If you believe as I do that it is the intention of Arsene and the club to improve the first choice eleven then I suggest that is no easy job.
If any purchases have to be of a standard that displaces one of our current best eleven, then the pool of players that are available is quite small. Those players have to be of exceptional quality AND be for sale.
If we have learned anything from recent seasons it is that it’s incredibly difficult and expensive to prise a player from a reluctant seller. Cesc, Judas and Nasri all took an age before we finally ceded.
As far as I am aware, we know that a bid has been made for Suarez. Even then we only know because Liverpool chose to go public. Like it or not – and I do – Arsenal conduct their business in total secrecy.
We know nothing of bids or targets. Our “knowledge” is based purely on hearsay, ITK’s, Sky Sports News, TalkShite and the word of third-rate hacks.
In reality, we can not be said to have missed a target unless we aimed for it in the first place.
I think Marouane Fellaini has a release clause of £25 million, or there about. Now if he was seen as a priority I am sure we could have offered Everton that fee and met his wage demands. If we haven’t, it’s either because we don’t want him, or another reason that we know nothing about.
Perhaps he wants to go to United? Or maybe we are looking at a better player. We just don’t know, do we?
I accept that there are many players who would improve the squad. But is that really what we are all hoping for ?
The melt down on twitter and blogs is quite frankly pathetic.
You might well think we had no good players at the club. We have players of the quality of Jack, AOC and Podolski who can not always command a First Team start. For new players to improve our first team they not only have to be better than those three, but better than the first team incumbents keeping them out.
The simple reality is we have no choice but wait and trust the club. What else can we do? Bin bags on seats? Stickers on statues? Stay away from the ground for the Emerates Cup? Boo and chant some childish drivel about spending f***ing money?
We will get who we get when – and if – the club do the deals.
Patience is not an option. It’s a necessity.

Spending recklessly is the only purpose in running a football club, didn’t you know that Hunter? that is the English way, according to the experts.
Fans just want instant success, no sense of History, Tradition or Class. They want us to be just like Chelski.
When Real & Barca do it – it’s not criminal, it’s just their ‘culture’. They don’t see that every other club in La Liga is permanently screwed into the ground in a state of serfdom. Its just the Old Firm in the sun.
The Board are playing a fine balancing act between two billionaires.

Their mind-set was already pre-programmed with the negative sound-bites that they can’t think their own thoughts.
No Trophies, 8 years…., senile Wenger, Won’t spend .. yadda yadda.
I tried it too, challenging if people really wanted their ‘old Arsenal’ back, like from 72-96 would they be happy with just the crappy results we normally had, and just the once in a decade glimpse of glory.
Funnily enough, I was told IT WAS ME that was living in the past by wanting to stick with our greatest ever manager.(With all due humble respect to Herbert Chapman).
What would have happened to AFC without him? – Newcastle, Sunderland, Villa, Forest & Leeds are good examples of clubs that consider themselves big and have who’s fans have an exaggerated sense of entitlement.
I could mention the micky-mousers and spuds, but you know..

