Arsenal’s Nine Years Of Failure.

I keep hearing this “nine years of failure” .

Now, lets for a moment forget that for many of us the last nine years has been a tremendous success. Perhaps Arsene’s greatest achievement. And run with the nine years shit.

Why nine years?

Why “nine years and only one real trophy”?

Why not one year and one trophy?

Or two years and only one trophy?

Well its simply because that particular snapshot suits the malcontent in their attempts to discredit Arsene.

It wouldn’t be as good if they said “2 trophies in 10 years“.

Or 3 in 11

Or 5 in 13 !

No, they want to pick a start date that suits their stupid notions , while ignoring the stadium move that coincidentally matches their chosen parameters.

For their 9 years , these halfwits demanded world class signings, despite it being obvious to all but the specially stupid, that Arsenal did not have the money to get them. However, now we have some money and world class talent is being bought they still refuse to accept that the wheel has turned.

The very first year Arsene was able to keep his players and add world class, we won a trophy. But no. they cling to the period of austerity while simultaneously refusing to accept its existence. Irony gone mad?

They point to an article in one newspaper that claimed Arsenals wages MIGHT exceed that of Chelsea’s as evidence that we should be on a par with them. Yet when you look at it, just about every player in every position at Chelsea is on far higher wages than his counterpart at Arsenal.(including the manager) so how the hell can our wages be greater than theirs? Its beyond stupidity to think that. Sadly though, these people are all beyond stupid, and accept it gladly.

Another thing that they are happy to ignore is that the squads of Chelsea, City and United cost around twice that of Arsenals. Twice. Did you hear me? I said twice. Yet were are supposed to be on a par because for 2 years we have been able to buy one world class player . They are also happy to ignore that in these last two years they have been buying more than one world class player per year.

In short these “realists”, as they like to call themselves, not only do they completely ignore reality, but they move the goalposts every single time their stupidity is exposed. The goalposts are moving with such pace at the moment that Theo couldn’t keep up with them.

Now the parameters have narrowed to “he hasn’t beaten Jose“. How narrow will they become before these tools shut up and get on with supporting?

NINE YEAR OF FAILURE ??? DO ME A FAVOUR.

  1. its odd that no press call was done for the FA Cup game on Sunday, the video put up as press conference for the game on Arsenal.com is a 4 minute bit done with the media at end of the after game press conference at the Southampton game.

so no real news of who is in or out, other than Szczesny will be left out of the squad, Flamini has slight chance of being back, Ozil back in training but very small chance he will be involved on Sunday. No one else expected back. Decision not made as to Walcott starting or not. Wenger said its likely that the squad will be likely the 18 v southampton bar ospina in for Szczesny

  2. Its a weeks rest until the home fixture vs Stoke so I dont think there will be huge amounts of rotation.

  4. Long story short I was promised the loan of three season tickets for the match and so bought a ticket for myself so that I could take my family. The promised tickets didn’t come through so I will be going on my own – so if anyone wants to meet up before the game it would be great to make contact.

  6. I’ll miss Plodders.
alongside the no-show against Southamptonin the league cup his game in the cup final wasn’t his best either, but there was a key dummy he made on the Cazorla free kick which helped wrong foot the ‘keeper, so I’ll always be grateful to him for that input.

For all the flaws in his game which were apparent before he signed (he’d lost his starting berth to Schurle at that time with Germany), it was the injuries that did for him in the end. By his own admission that big rip in his leg was the worst injury of his career and kept him on the sidelines for most of a season, then when he had the opportunity to play at CF and to try and give himself a chance of adapting to play there (he was poor against the saints but you have to consider he was ‘cold’ for that game), minor niggles as he reovered from the tear denied that opportunity – the reason wy he didnt earn Lowe’s trust is that he simply didnt get hte minutes there: last September even Ozil played at CF, twice, for Germany when others were out. Not saying he’d have taken Klose’s role during the WC, but he didn’t even have the chance to try which was unfortunate. He has been a little unlucky.

    I wish him well.

  7. The last time he played for us Poldi let fly a rocket past the Gala keeper that got us beautifully on our way in Istanbul, and sealed the evening with a final minute side foot to dismiss the beaten Turkish side.

