Arsenal tip up in Moscow taking a 4-1 advantage form the first leg. Well in a normal week you might conclude that should be enough, but this week in Europe seems anything but normal.
With Mkhitaryan out for the foreseeable and Xhaka tucked up in bed with a sniffle I think the team will be
Cech
Bellerin, Mustafi, Koscielny, Monreal
ElNeny, Ramsey Wilshere
Welbeck, Lacazette, Ozil.
I don’t have much more light to shed for you ,so talk among yourselves, after all, that is what the site is here for.
Enjoy the game.
Have we all chilled now?

I think Wenger is doing his pre Newcastle press conference with the English media tonight after the game.

According to the experts Arsenal “limped through” Keown and daft Jenas.
6-3 on aggregate
Not like the magnificent 2-1 win by Athletico, or the 6-5 Salzburg and 5-3 Marseilles win
Limping my arse

That game could not have been easy tonight. There was a lot of pressure anyway, then the Roma/Barcelona result must have been playing on the minds of both teams. It would have made the AFC players a bit nervous and no doubt gave a boost to CSKA especially as they were playing at home. I think we should just be glad that the team found the resources to get through and breathe a sigh of relief. It’s not always going to be champagne football and to expect it is unrealistic. Sometimes the result really is all that matters.

Arsenal teams have always needed togetherness and understanding to turn great. hope this team stays together… Jack Ramsey.. glad el neny and Ozil have signed on… the others should get on board…
still so much to play for this season and they can start afresh without the OZIL Sanchez will they – wont they… hoe Jack and Ramsey do not replace them!

If you found Keown and Jenas on a lemon tree you would throw them away for being too small and too sour

A little. The reliefphoria was pretty big with that goal.
Must admit in early stages ,a little, and when going got bad between their first and Danny’s strike, the feeling was back upon me that we need a 5-10 per cent improvement from somewhere to be where I really want to see us as a team.
Questions for me are always whether that can come from improvements to our very attacking total-football-y approach or from developing the ability to lock things down better defensively at certain times.
Not much idea how we’d go about either, nor probability of either option. Most realistic hope for me is that we find some unbelievable centre mid, with I don’t know what attributes, to play in the three with Xhaka and Ramsey, though that is admittedly a bit unfair on Elneny, who is now putting in plenty of good performances.

Golovin is some player wouldn’t mind if we went him he just looks so confident in his ability. And he has some serious pace not to mention his willingness to put in a shift.

Laurent Koscielny: ‘Arsenal did not follow gameplan against CSKA Moscow’
Koscielny: ‘Arsenal did not follow gameplan’

Laurent Koscielny has admitted that Arsenal failed to follow Arsene Wenger’s gameplan early on during their Europa League quarter-final second leg at CSKA Moscow.
The Gunners led 4-1 from the first leg at the Emirates Stadium but found themselves trailing in Russia to goals from Fedor Chalov and Kirill Nababkin.
Arsenal sat deep and invited pressure onto themselves during much of the game, which was ultimately salvaged as Danny Welbeck and Aaron Ramsey struck for a 6-3 aggregate win.
“It was not the plan (to defend deep),” Koscielny told BT Sport after the game.
“I think we missed a lot of movement, to be available for our teammates. We didn’t win duels. They played well, had opportunities and took them. It put pressure on us, if they score we are out.
“So I am happy because we came back, but our performance was not enough for the stage of the competition. We will see the draw, but need more confidence in our game.”
Arsenal are joined by Atletico Madrid, Marseille and Red Bull Salzburg in the last four of the competition, with the draw taking place on Friday at 12pm BST.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has missed our last two matches after suffering an injury in the first leg of our Europa League quarter-final against CSKA Moscow.
After Thursday night’s second leg at VEB Arena, Arsène Wenger provided an update on where our midfielder is in his rehab.
“He has a medial ligament strain, he should be out for two more weeks,” Wenger said. “Do not be too worried. We have a very good medical staff and he is very serious in his rehab.”

anyone see Marssille’s final goal tonight, offside, to me it seemed that the linesman forgot that there needs to be two defending players between attacker and the goal for it to be offside,

we have one hell of a run of games for rest of the season, a very packed schedule, and with the game around the EL semi final games, could see us rotate big time and maybe drop some points, and if we make the final we would again likely have to rotate big time, again likely costing us points, we could very well finish 7th, does anyone know if, when Man City win the league, do we get EL place from CC final, or would we need southampton to miss out on making FAC for us to get a place. of course that is if we don’t win EL and get CL spot next season.

Pretty sure Danny Welbeck now has as many goals this season as Alexis Sanchez. 😍

Wenger: “Above all the qualities Danny Welbeck has, when your back is to the wall, he looks like he has that extra special motivation in his body & in his head that can give you something special. That’s something that’s really exceptional & that you do not find in many players.”
