Who Does Cutting Wages Benefit?

Hello positives.

In this latest podcast we consider if the wage helps Kroenke, Arteta, the fans, the players or the man in the moon?

The cost of reducing the wage bill has been about £130m in lost revenue from sales. The policy is madness. But the fans are buying into it. Go figure!

Pedantic George.

  1. The biggest laugh or irony or complete fuckwitery is that these same exponents of the wage reduction were the same “spend some money clowns” that hounded one of the PL best ever managers out of the club.
I think it might be even more stupid than hundreds of them outside one of the most modern stadiums in the world singing where the fucking money gone.

  2. a good 3-1 win for Arsenal U23’s over Chelsea U23’s this evening

Chelsea started well, took the lead but within a minute or so Awe drew AFC level. Chelsea continued to be the better side but Salah Eddine put us ahead, before Hutchinson scored a late third goal to seal it. CFC missed two open goals during the game.

by the way I seen a stat claiming Aubameyang scored 20 goals in his last 44 starts for Arsenal, we have no striker that seems anywhere near being able to do a thing like that

  4. on the performance today, Graczyk made some good saves, Awe, Swanson and Ogungbo were good at the back, Azeez was a bit disappointing, after a poor enough game Salah-Eddine scored a great goal and then played well for remainder of the game. Hutchinson was our most dangerous attacker in the first half, went out of it in the second half, but scored a brilliant late goal. Biereth put in a good shift, as did Henry-Francis. Kirk was up for the physical battle today, and Walters had some good moments going forward.
We did not bring on any subs

  9. Auba may have scored 20 goals on his last 44 starts (why 44 sounds like stats are being manipulated) but his all round play was bad and he was missing more and more chances.
He should of been dropped long before he was, however bad the actions of Mikel and however wrongly Auba was treated and maybe misused in the team let’s not pretend he was playing anywhere near well.

  11. yes ian he should have been dropped for poor performances, but our no nonsense manger oddly hadn’t the balls to do it. And he also couldn’t find tactics to get Aubameyang scoring.

the 20 goal thing was just that, his last 20 goals came from 44 starts. The point being we don’t look like any of what we have left could score at that rate, and we are told they suit the Arteta system better. What does that say about the Arteta system

  13. Chelski have won all youth comps for years, decades even without getting anyone in the first team. They have changed their tack and are loaning out even younger since the transfer ban and that has seemed to have an effect on their youth team results.

  14. Football is a team game and many teams have gone on to get better when high scorers have gone or have been put on bench.
When Ian Wright ( one of the most prolific but selfish strikers) was put on the bench the team got better.
I don’t think there are many people who think Auba should have retained his place in the side however he could of still proved a useful sub and squad player for the smaller games.
If we hadn’t told the world we were desperate to get rid of him we may have even got a decent transfer fee for him.
His new contract highlights project youth was a knee jerk reaction after the car crash ot the initial old player policy.

  15. I would share your optimism regarding the team scoring more goals if we had players of the caliber of Bergkamp, Overmars, and Anelka as backup scorers but we now have Nketiah and Laccazette to fill the void.

My thing is Why 6 months prior were the club making Auba the highest earner and our most important player? Its not like this (a player over 30 on a massive contract whose form dips alarmingly) didn’t happen with Willian in recent history. Seems like no one at the club has the foresight or long term plans to progress the club, decisions appear to be reactive rather proactive from a managerial and boardroom view. makes them look very amateur compared with what was there before them.

Also makes no sense to me that we are struggling but can afford to gift a player to a champions league team for nothing!!

  16. I mean could we not negotiate a player swap deal? swap with a youth prospect? anything to get some value back.
Instead we get this propaganda bullshit about the club saving 25 million on wages they agreed to pay out in the first place a few months earlier.
The same way the 195 million of player given away in 2 years is treated as some sort of gain and reflects arteta and the boards genius.

in recent times we have paid our best players to leave on some bullshit politics.

