Arsenal – Hornets beware

Arsenal-Training.jpg

@arse_or_brain sets the afternoon up nicely

We have all seen our back-up lads do extremely well at the start of the season and we all know they would be needed in the Premier league at times this season. With the international break taking its toll on already tired legs, wild emotions and injuring some of players that looked fully fit, then this could be the time those players on the edge to step into the spotlight, take centre stage and take the plaudits for the quality we all know they have.
The Hornets have done well away from home and this is the best start to a season for a long time but their home record so far has been poor, even though they have played top teams. Conversely our away form has looked poor on paper until you look a little closer and realise although we weren’t on top form at Stoke we were still very unlucky and against chelski gave possibly our best performance of the season.

JACK IS BACK and with most of the squad dusting down the international cobwebs this could be his re-coronation as young King and saviour of English football, even though Arsene has said he wants to be cautious with him. Talking of returning players Per could be back in and obviously his height could be vital and his experience calming for those around him.
I would suggest we need a fast start so in the later part of the game when the miles start to tell we can control the tempo and reduce the need to run at full pelt except on the counter of which we need to make more use of and make correct decisions at critical times. Our counter attacks are one of our poorest areas and if we get that right the goals ‘for’ column could be greatly inflated and teams would be finished off earlier.
Enjoy yourself wherever your watching P.A.s COYG.

  1. I would certainly like to see Jack involved today as he is a player who can dribble and a rarity in the PL. Defenders are not used to players running at them with the ball.

  2. Jack and Oz together behind Olly and Laca might be interesting?

  3. gf can’t see all 4 in the starting 11, in fact I would be surprised to see more than 2 of them.

  4. We have Red Star in next game, we are more likely to see Jack start that one, Olly too.

  6. Liverpool turning the screws on Scudamore’s and Riley’s favourite club at this moment. Without Sane, who was highly regarded on debut for Southampton on this forum, do they have the quality in the final third to make it count?

Chambelain to come on and score the winner? Hehe.

  7. Mane not Sane!

Both very good forwards, hopefully the big three will take them out of the PL sooner rather then later!

Arsenal U18s v Southampton: Virginia; Daley-Campbell, Clarke, Ballard, Thompson; Omole, M. Smith; Swanson, John-Jules, Saka; Balogun.
Medley, Olowu and Olayinka not involved which suggests they could be in U23 squad for Monday’s game against Sunderland.

  10. A welcome Post re-introducing the first post-interlull game for Arsenal.

As is usually the case with me after a forced break, I hope for the best, but would not be surprised if the result goes against us. Faint heart? Yup, but experience has taught me not to take anything for granted.

[Sssh, don’t breathe a word to anyone – but I have enjoyed the Pool v Manure game, and the former deserve to be ahead of Maureen’s infamous parked bus – which could mean Lukaku might pinch the wining late goal.

  11. For me it’s funny to see the most expensive squad in the history of he sport play to the infamous “shit on a stick” tactical genius of the special agents’ special one.

And still need a dubious offical to give him the benefit of the doubt on not one but a few calls. Away.

Whilst running down the clock essentially from the first half. The most expensive squad…

    Special. Indeed.

Mike Bassett had/has more footballs then this charlatan. (Bassett was a special performance from Ricky Tomlinson. The kind of genius and class that we didn’t just witness in this football match).

  12. Well I listened to Tyler and Neville tell me that Jose was putting together another “tactical masterclass” and that in the final 20 minutes the visitors would snatch the winner at Anfield.

In the final 20 minutes, as in the preceding 70, Liverpool were the better team and I don’t think United even had a goal bound shot in the second half, let alone on target. A great pity that Liverpool took off Countinho as he was head and shoulders better than any other player for 70 minutes.

First decent PL side Manyoo have faced this season – and they folded.

    ‘tactical masterclass” my arse.

  13. Conversely Wales-Ireland was the real deal. Classic away victory by an underdog.
The difference being that MoN had more ambition with his journeyman squad then the specialist (in signing players from special agents) had with the most expensive squad assembled inthe history of sport:

It is funny. Made even more humourous by he unwillingness of the hacks and twats to make even the smallest critique of their favourite business partner for his inability to manage top players or even just top teams etc. (Robben, Hazard, the entire Madrid squad, etc….).

  14. Totally agree with your 2:27 pm, Anicoll.

In the event, I suspect a point a piece for Piddle and Manyoo was better for us, but I did so want Maureen to have his smug face rubbed in the doodoo – and Pool were ‘robbed’ in a way – but they just could not score – whereas against us on a wobbly day everything seemed to go in.

Per gave us the lead, Deeney penalty got their leveling goal, a clear dive for the penalty, watford lad likely to get 3 game ban for it, but that won’t do us any good. Cleverly got the winner.

it was a poor game, lots of effort, but really lacked quality, A downright awful performance from us, average first half but disgraceful in the second half, and with each sub we got worse.

Kos and Danny both injured again to compound matters.

Positivistas I cannot be positive after that shower of SHIT.

That was SHIT. Watford worked harder and deserved the win. We were observing them win everything in the middle, just watching them. We had no ability to anticipate where the ball will drop. This is an observation I have made since watching top European sides. They always try to anticipate where the ball will fall after a challenge. We don’t very often and not at all tonight.

This team is not going ANYWHERE. Wengerball must be in hibernation. I’m angry because there was nothing to enjoy about that performance. I was not in the least entertained or given reason to be hopeful.

    SHIT.

  42. 8 games played, already 9pts off top, down to 6th, only above Burnley on goals scored, 4 away games, 3 defeats and a draw, pathetic stuff. gong nowhere fast

cech has faced 12 penalties as our keeper and not saved any of them.

very disappointed with Elneny today, ran around a lot, but created nothing, his forward passing was awful,

team played like they didn’t give a shit,

iwobi had a good first half, but was poor in the second, both he and Ozil had good chances to kill the game and were just not clinical at all. 1 goal scored in 4 away games is a very worrying stat, as is 3 defeats.

I believed it would be a game of details , the team did not execute on 2 key chances, leaving the way open for the ref to get them back in the game.

We know this, the team knows this.

Bigger problems going forward, Sead Kolasinac played at less than half pace, Kos and Welbeck have issues again.

  44. yes wwwb we fucked up two great chances, and ref gave them a penalty, but our performance was god damn awful, I would say it was our worst performance of the season, even worse than that shower of shit at Anfield. We had the lead, had control of the game, and failed to perform at any sort of reasonable level in the second half, then fell apart once it went 1-1, and yet its very unlikely that it will make the slightest bit of difference in the chances of selection for any of them

  45. edu i guess if you were the ref you would have given the penalty judging by you first comment. you dont need the replay to know it was not a penalty.
