Good day one and all.
This afternoon we march up to the midlands to take on struggling Wolves. As they say “There’s no easy games in the PL” but in reality, this is about as easy as an away game will get. It’s important that we try to keep our lingering hopes alive for the sake of all of us.
The problem, as I see it, is that many people are adopting the attitude that anything other than winning the league, or perhaps the Champion’s League, is a failure. Now we all want to win shinney things, but football has to be more than than that? I would be a hypocrite if that was now my veiw, simply because I wanted a stick to beat Mikel Arteta with. For several years I enjoyed the football, and more than that, I enjoyed it the most I have in my lifetime, when Arsene’s shoe string teams fought tooth and nail to simply qualify for the Champions League. I argued with others because I felt that it was unreasonable to demand we win, ignoring factors like spending, injuries and refereeing failures. Now I fully accept that the spending aspect is far less relevant now, but the others still equally apply.
Of course I always took solace in the fact that we played the most attacking and entertaining football, sadly that is far from the case now, but never the less, it’s our team, we support it, we love the club and surely there must be some joy to be had from watching every single player, manager and coach, pulling their tripe out, to win every single game. And I believe they all do just that.
We can be disappointed in how well we are doing given our spending, in players WE don’t think are quite good enough, our defensive and regimented tactics, or anything else, but come on, there is light if we step out of the shade.
Well that’s it, I’m not going to speculate on what the team will be, it will be whatever Mikel judges is best, right or wrong, but whoever plays, every last soldier will fight for us and the club.
Up the Arsenal.
Pedantic George.
thanks George – what a sane and positive article.

Unbelievable decision, over the years I’ve seen that challenge hundreds maybe thousands of times and never seen a red card for it, another first for ARSENAL what a surprise from our favourite referee. It is getting so predictable.

Generally we played well today although we still are poor in front of goal and the team instinctively refuses to opportunity to play forward. When your away from home and the other side are defending deep then quick decisive play is a must but we refuse to adopt that style.

still seething over that red card and the collective effort to move attention from the refs decision on the incident to focusing on the alleged abuse he is now getting because of said decision.
media, pgmol , premier league and FA are all in on the stench that seems to run throughout the British game . It is disgusting 🤢
every year the same sheet from the same people’s and then we get accused of being over sensitive and a loon when you start asking reasonable questions.

It looks like Ayden Heaven has signed for manure. There is no point in having an academy if you are going to lose talented players before they sign a professional contract.
It has always been the case that some young players would look elsewhere but it is becoming very regular at the moment.
The attitude of the manager has to have some bearing on the increase of young players who see their route to the first team better elsewhere.
Ayden and Obi Martin have gone to a club in crisis and who have outdated and poor facilities. Opportunity must be the only factor they are considering.

Obi Martin was offered double the money we were offering. £32k a week at 16

money is always an issue but you can offer less than others if you make the right case for progression and therefore a bigger contract in a couple of seasons.

Keiran has signed a pre- contract agreement with Celtic for the Summer. Celtic are apparently still trying to get a loan agreement for the rest of the season.

So Girona are apparently a good passing side and although haven’t got results have made all their CL games close affairs.
From most scouting reports their main problem is they can’t score so as long as we don’t give away a stupid goal we should win this game.
Third place is highly commendable out of 36 calibre teams but unfortunately it gives you little advantage. We could still end up playing city, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, or PSG. Certainly not a great reward for a decent CL campaign.
The Lewis Skelly rescinded red, although welcome news, has probably made Mikel’s thinking even more difficult with city coming up at the weekend.
We need to get this game won early so we can give our main players a rest and then cheer on Club Brugge.
I’ve enjoyed most of our CL nights so far so I’m excited to see another win and lots of Gunners goals COYG.

I’m back in the land of the living after the storm, been without electricity since 3am last Friday, and got it back at 4pm today. On Friday evening and Saturday I had to clear a few trees off the road to get to neighbours who had also cut trees on their stretch of the road so we could access a primary road and get to the local town.
Had to go a km from my home on the Saturday to get even intermittent phone signal and was able to register my home and others out of power, on the Sunday phoned for an estimated restoration date and it said Tuesday, so on Tuesday I phoned again for an update only to be told they had no record of my outage, so registered again, same thing happened on Wednesday and again on Thursday, but at least on Thursday I was able to be put through to an actual person, and she put my details on to the local area office. Today an ESB crew came to my neighbours to connect a new line as hers was broken, and I had to argue with them to at least try and restore mine, but they were reluctant as my line is hanging a little low and was near to touching tree tops, but thankfully after I was talking to them a couple more crews came to help them and I got power back, they had been saying I was another week away from restoration. About 15 houses about 1.5km to 2km from my home are still without power, which is unusual as the ESB normally reconnect quicker when there is at least 10 houses or more out in one area.
To my big surprise I have internet, even if it is very slow, but my god its great to be warm again and to have lights.

Markyb I’d take those financial numbers with a pinch of salt, clubs love to blacken the name of a player who snubs them, look at the assassination job being done on Jhon Duran by Aston Villa after he left them today, all of a sudden he is a real bad egg.

Ayden Heaven has completed his move to Man Utd on a 4 and a half year deal with an option of an extra year, he is part of their first team squad now.
He joins an ever increasing list of young players turning their back on Arsenal, which is a real worry. Who would have thought even 5 years ago that so many of our Academy players would turn down contracts with AFC to move to other clubs. It was almost unheard of for any of our young players to turn down pro contracts, even contract extensions, but now Heaven becomes at least the sixth young player(schoolboys who turned down scholarship deals, academy players who turned down pro deals, and young pros who turned down contract extensions) this season to turn down deals at AFC and leave for pastures new.
Something is rotten within our Academy, Per Mertesacker needs to up his game.