I shall enjoy those moments as well as the other stunning strikes he made over his short time with us, and as you say Fins, the injuries have limited his chances.

Great character though, much too old to be sitting on a bench waiting for the odd opportunity to come up. I hope he does brilliantly with Inter.

  11. I have seen rumors for some time that podolski was not a good guy to get an autograph from, that he would be very ignorant or offhand with anyone who asked. Have seen these rumors for a year now.

  13. thats not the point I’m making anicoll, its more to do with how fans can have the wrong perception of a player, just cos he is a twitter guy and posts his love for AFC don’t actually mean its true, Wenger implied as much only last week

here is a quote about pod by bertie vogts that might reveal more as to why pod did not make it here

  15. And to describe Berti Vogts as “the German coach” is stretching reality a bit.
Last time Berti coached in Germany was 2001 before being sacked by Leverkeusen

Since then Herr Vogts has managed in Kuwait, Nigeria Scotland and from 2008 to 2014 in Azerbaijan

How is Berti so expert on Podolski at Cologne in 2012 exactly or at all ? The player did not turn professional til 2003.

  18. Neither Flamini nor Ozil took part in training today, so unlikely either will be in the squad tomorrow, those that took part in training today Ospina, Martinez, Bellerin, Mertesacker, Chambers, Monreal, Coquelin, Campbell, Rosicky, Cazorla, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Alexis, Koscielny, Debuchy, Gibbs, Walcott, Akpom, Maitland-Niles, Zelalem, Crowley, Kamara, Gnabry.

  20. just had a good laugh at some of the moaners, for some reason an article in the Sun from over two years ago, with Tom Fox, has a number of them up in arms and having a go at all things Arsenal. Never mind the facts that its the Sun, its over two years old, and Tom Fox left Arsenal for Aston Villa last summer.
My God the whingers will use anything to try and have a moan. I even some today say that Wenger in recent days categorically said that Podolski would not leave AFC, when the truth is that Wenger said that when it comes to transfers you can never state anything categorically. The idiots then have the gall to actually claim by Pod leaving its Wenger who is lying. What clowns.

  21. ed, you missed giroud who also trained today although i understand why you left him out. of that 22 I wonder whiich 5 will be left out, rested or not given their oppertunity depending how you see it. Once again there are some good youngsters there but not knowing what side hull will put out makes selecting the side a bit of a gamble.Akpom, Maitland-Niles, Zelalem, Crowley are the lads that excite, so I hope a few of those are on show in some capacity.

  22. can’t see Gnabry being involved, more likely he will make his comeback in the U21 game on Monday. crowley has not been named in a first team squad yet so he might be the next most likely to miss out. zelalem and Kamara probably won’t be included either unless one of the senior pros is to be rested completely from the squad tomorrow.

  23. 7 defenders there, 4 play max of two on the bench so one senior squad defender will be rested. youre right on serge he is not ready yet so thats 20 players left and 18 players so most of the youngsters will be involved in the squad. Chambers, le coq, Maitland-Niles and Kamara and even the Ox can play holding roles so there may be a bit of an overload there. Although I would like to see a cameo from Dan i think it will probably be him and Glen who misses out.

  24. The haste of podolski’s departure is a bit of a concern. We weren’t fighting to keep him.

Reports that West Ham have bought a Canadian CB may mean they have resigned to loosing Reid, but I doubt it.

  28. It has not been 9 years of failure. This sums up the issue I’ve had with the WOB for the last 5 to 6 years. Ignorance. Before committing to build the Emirates Arsenal would have needed a strategy to compete on the pitch and try to remain in the top 5. Arsenal had this and executed it. Of course it meant relying on youth such as Bendtner, Denilson, Fabregas, Nasri , etc etc.

Building and paying for the Emirates was/is a long term game. We are still paying for it. So to start moaning 5/6 years ago was just ignorant. This is why I have no patience with these people now. They were and are like Chief Vitalstatistix (literary reference) thinking that “the sky will fall on our heads”. It hasn’t.

We are now in the process of altering our strategy (Ozil, Sanchez) because we can afford to do so now. We’ll continue with that. There are always ups and downs it is how you deal with them and some of our support can’t deal with the setbacks.
