Bon Voyage To The Real Mr. Arsenal

Arsene-Wenger1

So here we are , the great man leaves us at the end of this so far disappointing season. It’s very much in the hand of or players how the last act plays out, but ultimately even winning the Europa League will be no more a happy ending to what will forever be remembered as beautiful journey.

For twenty two years we have had the absolute privilege of watching a visionary transform Arsenal before our very eyes. We have seen the best of the best football and witnessed team after team, built and rebuilt, all trying to play the beautiful game in the most beautiful of ways. Of course it’s not always worked. We have had disappointments and calamities along the way, but even then, those teams were sent out to play entertaining and expansive football, that they often failed doesn’t really matter. The point is they tried. WERE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?

Twenty two years of press conferences when we could witness the wit, class and brilliance of a man that quite frankly I found to be an inspiration, and I say without shame, a hero.

Arsenal will go on and Positively Arsenal will do what we have always done, support the manager and his staff and the players. If Arsene has taught us anything ,its that the club come first. I for one am going to celebrate that we had the man lead us for twenty two years. I will not be bleating about how unfair the end was, because it matters not . He will be gone and everything he has done for us will help us in the future.

His like will never been seen again, but we saw it, we have it and no one tan take it  away from us. the man is INVINCIBLE.

  5. A day of mixed emotions. On one hand am sad he is leaving, but on the other am happy he for him to finally get the credit he so richly deserves and am also excited by the prospect of what’s to come.
Words cannot express how much I love and admire Arsene Wenger. His conduct, his demeaneur, his calmness but most importantly, the way that he responded to adversity was second to none. Even when the media tried to belittle him, he still responded to them in a calm and respectful manner even when he didn’t have to. All the tributes from former players, rival managers, rival players and rival fans shows you just how much he is admired World over, except in England that is.
Its truelly astonishing that the England national team has continued to be absolutely abject and devoid of any kind of structure and technical players all the while they have a true visionary of the game in their midst who is willing to give them pointers and instead they are busy trying to get him fired and spreading rumors about him so fans can hate him.
This season marks the end of a great era, and next season we begin a new chapter.
p.s. Kinda feel for ArsenalFanTv and the like, they are going to go extinct before the year ends.

A long time coming this. I’ve thought about how this would unfold for many years. So sad that it’s ended. At the moment the only thing I can think of is that Athletico had better be quaking in their boots. The current players owe such a debt to the man that they had better play out of their skins.

I’m not venturing further than this site and have ditched twitter a while ago. I can’t imagine what’s going on in that particular shit hole. I really hope that I’m not right about the fact that Wenger has been making this club and our board punch way above our weight. I’m full of what ifs at the moment. Eduardo’s leg break, and subsequent wobble. The bad timing of the stadium build. He’s been our greatest manager but it could have been more.

    4-20 my arse. Shit day.

I started supporting Arsenal in 1998 after watching the most dreadful 0-0 home draw against Palace in the 5th Round of the FA Cup – but I only really began to take a proper and fanatical interest at the start of the 2012/13 season. In many ways, then, I am a rare Arsene fan in that my great respect for him developed at a time when many felt he was already past his prime. But he still managed to win three FA Cups in that time while also demonstrating an ability to change and adapt far, far greater than most ever even realised. I believe that he is one of the greatest sporting figures of my lifetime, and it has been a privilege to watch his work. His legacy will live long for both Arsenal and the game.

I have secured a ticket for the West Ham game on Sunday which will be my chance to say a proper thank you

There’s no denying that football in general has lost a bit of itself today with Arsène Wenger’s announcing his imminent departure. I just wanna say thanks to everyone in this community for giving me the confidence to not be afraid to express my appreciation for this great man, because his influence transcends beyond the football field and because of him I think we are better people than we were 20 years ago.

  10. The malcontents just see the fame in infamy, ed.

They had nothing to do with this though, lest they get their heads bloated any further. The media ran a 10 year long campaign and they simply followed.

Maybe Wenger realised that another season without VAR would bring the same refereeing performances, the same coverup from the media, and the same faux outrage from the ‘fans’.

He probably feels he’s done enough now that the club has gotten the structures in place. He might even feel it will allow the club to go on upwards without the sort of disadvantages he has had to face.

He left the job of protecting the values of the club to us. The Arsenal lovers. The malcontents do not fit that description and never will. Of course they’ll be back making a spectacle of themselves and the club they claim to love. They can have their 15 seconds and their 30 pieces. It will make no difference to the legacy of this great club, and the great man who made it greater.

    One Arsene Wenger.

We are working on plans and I think West Ham on Sunday will be a great atmosphere. Thursday [against Atletico Madrid] will be electric and I think the Burnley game on May 6 will be a send-off that the world will take notice of.

  14. Arsene Wenger is leaving our club in a good shape.
I wish he wasn’t leaving, but as George posted, the failure of the PL to introduce VAR might have disheartened him.

