Arsenal’s Nine Years Of Failure.

I keep hearing this “nine years of failure” .

Now, lets for a moment forget that for many of us the last nine years has been a tremendous success. Perhaps Arsene’s greatest achievement. And run with the nine years shit.

Why nine years?

Why “nine years and only one real trophy”?

Why not one year and one trophy?

Or two years and only one trophy?

Well its simply because that particular snapshot suits the malcontent in their attempts to discredit Arsene.

It wouldn’t be as good if they said “2 trophies in 10 years“.

Or 3 in 11

Or 5 in 13 !

No, they want to pick a start date that suits their stupid notions , while ignoring the stadium move that coincidentally matches their chosen parameters.

For their 9 years , these halfwits demanded world class signings, despite it being obvious to all but the specially stupid, that Arsenal did not have the money to get them. However, now we have some money and world class talent is being bought they still refuse to accept that the wheel has turned.

The very first year Arsene was able to keep his players and add world class, we won a trophy. But no. they cling to the period of austerity while simultaneously refusing to accept its existence. Irony gone mad?

They point to an article in one newspaper that claimed Arsenals wages MIGHT exceed that of Chelsea’s as evidence that we should be on a par with them. Yet when you look at it, just about every player in every position at Chelsea is on far higher wages than his counterpart at Arsenal.(including the manager) so how the hell can our wages be greater than theirs? Its beyond stupidity to think that. Sadly though, these people are all beyond stupid, and accept it gladly.

Another thing that they are happy to ignore is that the squads of Chelsea, City and United cost around twice that of Arsenals. Twice. Did you hear me? I said twice. Yet were are supposed to be on a par because for 2 years we have been able to buy one world class player . They are also happy to ignore that in these last two years they have been buying more than one world class player per year.

In short these “realists”, as they like to call themselves, not only do they completely ignore reality, but they move the goalposts every single time their stupidity is exposed. The goalposts are moving with such pace at the moment that Theo couldn’t keep up with them.

Now the parameters have narrowed to “he hasn’t beaten Jose“. How narrow will they become before these tools shut up and get on with supporting?

NINE YEAR OF FAILURE ??? DO ME A FAVOUR.

I’d have thought that he was scheduled for rotation in the home game against QPR but even Bellerin was out with injury for that game!

  3. fins the point is that too many of our talented players do not take stand up to be counted on far too many occasions. Arteta never hides, Ramsey despite the stick he gets from the boo boys, never hides either, giroud usually gives his all too, and yes of course we missed them today, but them missing is no excuse for the lack of effort from so many today, its also no excuse for the mistakes our defense made so often today too. the fact is that when missing some of our best players, it up to everyone else to put in more effort, not less, its up to others to stand up and be counted, not wait for someone else to do it.
Tony Woodcock made the point a few years ago, that the very least you should expect from any players who is selected for Arsenal, is 100% effort, and that sadly we don’t get this. No can deny the talent in our squad, but too often we lose the battle, we like today, self inflict the damage, and that is attitude. too often a token effort is put in, the tackle is lost, the handy foul is looked for, etc. I even see this in our youth teams and that means there is a problem and its being tolerated and that should just not happen.

  4. well lack of rotation is partly self inflicted too, yes we have 1 9 or 10 players unavailable today, only one of which was suspended, how many of the others are out injured cos they were not rotated enough, or could not be rotated enough cos we started the season with the squad short of numbers, we not only have free spaces in the 25 man squad, we have Diaby taking up a place in it too, if we had brought in a few extra players then even with our injury list we could rotate more.

There is also the notion that Wenger actually does not use his young players enough, yes he has overused Chambers, but under used Bellerin, Campbell, Hayden, surely these 3 could have got even a couple of games more each and that would have meant more rest for others. For me rosicky does not do enough, but many rate him very highly, but either way, what is the reason why he has barely got a game, why do our subs get so little playing time in games too, we used only two today, Akpom was brought on with about 5 minutes left, and that this season has not been unusual, can anyone put forward a reason for this.

Fins, yes hayden was out for six weeks at a time when he would most likely have been used, (I believe he had actually been selected for a game then got injured in training), but my point is that he is unlikely to get rotated in now he is back. It would be a last resort.

  8. You can’t use Hayden as an example!

Bellerin had a recent niggle and is being well managed. Remember that we’ve seen graded introductions of young players since Chamberlain arrived.

Chambers was also overplayed by the England manager. The thing is, all managers overplay players. And players on occasion ignore their physios! Always have. Always will.

On the possible sale of Podolski, it is a bit odd that despite Ozil, Walcott and Giroud missing a large chunk of the season that after 20 league games Pod and Campbell have not started a league game, pod with 7 as sub and campbell with 4 as sub. Rosicky has only started 2, had not started any of the first 17.
I feel that the die was cast for Podolski when he returned in very poor shape after the World Cup. Wenger and the coaching staff were annoyed at the poor condition he came back in. He was in the worst condition of the 3 Germans, despite having played the least at the WC. I can’t help but feel that Wenger had a little dig at him during his press conference the other day when he said it was up to players to prove they are worth their wages and their love for the club – its reported Pod is on £4.5M a year, and he likes to tweet about his love for AFC – but his actions don’t back his tweets it seems.