Lets put our cards on the table yes. Now i remember when i was a kid that ttottenham was playing with fucking klinsmann right, while we had that golden tooth ghetto superstar who fucked off to benfica cause he couldnt stand eating brocolli. I also remember that 99% of the times i was wathing us play from television…i would fall asleep and not exactly be mesmerised by the mercurial talents of keown adams dixon and winterburn. Back then yeah, we can all agree that while Milan was with Van Basten and other small time players like Baresi, we were a 2nd or even 3rd tier club….in no way would our club or our players ever be mentioned in the same sentence as the koemans and maradonas and stoichkovs in barcelona yeah…. so this perception that arsenal was always a big club is bollocks. big for who? islington? london? england? europe? the world? Big clubs, the traditional big clubs, have had a history of being at the top or a history of dominance domestic AND abroad. Big clubs have left their print in world football atr some point in their history. What has Arsenal left printed in the memmories of football WORLDWIDE, if not the wenger era? 17 years ago you can bet your house no club from holland or germany or anywhere else would ever take a peak to see how arsenal do things. 17 years ago no club from holland would pay the expences for its whole team to go watch arsenal play against barcelona in camp nou.
our manager and his stuff specialise, i repeat, SPECIALISE, in the development of raw talent into world class standard footballers. They are engineers chemists programmers you name it. They know their fucking field and have turned it from simple occupation into a whole fucking science. Wenger and his crew have developed players that england has never and will never produce. wenger works with people form all over the world. his stuff includes bosnians, english, americans, french. These people know what theyre doing, so its a bit rich to hear the ‘sons’ of mclaren and rednapp tell them what to do or how to do it. moreso for the media and some of our fans who dont even posses 0.000000000000000000000001% of their knowledge and experience. wenger was clearly trying to get his young players to gain experience as early as possible so that what a footballer normally learns at 27-28 ( peak years), his get it at 25-26…thus gaining years out of their careers…thus when they are 25 they already know what the average 28yold knows and where the 28y.o will start dropping from 30 onwards, the 25th year old has still 5 years left before the one year contract extentions.
next is the step by step process that ARSENAL ( the club) CHOSE to solidify itslef and announce itself to the BIG stage. This club was never rich or famous or powerful or influential enough. Our owners would never sit in the same lounges as the berlusconis gaspars annielis, morattis and beckenbauers of this world. Our club always had a low profile. Even manchester united was far more glamorous than arsenal and much more popular albeit due to their traggic accident. but they did win it didnt they? liverpool has won 5…..5 i say! arsenal? lol….nada. The closest we have come as a football club is via WENGERS mehtods/teachings/influence. so in my mind two things are happening. Either the owners of arsenal have no clue how to place arsenal among the elite and they might as well listen to their manager who knows more than them OR the owners are muppets for they keep asking for the title and their employee fails them and they still pay him 7m a year. Somne of our fans are so “clever” they need to ask IF wenger achieves the target set by the board. these shitheads have the audacity to think of themslevs as capable enought o discuss arsenal and they cant figure out whether the manager hits the boards targets?
ok lets take a wild guess then….what would your target be had you just borrowed and invested 450million on a stadium? obviously the new testarosa yeah….and a villa in malibu..of course. thats what every reasonable person woudl go for. Only we are owned and managed by ludicrous people who decided to keep expenditure at an absolute minimum and go for the biggest profits possible. And i ask, what is more possible for a club that has built a stadium and operates on maximum 15m budget per summer and competes in the epl ? the title or the money made out of getting top4 and thus the 30m jackpot? is it not a success that wenger was getting into top4 with a bunch of kids who couldnt even shave yet and that we would only miss on the titles by players much bigger, more experienced and more expensive? why did the arsenal fan, this humble knowledgable being, turn against his team ? because we couldnt beat drogba and united? is that it? what would be alarming is if we were light years away …but no even in our most restricted set up we came second third of fourth to the clubs that operated on 5 and 6 times our budget. is that not something to be proud of? we got to the source/fountain a few times and failed to drink the water but we fucking got there….others dont even get close..and they spend more than us.
dein wants back…dein has to much an ego to accept to be thrown out/kicked out like pete did to him. dein has a vehicle to get back and he also plays with the tormented fans emotions. but i dont think he is against wenger. i think he understands that the pressure he has applied on hillwood and the board has backfired to an extent and that the crossfire is hitting the manager and the team but now its too late…now the fan is so confused that they boo at preseason games and why do they boo? because we dont spend 50 million on a player or 35 on higuain or 68 on defenders and midfielders……..as if wenger is some idiot who dont know how to develop players and needs the world bank to build teams….as if we are a bunch of noveu-riche peasants all of a sudden who wont tolerate anything less than a mercedes. now wenger has even amy telling him that he needs to buy players or else…..amy ffs……amy….who????????????????????????
ah man….. the arsenal fans huh……….. i give up ..whoever talks shit about wneger or arsenal or our players agian i will thoroughly abuse him/her and if it happens in the ground i will kick up a fuss. enough is enough..respect the people who have done great things for the club…opinions are like arseholes and most of them stink….i have opinions too but not on whether wenger has lost it or not….we are too small to judge wenger and what he has done for us…and the blogs…fuck them too…youd expect the arsenal supporting blogs to gather support around the team …all they do is divide the public…

Who’s to say that he would have the skills or the desire to deal in the new world of the big money deals?

