Saturday the 19th of September sees the Mighty Canon (1st) move its artillery down to the south coast, as we take on Brighton and Hove Albion (5th) in the of our next autumn away days at the American Express Community Stadium. KO is 3pm (local time) and the expected weather is: 19° feels like 17° with force 5 winds.
Having beaten Ipswich in the C cup, we now take on a tough opponent. A side very much not to be underestimated, as Manchester united and Coventry found at their cost, they can be ruthless in front of goal when they choose. Fabian Hurzeler’s men are currently W2D1L1.
I hope we don’t go down there with too much hubris, as where there’s hubris there is nemesis…sure and steadfast, fire and skills boys..
Big Willie, Messrs White and Mosquera are out and not about for the Gun, Timer! is doubtful but who knows, I think we might see him for the showdown.
Hadjam took a knock against MU so he’s looking doubtful for the Gulls but Ferdi Kadioglu is likely to return. Azeez, Svoboda, Ferguson, Yohanna, Wieffer, Hinshelwood, Mitoma, Minteh, Tzimas are looking unlikely lads.
Statto HQ having returned from the cultural delights of Eastern Europe were now back at HQ, examining magazines showing the array and availability of new combine harvesters. Angrily they looked up and gave me the stats. The Southern Seagulls have a 20.5% of winning and Arsenal FC have a 55.2%.
Next up the infamous international break (21st-6th) where our plays get crocked for four months much to the delight of the hacks.
After that we host the irrepressible Leeds Utd for luncheon at the Emirates on the of 10th of October. May your force be with you. COYG!

White and Madueke did not get England call ups this time around but Konsa, Lewis-Skelly, Rice, Saka, and Eze are all included for the forthcoming 3 week 4 game International break.
Kai Havertz has been included in one of 2 Germany squads, it seem they will use each squad for 2 games only.
Raya, Zubimendi and Merino called up by Spain.

Thanks Mills, and spot on the warning about hubris. ‘Isn’t it all going so well’ is a common beginning to most tragedies. Macbeth would be seen as a brilliant bloke if merely judged on his Act One results. (Could you also drop me an email as not sure I have your correct details).

There are reports that Arsenal are considering a massive upgrade of the training facilities at London Colney. The new development could bring together the player performance centre, medical and rehabilitation facilities, changing rooms, offices, restaurants and media facilities under one roof.
Its mooted that if this development gets the go ahead it would be for the mens teams including youths, and so in turn the Arsenal Women would get exclusive use of the current facilities once the new scheme is complete, which would be massive for the Womens teams.

with the injury problems White, Timber and Mosquera have Arsenal should sign Seamus Coleman on a one year contract, he is a free agent and has been a top pro so even at 37 years of age he would be worth having as an experienced back up.

Morning everyone and great again Mills,
So we travel down to the coast to what is expected to be our hardest game of the season so far.
The Albion are the league’s top scorers and also boast the most turnovers from a high press.
Our passing from the back and Raya’s distribution will be important today, get that right and it will nullify one of their greatest threats.
Hove like possession and usually dominate games but they may play differently today either intentionally or through necessity.
Old pappa gross has been playing well this season but he hasn’t come up against our midfield yet and you would only expect he won’t have the legs to control this one.
The media and pundits have this game down as a draw or even a brighton win because of their good start, but although they always give us a hard game we always seem to come away with the three points. We need to again today as gone are the days when you could draw most away games and still win the league.
Again our squad looks terrifying and while we can change and make our eleven better during the game most teams simply try and maintain the status quo. This once more could be the difference.
Our famous red and white always looks good against the stripes and we should shine again today COYG.

what a week for Arsenal goalie Charlie Phillips, he trained with the first team, then travelled with the squad for the CC game, then called up to the England U17’s, and today on his 16th birthday he makes his debut for our U18’s and has a great game in a 5-1 win away to Norwich.

Hes going to need to plan his subs carefully, score in the first five and we’ve potentially got this otherwise…its up Burgess hill till the end. We went in this one too cocky…but there is still time, as long as we dont panic and get frustrated, just keep going…COYG!

well to sum up that performance
our defending was woeful, our midfield was inept, and our attack was sterile, but apart from that what have the romans ever done for us.
The one great breakaway we had when 1-0 down was butchered by Odegaard, there was a pass on to put Saka in one on one with the keeper, and either Odegaard didn’t see it or worse still, did see it but knew he wasn’t good enough to play the pass. A Bergkamp or Ozil would have laid it on a plate for Saka with their eyes closed.

more dropped points by the Arsenal women, a late Holmberg goal salvages a draw at home to Man Utd women, that is 1 win and 2 draws from first 3 games. It has been a recurring theme by our Womens team to drop points early in the season in recent years meaning they are always fighting a losing cause in the title race. That was utd’s first point of the season. We dropped points v newly promoted crystal palace last week.

if Fulham don’t lose to man utd tomorrow Spurs will go bottom of the table. and if man city lose by 3 or more goals at home to Sunderland then Arsenal will be top.