Wenger said its likely that Sanogo will go on loan, and that he wants it to be with a FAPL club, so if both go out, will it mean another striker/forward is coming in, or just that now with Ozil and Theo back we have no need for Pod and that Akpom can get some game time, and it might help him sign a new deal to stay.

I had thought that the league cup game was the moment when Plodders put himself in danger.
Ozil was referred to as a forward so i guess that means that he will play some games from the left?

I’d give good odds on Rosicky getting more minutes. No idea about Campbell.
Akpom is in the first team squad already, with Gnabry probably returning with the U21s he’s going to get a chance. Interesting options in that section of the squad going forward, lots of competition, Afobe a consideration too. Though I’d imagine that he needs to catch up with his peers on experience so although it might be better for AFC if he stayed it might be better for his development to stay on loan next season if possible (could be out of contract at the end of the season) and to carry on playing every week.

  17. we all know Podolski has a hammer of a left foot, and is a very good finisher, but we also know that he has little else to his game, Germany were crying out for a striker at the World Cup and he did not get a look in, they went with Klose ahead of him, says it all, Pod just goes missing for far too much of games and for far too many games. He loses the ball too easily, and his work rate is very poor, and its pointless sending a high ball up to him, he won’t battle for it, but my God he scores some rockets. Of course despite him failing at Bayern Munich too, and as already stated, failing to hold down a place with Germany for a few years now, it will be all Wenger’s fault that Pod has not developed his game at all since he was about 22.

It also did not go down well with Arsenal that Podolski flew to Germany a couple of times to watch Koln play only 48 hours before Arsenal games a couple of times this season. as wenger hinted earlier in the week, its up to players to prove their worth and of course their love of the club, and not merely tweet about it.

  24. The brain seems to be working better today:

What I was trying to articulate yesterday was that if any the concern for me was not so much the errors* but that they came after a spell of pressure or a good chance. Of not taking chances and letting anxiety creep into their game.

Not just Arteta but a fit Ozil and Ramsey helped to keep this team calm on the pitch. To keep their eye on the ball.

*i was of the impression that this third game in a row was a big ask for the returning Debuchy & Kozza too (two games only), hence the pre-KO clucking.

Koscielny’s fitness going forward may be a concern, impossible to guess but he’s quite good and a replacement, even a worthy understudy (as Chambers could be for the BFG?) if he manages to keep on going will not be easy to find.
Alas such a swashbuckling style of defending cannot be easy on the body but it’s great to watch

  25. The most successful and influential manager in Arsenal’s history fighting for his reputation, Arsenal without Arsene Wenger would be a very different club then the one that has won two doubles, continually qualified for the Champions League, has moved into a stadium that rivals many of the best arenas worldwide and gone a whole domestic league season unbeaten. I’ll repeat that last one because the enormity of that achievement warrants an encore. The Arsenal side of 2003/04 played thirty-eight games and not one opposing team was able to defeat them. Just for that he would have a job for life if history had taken a massive fork and resulted with Wenger taking up residence at White Hart Lane, to all the Arsenal fans getting behind the ‘Wenger Out’ campaign take a minute and be thankful. Be thankful that Wenger has given you all those wonderful memories and be thankful that you have never had to put up with the likes of Juande Ramos, Christian Gross and Jacques Santini. You’ll be back eventually. Because those of us who’ve been around football long enough know its about ups and downs.

On came Jose. I do not think I have seen any manager quite so rattled, to the point of being unable to answer any question put to him by the Sky man with the mike ( soft enquiries though most of them were). Nervous, irritable, poor eye contact with his interlocutor, clenched jaw, glazed expression, muttered monosyllables, a whiff of paranoid conspiracy theory.

  31. I don’t know if I can say this without sounding altruistic or extremely arrogant.

I do believe Mourinho has two sides (something most people I know do too), its just that his two sides are so glaringly different. As Xavi once said, Mourinho the person is likeable but Mourinho the manager is despicable.

When you are playing the role of an employee, you just do what your company wants..if results is all you want and you dont care as to how you represent your club then good for you..bitch all you want in the most undignified manner devoid of any values or principles. You also endear yourself to all those naive supporters/fans who mistake this pretense of vulnerability as passion for football. Its all a beautifully scripted drama and he is a master..there is no question about it.

Finally, when it comes to the most important thing – the football!. he always has good players at his disposal who manage to unlock defenses quite well..I really don’t believe he has a philosophy nor does he interpret the game in a positive way.