  21. so just a thought on our reduced squad, and keeping in mind Elneny, Lacazette and Nketiah are out of contract in the summer and could very well leave on free transfers. If we do get European football for next season, and certainly if we get CL football, then we are going to need a good large squad to be able to cope. So we’d have to add a lot of players to our squad in the summer. Yes we have some great youths coming through, like Hutchinson, Salah-Eddine, Beireth, Patino, Azeez etc etc, but also remember these guys were considered only a couple of weeks ago, not good enough to throw on in the FAC or CC games when a goal was urgently needed, so how can we go on the assumption they will be ready next season for CL football.

  23. I think we are only aiming to hit Europa League at best meaning the start of the competition is quite soft so only small expenditure would be needed plus the youth players before seeing which positions we would need in the second half of the season again only maybe two additions.
Actually this sounds incredibly simplistic and actually I’m talking bollox.

  26. Foreveready,
On your thoughts on big Oli, remember the crowd were booing his name as it was read put before the game as well as when he was on the pitch.
There was even a section who refused to celebrate and goal he scored because they wanted a new striker.
As Arsene was losing power at this time Giroud was basically forced out.

    Like

  27. Giroud left because he wanted more regular playing time in order to get into the French World Cup squad, which is what happened and he turned out to be one of their stars.

Wenger had a policy never to hold onto players that had made it clear they wanted to leave for whatever reason.

One assumes that he felt an unhappy player cold not give his all and might affect the others.

Wenger was into keeping everyone happy and contented and, as a result, was so successful.

On the other hand, it seems that the only one whose happiness and contentment is important now is Arteta’s.

He seems to even go out of his way to encourage discontent, in order to remove high wage players and anyone not prepared to bow down to the Arteta deity.

It is only a matter of time before the younger players start to rebel, but, in the meantime, it is the experienced players who are baulking at the atmosphere and being shoved out one after another.

Why would any currently successful player want to come to such a toxic and unpleasant atmosphere?

    Like

  28. Giroud was already an integral part of the French but yes wanted to insure his place but let’s not pretend it was all about playing time.
As a manager it is difficult to give a player maximum time when you know he will be booed by the home fans as he comes on.
I am convinced had the crowd supported him and Arsene more he would of been given enough playing time to enable him to stay.

  29. Getting rid of a footballer who would go on to be the main forward of a World Cup winning team and replacing him with a footballer who could not even make the same national football team squad (even with other forwards banned from the squad!) was the first strong and obvious sign that the non-Football people were after a change calling the shots at Arsenal Football Club.
As hinted at in enough press conferences by the old gaffer (without breaking his contract!).

Dare we to mention this obvious objective observation on our 365 24/7 Arsenal blogs podcasts and amongst the professional dishwashers I mean PR consultants. The club’s change in policy which they demanded then celebrated like lemmings jumping off a cliff the twats.
Yes. you have people who have a different idea running the club now and this change was demanded and celebrated by the blaggers/PR consultants and those gullible enough to listen to their click baiting shite.

  30. I recommend reading or watching the Damned Utd.

I used to laugh hard at football clubs that spent bazillions on journeyman footballers like Paulinho as they ticked all the boxes that people that satirise or scorn football could imagine. It was or is a very funny spectacle! Shit loads of money spent on “footballers” not that much better then what you can find down the local park.

It is now history that the Arsenal blaggers demanded then celebrated their club being turned into a copy of the clowns from up the road.

  31. Fizman’s choice:

Was not an easy philosophical puzzle.

The comedians now owning Everton who just signed up the coach who couldn’t coax a tune from an amazing squad that six months after he left them won a European Cup. Unintentional hilarity for the rest of us, a living nightmare for the Everton fans!

    Or

The Jokers who bought in Sanlehhi and perhaps worse given his record before he arrived at the club.

I’m grateful for the good company and sane character on these pages that allowed us to appreciate the good times whilst we had them with out the abuse and binary straw man constructs from those we can now safely identify as idiots. Idiots that they are.
    Thanks!

  39. Once again we have a really important game, at first I thought it was because the double header could decide the positions of both teams and which finishes higher.
However with West Ham never really getting out of their slump and the spuds and manure not yet getting the new managerial bump and stability places higher up the table are looking achieveable not necessarily because of how we are playing but almost by default as everyone else is as shit as us.
The final ten games have always been the most important of the season but their are a big clump of teams who could come fourth this season and could be the worst fourth placed team in decades.
I always said Mikel was a lucky manager this season could be his most lucky yet.
