Disgusting VAR Distracts From Performance.

In this #UncensoredArsenal match review of Newcastle v Arsenal, Shotta and Blackburn George consider what was the primary reason for the Gunners first defeat of the season. They concur that both the on-field referees and VAR were awful when it came to both teams. This was most evident when the officials refused to call at least one blatant foul in the build up to Newcastle’s goal. But both commentators highlight the under-performance of the Gunners who only had one shot on target for the entire game. In George’s opinion performances this season are not as good as the previous and fears that Arsenal will struggle for top-4 unless they adopt more flexible tactics.

  1. Belated apologies to the Pos Arse crew for no podcast after the Sheffield Utd game. My tv went dark the night before the game and none of the streams worked for me. Now we are back in business.

  2. To be honest pointing out that the PIGMOL is bent is no longer relevant as it is almost a fact.
I lost count of the amount of errors in our game against the barcodes they were happening that often.
The excuses coming out from ex referees and pundits is now embarrassing, they obviously forget they have been on TV before saying the complete opposite.
It is strange how I can’t remember Newcastle getting so many decisions before the change of owners.
The one positive is ARSENAL were the best of the three teams on display.

  3. Yes, they were the best team, which is why they managed one shot on target in 90 minutes.

But of course, that was the referee’s fault.

  5. If in close games against the top teams, the ref breaks up play allows the opposition to continually get away with assaults and ignores obviously penalties then your stats will obviously look bad.
It decries belief that anyone would suggest we weren’t the better of the three teams.

  6. Arsenal U19’s drew 1-1 with Seville today, but that was not enough to keep them in contention for the knockout stages, as it was their first point from 4 games. A poor campaign for the lads

  11. With four forwards missing from the starting line up that was a good effort.
Burnley look like a side who will eventually come good and win most of their last ten games just like Wigan all those seasons ago.
After the amount of really dirty dangerous, studs up, challenges that have gone unpunished you have to feel sorry for the lightweight Vieira. He committed a red card offence on paper but in context with the rest of the season it was Powderpuff.
Poor old Kai can’t do anything right at the moment and even got outjumped by B in the build up to the first goal.
Overall another good performance playing a team making it very difficult for us.

  14. We’re fascinating this season. We’ve barely got going, we’re missing half a team, we’re carrying some underperforming players, barely create clear-cut chances from open play, but we have functionally the best defence in the league.

    Other curiosities:

We’ve had more final-third touches than any other team in the league (AFC and City are miles clear of everyone in that regard).

We’ve delivered almost twice as many in-swinging corners as any team in the PL (80 to Villa’s 47). That is also more than twice as many as any other team in Europe’s top five leagues.

Conclusion is that Arteta is genuinely a product of Guardiola and David Moyes. Dour, unenterprising, but extremely well-drilled, tactically unorthodox, and deadly from set pieces—even more dangerous because we get so many of them.

This may be Arteta’s final form! It’s hideous but intriguing at the same time.

I agree Arteta has both traits of the managers you mentioned but he has picked up a few things from Wenger also.
The football this season is not as pleasing on the eye but in recent weeks the defensive side of the game has looked pretty good.
