shirt for the first time?
A very big moment, I am very grateful for everything, I am grateful to God and I will try to make the most out of it.
Do you know the history of the Brazilian players who have played for Arsenal?
I know a few. I know Edu, Denilson and I know that they have a lot of history at the club. Edu, in particular, I had a little contact with him at Corinthians as I had a spell there and I know they had a lot of success here but also for the national team. I am going to try to follow the same route.
You recently trained with the Brazil national team in preparation for the Copa America. What was the feeling of being there? How did you find out about the call up?
It was an amazing feeling, a dream come true, being able to be beside great players. I was home when I got the news and I was super happy. It is a great opportunity to learn and I enjoyed it as much as I could and I have to thank the team for welcoming me with open arms.

Young players Ben Cottrell, James Hillson and Joel Lopez have been rewarded with their first professional contracts for the club.
Our under-18s were crowned champions of the U-18 Premier League South last term, with Cottrell and Lopez playing integral roles, while Hillson signed on loan during the season.
Ben Cottrell is a young attacking midfielder and an Arsenal Academy graduate, who scored five and assisted three in 21 league appearances last season.
Ben also made his debut in the Premier League 2 last April, with the 17-year-old starring in a 5-0 win over Derby County. Ben, who is also an England youth international at under-18 level, joined our Hale End Academy as an eight year-old.
James Hillson is an 18-year-old goalkeeper who joined the club on an initial loan deal from Reading in February 2019. During this time, James featured regularly in matchday squads, including being an unused substitute in the Premier League U18 National League Final against Derby County. Although not making an appearance for the club last term, James impressed with his professional attitude and reliable performances in training.
Joel Lopez joined us as a scholar in July 2018 from Barcelona. The 17-year-old left-back is a product of Barcelona’s La Masia academy. He impressed for the under-18s last term making ten appearances during the title-winning campaign. Joel also featured in the FA Youth Cup last season.
Everyone at the club would like to congratulate Ben, James and Joel on their first professional contracts with the club and we look forward to their continued progress with us.

They have the same element in them, same as the Nazis: self destruction as well as the destruction of others. Its deep in them like they dont even know that it eats away in them.
Why be a MEP on 90,000 a year and vote yourself out? Why vote for the Communist party when you know it means your death and repression, why vote for the Nazis when it means your death in a battlefield or following disgusting orders that will haunt you til you die and collective shame for decades or longer? Why want Wenger out when those who knew, knew it would be worse. It is. Whose a happy camper in club de Arsenal at the moment? ” i think we should get rid of Wenger, and drop down to 9th then that will wake us up”. Fork me. Fraggle fuckin rock brain.
Shitxit means the end of Britain, (bye Schottland and N Irland hello war on border again etc, Im nit sure todays public could cope with the irish war how it was inthe 70s and 80s?) and the end of the rule of posh people even though thats why they are fighting for it, how spiffing. After Shitxit who will the go for? Muslims, Blacks and Jews, the poor and anyone else. “its all your fault I cant live in Heartbeat 1962 world”.
Sell Auba and Lacca and get Zaha. get rid of Weng and become a boring side who destroys its best players and made a big mess of the season.
If Farages mentor Thatcher had it all so sewn up with trade why did Major put the Uk in the EU? Because it was forked. (ps Arsenal fan the Queen says why isnt it the united Queendom! #metoo!).
Today was a disgrace in the Eu ( oh look some people suddenly found out in that Brussels they are represented!). Really embarrasing like a 6th form protest. ” I will not eat garlic!” ” up the Empire” “wheres Matrons baps and the ginger ale?”.
Arsenal got shafted by the Wobs and Britains been shafted by sociopathic self destructive nostalgic paranoids, the Wobs. what a load of kack.
But flux laughs to see such fun and the Shitxit ran away with the loon.

