The Start Is Just The Ticket.

Good morning one and all.

Well that was exactly what the doctor ordered.

Over the summer I’ve been avoiding any transfer speculation, I’m happy enough to just keep up with who has actually come and gone. So by having a rest from Arsenal I came to last night eager and excited. The Community Shield performance had wet my whistle and I was raring to go, hopes high, feeling more invested than I have for years. I have to say that I was not dissapointed.

I had harboured hope that having trudged over the winning line in May that Mikel would play a style of football that was watchable without my eyes bleeding, that has happened and so far, so good. Will it last past our first reversal? who knows, but the signs are good.

Occasionally a player pops up that I have an immediate affinity to, well Tzolis is one of them, he reminds me of my second favourite Arsenal player, Arshavin. I can’t tell you how happy that makes me, I just want the ball fed to him at every half chance. I understand it’s early days and a tiny sample, but WOW, I’m stoked.

Haverts looks bigger, stronger, faster and fitter and finally looks worth the fee.

MLS is a revelation in midfield and brings an assured attacking intent that we have been missing since Xhaka left. I know they are very different players and even different positions, but the drive and intent are, at least for me, the same.

My only disappointment was that Noni came on when I was hoping for Ethan, but still.

I hope you all enjoyed the game as much as me and that we can finally become POSITIVELY Arsenal again. It’s been a while.

See you soon and love you all. Peace out.

Pedantic George.

  2. Ian-amazing, must have been a great moment at Sun. Youve seen some top sites for sure.

  3. Mills, I think it’s a set of places everyone should go. For the music lover there are so many great places all relatively close to each other.

To go to studios where so many great musicians have been is amazing, Elvis and his fab four in one and Booker T and the whole Stax crowd in another.

The Blues trail is amazing as well.

  4. Isn’t it amazing that only us and villa have been drawn away and that was determined in a “pre-draw”. If you need an extra draw at all why wouldn’t half the Euro teams be home and half away. Seems all kinds of wrong to me.

  5. Ed, your right about this one or other thing with our targets. It still looks like we are working on several deals to be honest.

  6. I can imagine the blues trail is especially moving, especially in the summer.

I can imagine the feeling in the studios was overwhemling, all that history in those rooms. Must have been many dreams coming true, all those thousands of listens at home and out and about and then suddenly there in front of you where it all happened. Brilliant.Memories to really savour.

  7. reports in France that Marseille are eyeing a move for Arsenal new boy Illan Meslier, would be an odd transfer, unless of course we only signed him cos we thought Kepa was leaving and now it looks like he will stay

  8. Reiss Nelson has been released by the club after coming to a mutual agreement to terminate his contract, it had a one year plus a one year option left on it. Arsenal had wanted £3M for him, but despite several clubs being keen on him none of them would match our asking price due to Nelson’s injury problems.

He is the last member of Arsene Wenger’s last first team squad to leave the club.

Saka now becomes our longest serving player

Gabriel Martinelli left training half way through as its expected he was only there to say his goodbyes as he is set to sign for Al hilal

  15. The Rashford links have come and gone for a few seasons. To be honest I think he’s a great player and could add something.

The Endrick links are again positive as he is a good player and there’s something about the Alvarez situation that makes me uncomfortable. It is clear he doesn’t want to come back to the PL and ARSENAL world be something of a Hobson’s choice.

  16. Between now and playing the spuds on the 5th of December, we play twelve away games, which is going to be difficult.

Fortunately we don’t travel outside of London the whole of December so maybe we can get our breath back as ease some legs.

So far the draws don’t seem to have been particularly kind to us. I suppose the powers that be don’t want us to do well this season.

Arsenal have also confirmed the signing of James Scanlon from Man UTd, a two year deal with a one year option. The 19 year old has 24 caps and 5 goals for Gibraltar, he turns 20 next month. He had a loan spell at Swindon last season.

  18. Ian at this point I think most fans would be happier to see Rashford signed than no one at all. There are rumors that Arsenal only want him on a loan deal, and that he only wants a permanent deal.

We are now being linked with Brentford’s Kevin Schade, a smooth operator, ha ha ha

another linked is Crystal Palace’s Ismaila Sarr

If Martinelli goes, as seems very likely we really need to bring in a replacement

  21. confirmed Habeeb Ogunneye(20) signed from Man Utd and Axel Donczew(16) signed from Cardiff, he will sign a pro deal when he turns 17 next February.

Ogunneye is a right back and Donczew is an attacking midfielder who can play on the wing too.

Ogunneye played 21 times for Newport County on loan last season. Donczew was Cardiff’s youngest ever first team player when he played in the EFL Trophy aged 15

with Reiss Nelson given a free transfer that seems to have cleared all the players we wanted to move on leaving the club this window.

But it means we are currently short in numbers and I would say quality in attacking areas, especially left wing. Trossard, Martinlli and Jesus all played left wing for us last season and we have brought in only Tzolis.

We have about 50 hours of the transfer window to get some signings done.

  25. just one thing on Trossard, Martinelli and Jesus leaving, between them last season they scored 25 goals and had 16 assists. That is a hell of a lot of goals and assists to replace.

I like what I’ve seen from Tzolis so far, but I doubt he’ll manage those sort of numbers, maybe he will and be player of the year, and bargain of the century