  15. if Ivan and Arsenal are serious about giving Wenger the send off he deserves then the first step should be to ban the Sun and Neill Ashton, John Cross and the Mirror from all our press conferences and games. Shower of cunts

  16. Ivan should probably do a lot of things to various members of the media but guess his role is political . The best thing we can do to them is unite as fans, the players unite and carry the team to wengers final Arsenal trophy.
Quite sickening to see figures who have been doing their best to hound him out coming out with their sugar sweet tributes. But equally heartening to read genuinely affectionate tributes from those who care and always have done. Bob Wilson will never let us down.

  20. Already hit home one of the things I underestimated- how much I enjoy having a manager who truly trusts young players and is serious about giving them opportunities.

It was on my mind within 5 minutes of hearing news.

I didn’t weigh that nearly heavily enough in his favour. It’s not like all the young talent in the club now has no chance, and hopefully it’s not that they now have little chance, as is the case elsewhere, but unfortunately their chance has decreased.

I hope the board are as serious ,in deed, about it as Wenger was. Realistically, the only way to do so is through proving to a new manager the short-term risks involved are worth his while. It’s a very tall order.

  21. Rich the board will be appointing a manager who knows he has to promote the youth, he aint going to have the budget to do it any other way, the WOB will soon enough find out that it was never Wenger refusing to spend, he just did not have the money, and any reluctance to spend was due to having to be cautious not to spend big on the wrong player, it led to lots of cheap punts. Since 2014 we have been able to buy a big money player or two each season.
We might very well see the new manager spend big this summer, following our usual pattern of little outlay followed by good spend the next summer. We spent little last summer(net spend) so this summer we are due to spend big. I have no doubt that we will see Arsenal spend loads of money this summer, easily above £100M (Wenger done that this season by the way), but unless we cash in on Ramsey, and get good money for a few more, we will see massive net loss on transfers this summer. Of course when we do, the malcontents will claim its proof that Wenger refused to spend, ignoring that we have for some time only spent big every second season.

  22. One thing not mentioned by anyone at the club yet in connection with Wenger’s leaving is what will happen to the first team coaching staff.

    Steve Bould – assistant manager
Boro Primorac – first team coach
Neil Banfield – first team coach
    Gerry Payton – goalkeeping coach
    Sal Bibbo – goalkeeping coach
Jens Lehmann – first team coach

not forgetting all the medics and fitness guys and all the other backroom staff, and lets not forget Vic Akers

All those coaches have at least a year left on their contracts.

I can see Primorac and Payton going, but unless the new guy has a whole team of coaches he insists on bringing in too, I don’t see wholesale changes to our back room staff.

  29. Yes, we all knew the day was encroaching. I‘m very sad, surprisingly so. Guess we are never as prepared for loss as we think we are. Funilly enough, Mourinho of all people came close to how I feel for Arsene with his „ if he‘s happy, I‘m happy. If he‘s sad, I’m sad.“. I‘m so grateful for the journey he took us on, the entertainment, the beauty, his dedication, hard work, integrity, fight, turn of phrase, well timed honesty and descent, his protection of what are now our values, and of the players, and above all his humanity, and love of our club. His likes will not be seen again. Unless, someone out there is inspired to emulate him as he did Chapman.
Arséne, take some time to heal yourself, reboot your visionary spirit, reinvent yourself in whatever role inspires you and give it your best. I guarantee you it will be head and shoulders above anything anyone else in that field has to offer. What a manager, what a man, what a human being.
Thank you for the fantastic job you have done for us. I will love and respect you for ever.

  32. I just have the feeling that our next manager will be Luis Enrique, ticks a lot of the boxes, and one of the guys (Raul Sanllehi) whose job it is to find our next manger has appointed him in the past at Barcelona,
Enrique is a manager whose teams play attacking football, he comes from a background where the players are bought for him and its up to him to coach them and mold them into a team. It used to be the way at Barcelona that they would bring through youth from their academy, that is not happening now, but it was still happening when he was their manager. Of course we neither have Barcelona’s money or their appeal to a player, so it remains to be seen if he would come, but we would be offering him a massive contract and he has already shown he is not afraid to leave Spain, as he managed Roma in the past.

What I meant was Quina the young Portugal midifielder was their best outifleld player and quite good. A player that Arsene Wenger was interested in.
Due to the comentator trying suggest that WHU were actually having some sort of parity,
Quna was their best player behind Nathan Trott the GK.who kept WHU in the game.

Eduardo, agree with you on the coaching departures, but hopefully some of these dedicated men will be staying on, Ivan hinted very strongly at future coaches working within structures already in place, rather than what Moyes did at Utd , replace the whole backroom with his men, with fairly unconvincing effect.
Hopefully true Arsenal men like Bould Jens and Per will stay in some role and help the new man assimilate to what this club is.
