Arsenal- Twinned With Wembley

We go into the opening showpiece game full of fear and trepidation. All of our good players want to leave ,are injured, or are not fit enough to start. We had to rig the result of our own tournament so we could win it. We have signed a striker we thought wasn’t good enough for four years and a leftback that couldn’t even get a renewal at his own club. Every other team has improved and we have,at best, stood still.

What? You don’t believe me? It’s true, I’ve been on twitter since May and that’s what seems to be the consensus.

I know what you are thinking ! “He’s gone mad “. But I kid you not.

I mean, I remember the wonderful way we won the FA Cup and think we have kept all the players we wanted too,  added a £50m striker and a beast of a wingback. I should be looking forward to the new season. What’s wrong with me?

Well the truth is I am excited by the prospect. I love the players we have and I like the new boys. If we can’t enjoy the season before any setbacks have had the chance to blight it, when can we?

I have no idea what sort of a team Arsene will cobble together for the game on Sunday and frankly, I don’t care. Whoever pulls on the shirt will get my support. Whatever the result, I will enjoy watching them try their best. A win would be lovely and will prove we are a force to be reckoned with, but if we lose I’ll find it easy to dismiss the result as just a friendly. Hypocrite you say? And then some.

So Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more. Football is supposed to be fun, enjoyable, entertainment even. I intend to be entertained for the next 9 months, others can suit themselves.

Oh, and by the way, we are going for our 9th consecutive Wembley win I think.

Up The Arsenal

  2. I posted this on the last thread earlier today but think it is apt for this article too

the Kroenke out and the wenger out brigade must be really pissed off, all these years campaigning, protesting and undermining Arsenal, and nothing, just complete failure. Yet little over 24 hrs of complaints by animal rights activists and Kroenke takes action and takes the offending programme off his channel.
Surely this is evidence that Kroenke actually does listen, does take a big interest in what is going on in his business interests, and so the only sensible conclusion we can draw on the Kroenke out and Wenger out protests is, Stan has noticed, has listened, has weighed up the pros and cons, and DECIDED the sad fuckers haven’t got a clue, and has ignored them completely.

  3. Having come through our academy to rise to global stardom, Jack Wilshere will always have a special place in the hearts of Arsenal fans.

But what does the future hold for him? Arsene Wenger has been discussing the England international and his return from injury.

This is what he had to say:

on whether he expects him to stay…
That decision is not completely made, I want him to have a chance to play somewhere as well. We have to decide that a bit later. I wanted first for him to come back, he is coming out of a fracture. It is the first week he is back in full training and we have to sit down together and see where we go from there.

on having always wanted the best for him…
I made him start at a very young age. He has gone through difficult times, I want him to have the career he can have and I am quite open on that.

on whether his time has passed at the club…
It is not passed because he has the talent to be regular, but he has to come back to competition in a consistent way.

  6. Pretty tricky to judge Kolasinac already, but for me the Lacazette signing isnt 100% about the calibre of the player, more the message it sends out. We’ve been calling out for Wenger to go out and spend £40 million+ on a striker, and now he’s done it. Don’t get me wrong, i’m still Wenger Out, but now he’s signed a new contract we have to get behind the team. Like the way it was written though and agree with many of your other points

    Lavar Ball
Probably the first time he is being mentioned on PA
But the ‘braggadocious Compton boy with a dream’, has changed the game for all sportsmen, teams and dare I say it franchises.
The elite sportsmen, have been pushing the sponsership envelope for somtime, what Ball has now done is broken the seal on the partnership format, wherein the the player developes his brand with synergy support from his club.
Neymar deal sees the new trend with the elite sportsmen, (I predict now Lebron will go to the Lakers next year)
Promoting ranges of products across fan bases a small for instance social media on Twitter alone PSG following 4.0 mill compared to Neymar 31 mil
Facebook 30 mill to 60 mill and so on. PSG team clothing Nike Neymar national team Brazil clothing Nike and so on.
Hotels, gyms, spa resotrs ,aftershave, shoes and sundry lifestyle branded products wil be direct marketed to us all through our beloved club, this creep has been coming slowly for several years.
Lavar Ball has recognised part of the landscape and is leveraging his vision to knick a bit,so Mr Wengers vision of the future regarding tranfers wil not be far oif the mark.
This is what the future looks like around sports business or perhaps one version?
    All in da game yo!

SkyBet and Aunty Bleeb have given us the gift of plundit extraordinaire Joey Barton. Maybe not an exact mirror of what you describe but it’s, unfortunately, what we’ve got! There are a number of frustrated agents out there, including many recently retired players and mangagers too.

  14. amazing the rapid rise of 17 year old Joe Willock, he only made his debut for our U23’s in our last fixture of last season, and now a few short months later he is in our first team squad for the Community Shield. Up till his promotion to the first team for preseason he was seen as a forward, but so far for the first team he has played as a central midfielder.

Arsenal been the better side, Lacazette went very close to opening the scoring, hit the post with a curling effort. Iwobi shot straight at the keeper too. Cech with a couple of saves too.

Energy levels been good and some good quick first time passing and lots of movement.
