A Good Performance Despite Anti-Football.

Hi Everyone.

In this podcast we look at how we did against an Everton team that did everything to make the game a horrible watch. Fortunately it gave them exactly what the deserved, sweet F. all. It was a hard watch but that was no fault of Arsenal, who tried to make their superior football count, which thankfully, it ultimately did.

  1. Really good show lads with some great points.
Firstly on the offside or rather on the massive error the officials made to disallow the goal (unless it wasn’t an error and they’re just corrupt). Forgot about where Eddie was because he could of been leaning on the goal post and it wouldn’t of mattered, forget about whether the the Everton player did it deliberately or not. What the football world should be concentrating on is to be offside the ball has to be played forward and Gabriel or any other ARSENAL player played the ball forward. In fifty five years of watching football I’ve never seen an offside when the ball was played backwards and I don’t think I will ever see it again.
This wasn’t an official missing something in the blink of an eye, this was officials in a studio watching with time on their side and overulling the original decision. This was also about every pundit, journo, ex referee totally getting this wrong or choosing to ignore the facts. Why is none of the media talking about this basic principle, why has there no apology from Pigmol the silence is deafening.
On the goalkeeping issue I certainly wasn’t as bold as George to say Raya would be in this quick but I did say on the POD when I was last on that one of the keepers would be leaving at the end of the season. I still believe that but I not sure which one yet. I’m sure over the next two games we will see who is Mikel’s favourite at this stage in the season.
On MOTM I have never believed in giving it to the goalscorer just because he scored and this game certainly didn’t change my mind. Yes Rice gave the ball in dangerous areas twice but so did Trossard choosing to play straight across the pitch when he couldn’t see who was coming on to it.
Indeed it was abit of a theme because apart from those two Odegaard, Zinchenko and Martinelli all managed it.
Some times you just have to admit there was no stand out players and actually it was a team performance that won the game.
Lastly on the two upcoming games, both are good teams but are bit of unknowns.
PSV have sold some players but have replaced them with quality and have started well with a good manager.
You could probably say the same about the spuds only no one knows where their standard is at. They have beaten a poor manure but we’re lucky to beat a poor Sheffield Utd at home. The points and GD shows they have done well but until late Sunday we won’t know.
We can assume that both teams like to attack but out of the two managers ours is the more cautious even if that mainly shows when we are ahead.

  2. Something I forgot. I was one of those who said Vieira was lightweight and he was.
Just like Paul Merson when he first come into the team for all their technical abilities their lack of physical presence made them ineffective.
Just like Paul Merson, Vieira has started a new season with a more physical presence. I thought Everton was exactly the type of game he shouldn’t of been playing because of this.
Fair play to Mikel seeing this as an ultimate test if you can deal with any of Dyche’s thug teams you should be able to deal with anyone.
So well done Mikel and well done Vieira.

  10. A special night & atmosphere for the Gunners & fans.

seeing Saka come off the pitch before 70mins, when he was not needed on the pitch since half time was the moment my party started.

Fingers crossed Arteta continues to develop his understand of fitness and fatigue and listens to the Pro physios & not the trough trawlers.
And that the rotating party continues long after the NLD.

  11. Yeah I also liked the early subs and hope he rotates and uses the whole squad wisely this season.

  12. Lewis Jones, the Sky predictions man has just posted this about the North London Derby.
“Doctor, just hook this game straight into my veins please. This could be an adrenaline rush of an encounter full of goals, incidents, passion and drama”
Yeah all the signs point to a swashbuckling event with both teams trading blows and throwing caution to the wind. However we know our manager has a cautious side and after watching PSV get spanked after coming at us Angela might just curb his full attacking style.
Very often to the NLD bucks whatever trend leads up to the game and often managers try not to lose these games rather than throw all their eggs in for the win.
We always try to start fast and I don’t expect anything different but as the game wears on Mikel might just employ both keepers seven CBs and two holding midfielders if we’re winning.
Apparently Madison has had more shots than Harry at this point compared to last season but I can’t see Declan affording him such space.
If they do play a high line I would expect our lightening forward players would have a field day.

  14. Yesterday Arsenal U18’s beat Southampton U18’s 4-0 with 15 year old Chido Obi scoring a hattrick, another 15 year old, Theo Julienne made his debut at this level, as did substitute Max Dowman, who is only 13 years old. It seems Dowman at 13 is the second youngest player to play for our U18’s. Cedric Evina the youngest, with Emmanuel Frimpong the 3rd youngest.

    I apologize to gooners everywhere.

  24. It good to see just how consistent Gary Neville can be.
If he has talked bollocks about one ARSENAL game he has talked bollocks about a hundred.
Here he goes again saying we need a striker, really.
Maybe he should watch the game again before shooting his mouth off once more. I think most people’s assessment of this game will conclude it wasn’t up front that caused us to lose the two points.
We didn’t create many chances and although Jesus missed that one glorious opportunity that was it really.
The bollocks about Eddie was hindsight personified. He was standing exactly where Declan was when he scored against manure and as Declan had been told to stand there it is very possible Eddie was told to stand there as well.
Imagine looking at every game and every time the ball drops in the area saying so and so should of been there
In conclusion Gary Neville is a toss pot and a failed manager.
