Hello and how are you? Sunday 27th of September Newcastle Untied host the Mighty Cannon at St. James Park. Kick of is at 17.30pm central Europa time (16.30pm UK time). Expected weather is 15° C with sun and some cloud.
Another massive game for the Gunners, as we make the long trip up to Newcastle. A must win game for us (and them) if we are going to catch up on Liverpool, who slipped against Palace. Obviously Isak has gone so that’s a bonus, Gordon is back from suspension so that (potentially) isn’t. Mr Howe tells us Botman is fine, a a plus for them again?
Newcastle beat Bradford ( 4-1) in the League Cup on Wednesday, which may have given them a bit more confidence after the 0-0 draw with Bournemouth and the home loss to Barca in the CL. They are currently resting in 15th in the PL.
Wissa won’t be playing and still hasn’t made a start yet for Newcastle, both Ramsey(ankle) and Schar (post concussion procedure) will also be missing.
Newcastle are (so far this season) : W1 D3 L1 F 3 A 3. So perhaps a slightly slower start for the Geordies than many might have predicted after last seasons form?
Historically its: 63 games, NUFC W 16, AFC W 40 and D 11. Total goals NUFC 45 AFC 107.
I met up with Statto HQ on the corner to pick up some info, and they whispered to me that Newcastle are tipped for a 27% chance of winning and the Arsenal 44.7%. So COYG!

Now then, Palace beating Liverpool has sure changed the mood in our red camp. Nut more than the dropping of the 3 points was that they were comprehensively outplayed. They have been getting away with murder all season, the pundits claimed great teams “find a way” and God help us when they hit their straps. Well yesterday they got what they deserved and their straps are still not anywhere to be found.
Of course unless we dispatch Newcastle today, that will mean very little to us. We simply must take full advantage of their first slip. The barcodes have not been playing well and we have to go there , play positively and make it clear to everyone that we are ready to not just challenge for the title, but win it. We have a stronger, deeper squad than Liverpool so let us take the fight to them, not crawl into our shells and wait for them to lose.
The 3 point are essential, but so is making a statement to the rest of the league, doubting Thomad pundits and crucially, our fans.
Massive game this, huge test and we must show everyone that we are the team to beat.
And for that love of God, entertain me.
Pedantic George.
Please no defensive midfield selection again a draw isn’t the target.

The magpies have not been finding the net, but they have been creating plenty and defensively they ate excellent.
Recent history has been against us, sometimes controversially, but sometimes we have been totally outplayed.
We need to be at our very best to get three points today and unfortunately I can’t see Mikel going at this one all guns blazing.
The games are normally attritional up in the north so this one we are going to have to work hard at.
Saka, Mosquera, Eze in, Merino, Saliba and the injured Noni out. Which means Trossard keeps his place.
Never before have we had this many injuries and still put out such a quality squad, but today we need the win COYG.

The penalty was another ARSENAL decision, absolutely crazy. The getting a touch on the ball was changed decades ago, it has no bearing in today’s game.
The biggest problem with the ref is the amount he is letting go for them and the amount he is pulling us up.
That makes it almost impossible to create continued pressure and gives their defence a breather and liscence to foul.
Can’t see us winning from here and we are going to work hard for the draw.

F@ck PGMOL.
They tried hard today. @ Ian, totally correct another ‘Arsenal’ decision you probably never see happen to anyone else ever.

One fantastic free kick away from sitting top of the table, after one of the hardest opening set of fixtures anyone’s ever been given.
We are still finding it difficult to score from open play when teams sit back but hopefully that will come as the new players gel.
PIGMOL still against us but today showed us we can beat even them.
There is a little worry that as soon as we scored Mikel put on MLS, but let’s just think it was because in such a big game, at such a big moment, he trusted experience rather than attacking flair and stability to help the attacking players rather than playing it safe and going for the draw.
The squad has been excellent so far this seaon, so long may it continue. If we can get our injuries down the options Mikel has at his disposal will be fantastic.
The other big plus today was Gyokeres, his work rate, winning the ball and hold up play (even while wearing newcastle players like scarf’s round his neck) was excellent and something we have been missing for the whole of Mikels tenure. Apparently stats show he has the best press record in the division as well.

I Like Gyokeres today, his link up was a lot better today than previously and his work rate is excellent.
I like the options we have up front when everyone is fit. I think Jesus works just as hard with the press and both he and Havertz have great link up with the rest of the team.
Hope we can get them back soon

watch the media fall over themselves trying to make excuses for PGMOL. Pope did get a slight touch that has to be slowed down to freeze frame but he also took out the man who arguably would have reached the ball if not taken out. You have to go to super slow mo to see nick popes touch so it was not a clear and obvious error and did not need intervention from Var. The fact is VAR went looking for an excuse not to give the penalty and found one in super duper slow mo.
How can a Liverpool supporter ref games against thier rivals?
If this is true then for me the stench of corruption is unbearable.
Can anyone confirm if there is any truth to this?

I thought Gyokeres played well and the best we’ve seen from him so far. He’s going through a barren scoring period, but this can happen to strikers, so hope that its only temporary. At the moment things aren’t quite falling for him and he’s lacking the confidence to grab the half chances that do come his way.

that ref is not allowed ref liverpool games cos he supports them, he is by the way not allowed ref Everton games cos they are LFC rivals, but he is allowed ref Arsenal games cos they are only rivals to liverpool in a title race. Makes complete sense to the PGMOL

Gyokeres had a fine game yesterday, what a pity the penalty was not allowed to stand, as he would surely have taken the spot kick.
By the way, despite all the pulling and dragging and grabbing of him by the head, that Newcastle players did to him, he was not awarded a single freekick, other than the overturned spot kick.

Thanks for confirming Ed.
A few questions worth asking that certainly the media will not do.
People are too willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and not put them on the spot over their decision making as a individuals or a group PGMOL.
Doubt in them and so called conspiracy theories exist because of a lack of clarity and a refusal to engage openly with the wider audience.
Again it all stinks

And add to that why are they the only ref body world wide that struggles weekly using VAR?