I can’t see Dortmund turing into a club that makes £40,000,002 bids (€46.2m), AM might but they are not as good a bet as Arsenal for League or UCL wins.

Hello DC
its only 9pm here in west coast. Following the developments breathlessly. Brandon is only the latest of up and coming managers that I used to like and respect. Oh well. He had to go and shoot his classless mouth about ARSENAL AND ARSENE. AW has been a model gentleman throughout. To be honest I hate to think where Pool is going to end up without Luis. He has been carrying them the past few years single handedly. At this point we should hope and pray that neither Real nor chelski raise their stinking head out and outbid us on this player. Like I have always said he has exceptional talent and a superior winning attitude. I just hope AW can eliminate the diving and the impetuousness out of him and get that energy channeled positively. That done he will become a force to reckon with for the next five to six years. It is an incredible price to pay at 40mill plus but if managed well he well pay for himself in no time.
I read you guys discussing dein and his f••••king son earlier. He used to be fantastic for the club and letting him go cost us a lot of hard times and good few players as the father and son tag team truly intended to cause the organization irreparable damage in an effort to get back into the board room. That said , I don’t think the board had any other choice bit to fire David. His vision for the club was diametrically different than the boards and AW. HE HAD TO GO. and shouldn’t be allowed back since most of the damage he could do ,he has done.
I’m just a little surprised AW still feels a friendship with this man who was the major cause of many difficult rebuilding seasons for the club through the work of his son. I bet if the father had still been with the organization we would not have had as many players exiting the club as they have.

In truth my eyes glazed over when it came to looking at the graphs, I cannot be arsed. My eyes tell me more then any stats (heh!) and I’ve seen enough of the stadium build and surrounding stuff to put two and two together*. But AW wasn’t the happiest during that awful Summer (not last year). However I’m not sure the lawyers will leave any juicy bits in the memoirs.
If anyone is desperate to know what they want to know then the only hope will be to to get AW rat-arsed after his retirement in the hope that he might let something slip on the boardroom antics at The Arsenal.
*As Tottenham is bulldozed to make way for Sainsbury Village (still no announcement on stadium, thought the site has been cleared) I take pride in the knowledge that the Arsenal tower won’t get built. So Gervinho is officially gone now. A bit sad to see him. He certainly had the ability, but his unpredictability made him a very frustrating player to watch. Wasn’t helped by the fact that half the stadium was usually on his back, no matter what he did. In general, he seemed to play better for Ivory Coast than for us and I can’t begrudge him that because the Ivorians supported him all the way while we can’t say the same about our fans… Wish him all the best with Roma and I hope for him that he finds consistency to add to his already amazing dribble skills.

All I know is that it’s oft alleged, mostly by the Dein camp that he and Arsene are old buddies. That does seem to be the case and Dein did entice AW to the Arsenal.
Dein might say that his only ‘crime’ was to try to get more money for the football team whist the rest of the board were more focussed on getting the massive risk of the stadium out of the ground & sorted with the planners, locals, contractors etc. and properly financed.
Since he left the boardroom, I don’t think his antics have enobled him to any but the bread and circus masses. I have not read much about him wanting a way back into the club’s top echelons. However Stan or Jabba the Huttcould always nominate him as one of their subordinates.
This bullcrap that Arsene Wenger now needs a director of football at Arsenal, is just that – bullcrap. Surely someone is Jo Kin ‘ere!