Years ago Picasso made a big splash amongst the bourgeoisie by saying that he would join the Communist party. How much he knew of the 30s, and post war situation in the CCCP I have no idea. Ironically the price of his (plagiarised) works went right up.Somebody then went to Giacometti and asked him would he be joining. No he replied, everything I am and do is seen a decadent. Why would I take a stand that eliminated myself?
Leaving Marx aside, this week having seen the pathetic nature of the Little Englander raise its head ( dont get me wrong, most countries have this element in them) I keep think about the fact that so many humans carry a self destructive element in them as we all go on our pseudo righteous paths.
WTF is happening at AFC? Was there a final clue in the Big Wengs farewell speech when he said ” take care of the values of this club”? Did he know we would all be thrown into a stay of supportive limbo? Are the clubs values ebbing away? Perhaps we are not all in limbo, just me and a few others? Where does this feeling come from?-it is there for sure,at least from my perspective it feels like that. We seem still hungover from the EL final ( a truly bizarre moment in the Arsenal memory album), feeling like Raul now runs the club, Stans silent ( whether thats good or bad I have no idea), Emery faces “do or leave” this year. Perhaps he will pull it off, and do the double or even beat Wengs record and do the triple. But from here going to there it doesnt feel like it. He also feels part of the problem in that often his football direction seem very negative, his usage and abusage of players seem bewildering. If he doesnt pull it off then we had two years of limbo.50 shades of grey and no nookie. Just beating off?
Ok the self destructive element of AFC support was pacified with shouting and arm waving and intense pre- season training. Big deal, does he shout in Spanish-in which case the majority of the team arent aware of what he says? Nor are they looking over their shoulders to see where hes pointing too. So we got to a final, but everything was a step back? Does evolution work that way? Most regressive conservative systems unless utterly rigid seem to fail?
To me the evolution of AFC was meant to grab the baton and keep morphing along the lines until new visionaries would lift us to an even higher level. Well im not getting a nose bleed.
From thought we get action, from thought we get emotion. It doesnt feel like we are going to get up and be active and challenge City or Liverpool. It emotionally feels redundant? It will change of course, and as I wrote, maybe we will win the league. But it doesnt feel like that. The buzz round the club isnt that. What is there to grab onto?
Sorry for not being Positive. But what lies underneath Positively Arsenal? Is that all its ever been? Or was it to stop the self destruction? Many believed that Weng was the problem, but life is so utterly complex ( astrophysics to quantum physics, chemistry, and chaos theory fry up our brains in that we see we dont understand our lives or environment too well) that it was never the case. Just the latest scapegoat? Are Emery or Raul the lastest scapegoats for my thinking?
Dont get me wrong, I understand that neg and pos exist and we cant know one without the other, but what lies beyond these concepts? Possibilities mostly, it seems?
The religious people in their scriptures said Love was the answer. Well they have been perplexed on how to love. And the hippies went very loving when we look back down the years. But compassion was the key and answer to that, form that notin we have understand and form there forgiveness etc or whatever. But thats tough, to be compassionate towards the club when the trade off is one of limbo and internal strong destruction and a very, very limited amount of hope. I would trade touchline shouting for a better defensive set up ( which our back four are capable of ) I would trade pre season hell-bent training for a captain that pulls everyone together when we’ve gone 1-0 down at Twatford on a cold April Tuesday. But I would want a team to respond to the captain and understand what it means to play football. Shurley its not that tough? Aint no different to being in a band or in a film. Poor musicianship or dogshit songs and the fans bugger off, same in a film if its poorly acted. I dont want to be in Ed Wood FC. (anyway the real story of Ed Wood is pretty moving and tragic and nothing like the biopic). It really is similar, one massive part of football is entertainment/show biz. I dont want to tune into Stoke City soap opera, because I got used to looking at higher quality. And fuck me, we had a good director and good actors. Now it feels like provincial rep? Now thats a nice thing, if thats your bag and where you want to be( all is counter structures and a false idea of authority, even in sport any pseudo authority is subjected to massive flux) . But I like internationalism, dignity, flair technical brilliance, relativity and understanding, intelligence and community. All look to City and Liverpool, to Barca Real Madrid, often to Bayern or PSG. Why? Because those values live on there.
Rambo left, not because of the money. He left because the values went down the kasi in his mind. The time was ripe for him to be the main AFC man. Now hes drinking Illy coffee in the after noon and shocked that such strong coffee doesnt turn you into a mad ranting reject from AFTV media. Nice. But not for us?
I wrote this as Im starting to see how systems self destruct from the inside. In evolution its a dangerous game, one that can lead into cul de sacs with big barking dawgs and flirts with extinction. We, knew where to go next. And last year we didn’t go there. We didnt evolve? Is that why this feels like limbo? A provincial Farage limbo.
Maybe Arteta and Freddi will take over next year. Maybe that will be pants too, or maybe we do the biz? But something is not right at Arsenal? First time ever, I really get it what Shankly was going on about with football being more than a game. Its so complex.
