Dead Rubber vs Palace?

Hello and how are you?

Wednesday 23rd of April sees the Mighty Cannon host our south London neighbours, Crystal Palace at the Emirates, kick off 8.00pm western European time.

Despite our minds wandering in the caves and cervices of speculation re the PSG game next week, tonight we do battle with CP. In three days time they play their FAC semi-final against Villa so perhaps they too have their collective minds elsewhere?

Both sides must be utterly fearful of any kind of major injury to their players, and certainly its felt a bit angsty against the Tractor Boys, and  the ‘tackle’ on Saka had us all holding our breath.

I obviously understand banter but the whole ‘same old Arsenal, always cheating’ bullshit seems utterly illogical, banter can’t really work unless its logical and succinct? Saka gets nobbled and is accused of cheating. Grrr! Anyway we won’t be seeing them next season and despite the hideous looking tackle it, wasn’t too bad a day out, really we could have scored many more goals than we did?

I can’t see Tottenham holding off Liverpool at the weekend, so the title is probably theirs, but there’s much for us to fight for what with Forest and Newcastle also desperate for a better looking stat to finish of the season. There’s no need for us to wander off course like Crisp in the 1973 Grand National and despite the taunts of Brentford I hope we finish 2nd.

Statto HQ have given us a 67. 9% chance of winning whilst CP have only 12%.

See you in Paris!

Take care of yourselves, COYG!

  1. We normally have a good record knocking the Eagle out of the sky. They are having a particularly good season but actually we are better prepared for playing a league game before an important game than they are.Mikel says any player who is fit will play, he is dead against anything but small rotation as momentum and consistency is key. Most people would see that as a recipe for injury disaster but heh.I think tonight Partey will

  2. I think tonight Partey will return so apart from Saka, it will be a full strength side.Trossard was excellent at Ipswich so I would imagine he will be on the bench tonight. However the front four line up I can’t see them containing us and Mateta just won’t get the service to trouble us so I’m expecting another decent win COYG.

  23. Another pale performance and I think the end of the PL season can’t come soon enough.

Second place is now seriously in dought, comparing form and fixtures with those around us.

Saliba has made two big mistakes in three games apparently, but in reality anyone watching our season has seen him make more mistakes than any other defender but he just manages to get away with most. He made two similar in the away game at Real.

Ed is spot on about our Captain, pushed off the ball so easily for Palace’s equaliser, he lost the ball a hat full of times last night and has had a poor season. If he is not afforded space, although brilliant when he is, then he struggles.

Going forward we are not in that stale place we were when Saka first got injured and we can play so much better than last night but to end the successfully we are going to have to.

  24. lots of reports today that Arsenal are trying to sign Irish teenager Victor Ozhianvuna (16) on a pre contract deal from Shamrock Rovers, who believe he can be the next seven figure export from the League Of Ireland

Ozhianvuna who is mainly a midfielder but has also played wing back is not able to join an English club until Jan 2027 and there are some European clubs interested in him too. Another Shamrock Rovers youth, Michael Noonan who is part of their first team this season has been scouted by Arsenal and Man City, with city currently favorites to sign him.

  25. I think all the teams who could possibly get second this year will drop points in the last few games. So I believe two wins will secure runners up for the third successive season.

We have two home games, Bournemouth in between the two PSG games and Newcastle who have already beaten us at the Emirates this year.

The two away games are against Liverpool, champions elect and Southampton who have just changed their manager and at a ground where we have struggled in the past.

We obviously have the ability to win all four especially as the red side of Mersey will be drunk by the time we play them.

Each game under this season’s circumstances are potential banana skins as well.

Obviously winning the Champions League would condemn any failure in the league to be forever hidden.

But even a famous victory over PSG and a loss in the final will, as Arsene found out, will bring Mikel huge criticism.

This squad definitely has the ability to win and draw the games they need to, and bring silverware and a historic third second.

As fans to still feel nervous at this stage of the season is a privilege that many fans of clubs all around the footballing world cannot experience.

It is important for all of those fans and for ourselves that we try and enjoy the final six or seven games.

  35. Great wasn’t it? I thought we were a bit of a mess in the first leg, but the second was an incredible game. The commentator for the channel I was watching was so biased against Arsenal I had to switch of the sound.

Slegers has done a great job.

I was shocked how poor both Villa and Forest were though?

Im already feeling a bit nervous about Wednesday! You?