Let him rant! let him win (whenever he wins)! I hate CFC as a club..I have nothing personal against one man (who is too small to discuss) who does what he thinks is good for his club.

  32. I haven’t seen much of the three games after Christmas, so thanks to one and all for keeping me vaguely up to date. Would it be fair to say that without any of Wilshere, Ramsay, Arteta and Ozil to complement the significant skills of Cazorla and Chamberlain we lack the ability to impose ourselves in midfield, and that given the last time any of those played was the first half against Gala it is not surprising that we have lacked real control. Even the most parsimonious would admit there is a limit to how long you can make do and mend, and it was only a matter of time before something came home to roost. Which it seemed to do yesterday, but might have done before.

And I am not sure therefore what the answer is given that the jury must now be out as to whether the first three of those can be relied upon (if any physical sportsman can be relied upon) to play significant and lengthy roles again, given their misfortunate injury record over the last year. I suppose that the same is also true of Ozil, although I sense he will be fine. These are not criticisms of the players, nor the regime, but merely me wondering what I would do if faced with the current situation. I doubt much can be done this January as I think it unlikely many players are available, but looking to the future I suspect that some difficult decisions will need to be made.

Why did akpom or Campbell not just start as striker? its AWs job to choose, but at times, its just baffling. Why do we not take these chances? both times Chelsea have lost, we have also lost..

How did Cambers fare as a DM… am guessing the result seems to be clouding reference to his actual performance?

  35. cant for the life of me why all the reporters are saying we played so badly yesterday when we just made a couple of individual errors and gifted soujthampton a couple of goals. Szczeney was given a mark of three in one paper and yet his handling on crosses was excellent and he made a couple of very good saves. The second goal was down to him however considering how jittery the back four were it was almost expected that he felt he had to deal with everything himself. also if were that bad how come forster was so good, a keeper cant play so well if the other side are poor it doesnt work like that. I think that is the poorest a fully fit first choice back four has played for a long time which is a shame because a tighter performance would have seen us come away with all three points. le coq again had a good game in midfield and going forward we looked dangerous for most of the game. once again a referee made a absolutley disgraceful descision and once again this was lost because we were 2-0 down. Theo was very quiet probably proving Arsene right once again(and alot of people wrong including me) in not playing in our previous three games although I think Hull might be ideal game time for him. To be honest i’m sort of hopeing hull dont turn up as bruce thinks its a home game.

  43. I think its not very simple to understand as to why he acts the way he does in front of media. I believe he is a very intelligent man and he knows when he says Chelsea are being unlucky he is only telling you the half truth..he sells it so well. I am mostly sure he is aware of all the luck they have enjoyed except for the last 2 games of the season..he knows about the Cahill penalty, diego costas escape from red and many many others that went in his teams favor through the season.

The answer for his strange behavior could be manifold..some of them I think are:
    a.
Arsene has to answer questions about his players..our GKs faults are questioned, our midfielders performance is berated, our strike force.s potency is questioned. While with Mourinho, they only ask him one question and he goes on a rant, he gives tidbits and anecdotes..he doesnt give crisp answers and does not let the reporters question his players..if our defenders conceded 5 goals Arsene has to answer for their performance.

There have been numerous coaches in the history of sport who have employed this tactic..Herb Brooks did it..Brian Clough did it and so on..

    b.
He either derives strength from confrontation or is naturally confrontational in matters where he thinks its acceptable or hides his weakness by being confident/confrontational.

There are people who I have seen, know them to be properly polite ..when get into a car become aggressive riders..when playing poker act extremely irritably..when playing snooker become arseholes..all this only gain one-upmanship..I think every one of us does this..again some more glaringly so than others.

    c.
or maybe i was wrong the whole while and he is really blinded by his “passion”. this passion is clearly not passion for football but passion to win, passion to succeed – pure passion for material success. he is always restless when it comes to his profession ..he doesnt care what he looks like in front of others, about what he says..so he doesnt think before saying anything..he doesnt mind being a hypocrite..doesnt mind outright lying..doesnt mind anything ..he is defending himself at any cost..

In real life he cannot be like this..he needs his players..he needs his family ..he needs his friends..he has to be consistent, have values etc. he needs to be a PERSON. (person comes from the word persona..which means a veneer, a veil, a mask!)

In any case..I don’t believe he is an interesting man. I only believe people like Arsene merit respect and deserve my interest..people who believe with a pure passion..who dont mind being killed, prosecuted all that etc..look back into the history of mankind and you will see the best part of goodness in it is due to people like that..people like these have given hope to others..they dont take the short cut (aka mourinho heh :P) just to suit their personal agendas..they put principles first even when its not needed that they do..they have kept together the fabric of whats “Right” ..a system of ideals and notions which are generally followed everywhere..they just simply do the right thing..come what may!

call me conspiracy theorist but i think the ref and the PL are being paid and the players are being given drugs and that explains the remarkable lack of injuries and quick recoveries.
