Good morning all.
This is going to be a difficult write for me, because it could become a simple rolling out of cliches, and we don’t want that on here, do we now?
It wasn’t the most free flowing football we have seen, in fact we were forced to watch the type of football that some of us Wengerites detest. It was physicality over skill , hard graft over creativity and basically blood and thunder football. However, lets be clear, it was all of those things because that’s exactly what Sunderland made it and we had to respond in kind. Well we did just that, we matched them at that malarkey and won the game trough two or three moments of individual brilliance, bought and paid for with north of £billion.
There was a penalty save from a goalkeeper that we bough to replace two previously bought big money signings. And that save, together with a later double save, justified that purchase. David Raya might just be the best keeper this club has had, he is certainly the finest distributor of the ball in our history.
Then about two minutes later , our new £80m theft of the Newcastle captain, paid an almost immediate dividend. It was a world class finish by any standard, in direct contrast to what had gone before.
There isn’t a team that can physically intimidate us, in any ground, in any country in the world. Maybe a couple of teams can still out football us on a given day, but even that is becoming debatable.
We have now won nine PL games in a row, for the first time in 22 years and still going.
I believe City are our only domestic challengers, and the way we dismissed them last month, and watching them so far, leads me to think they too will be left in our wake as the season progresses.
Like our style of football or not, this team/squad is magnificent.
Most encouraging of all to me is that when we have the inevitable losses and draws, there is a character about this squad, and our manager, that will bounce back.
I’m convinced that we will win the title this season, and the next one as well. I feel the twilight of my football watching life is in good hands.
Enjoy it people, I would say “while it lasts” but that could easily be for quite some time.
Pedantic George.
We truly do have a magnificent squad, and however tight or heavy games become we always seem to have the answer waiting to be introduced.
Unfortunately city never start the season well and so the fact they have struggled in games and still have twelve points is a worry.
Our last two games were massive, not the sort of games you want at the start of the season but we came through them with flying colours.
After the highs of yesterday, today was a bit of a crap. city winning controversially with ten men, Coventry losing to keep the spuds out of the bottom three and the ARSENAL ladies drawing when they should have won easily. Draws at the start of the season stopped them winning the league last year so this will hurt.

its funny how Frank Lampard’s Coventry City are back to being just plain old Coventry City.
that was some corrupt performance from the officials at old trafford today, but unlike normally it was against utd today. Add in that horror show form the officials in our game yesterday and its not good for the reputation of the game. But then 115 charges against city being delayed longer than the release of the epstein files sort of sets the trends anyway.

wonder how much rotation will we see in the league cup game away to Ipswich on Tuesday. will Timber be thrown back in as a starter after playing 45 yesterday, a big risk to take. White looks to be out injured. We could do with Mosquera back. We can do lots of rotation in midfield and attack. I wonder will our recent signing from Man Utd, James Scanlon get in the squad after his two goals in two games for the U21’s.

our Womens team fecked up big time today, a 0-0 at home to newly promoted Crystal Palace, missed a hatful of chances to score, especially in the first half. For the last few seasons we have ruined our title chances by dropping points early in the season and dropping points in games we should have easily won. Lets hope this is not the same old failings happening again.
