Fans Take New Signing Badly ! What’s New?

So ,Arsene Wenger is proven right once again – nothing new there says you ?

Last season the malcontents took umbridge when AW said, when discussing how LCFC were able to sign the likes of Mahrez and Kante, despite the big clubs having the exact same scouting info on both players, that a section of Arsenal fans would react negatively if AFC bought a player for £400k, that they did not want to see an unknown signed.
The malcontents told us this was bollocks, yet look at the reaction of the malcontents to the signing of Takuma Asano.
Not only is there negative hysteria from them, its xenophobic, and in some cases downright racist. We also have the brainless soundbite that its a “commercial” signing, or a “shirt sales” signing.
One of the most laughable reasons (should that not be excuses, as I know they like to use that term, when it suits them), for their over the top reaction to this signing, is that it is “all Arsenal FC’s fault”, as they should know better than to announce his signing when Utd have announced Mkhitaryan and Zlatan. They say AFC should have waited till we had a big name(money) signing done and slip in the news about Asano, with it.
So to compound their initial attacks on both AFC and Asano, they have totally disrespected the player again.
Does Takuma Asano not deserve respect, is he not a full International, is he not likely to be playing at the Olympics, did he not have up to 200 scouts running the rule over him at the Toulon U21 tournament in the summer, is he not a big star in his home country, is he not young player of the year in his homeland(their Dele Alli per say, but without the hype)?

Does he not deserve the chance in his last couple of game for them, to say goodbye to his club, their fans, his team mates?

Arsenal announced the deal, cos the story had broken in Japan, Asano was already getting asked lots of questions about it, and he had admitted the move was happening, he even said that the only thing to be decided was if he would join up directly with AFC, or go on loan to get used to European football.

  8. so with all the fuss from the malcontents over AFC not willing to spend big, is it not true, that at this time, AFC have paid the biggest transfer fee of any BPL side, so far this window, with the signing of Xhaka, at a reported £35M. who has been signed for more. I know there has been £300M spend by BPL clubs in the first 8 days of the window.

Our fans get excited about fake transfer rumours then angry when transfers that were never going to happen don’t actually happen.
Take Lacazette. Why are people angry? Does anyone have a clue what’s going on?
Nobody knows if we want Lacazette. Nobody knows if we’ve bid, how much we bid or how much Lyon asked for. How can you act off that?
All the anger created by media hype and no facts

  10. I really don’t know why Arsenal have not signed a world class striker yet, we can easily afford Falcao, or Pato, or Benteke, or Balotelli and I know all of these are the world class striker we need, as the twitter experts told us so, last year and the year before, surely nothing has changed the analysis on these world class top strikers we need

  11. a little transfer related question for you all,

We often hear the soudbite “Arsenal should break the bank for ” this or that player, we all know this to mean pay a massively over inflated price for a big name player, so guys,

who would you like to see Arsenal smash our transfer record for

My choice would be — Gareth Bale

  14. U-21S: ARSENAL 2-2 BOURNEMOUTH – REPORT

By Connor Armstrong at London Colney
    SUMMARY
Arsenal Under-21s came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Bournemouth in a behind-closed-doors friendly at London Colney on Saturday.
The hosts fell behind in the 16th minute when a through ball split the defence, enabling a low drive to squirm underneath the body of Hugo Keto.
The Cherries proceeded to double their lead despite being limited to counter attacks, slotting past Keto in the 39th minute.
The Gunners trailed by two goals at the break, but halved the deficit in the 48th minute when Eddie Nketiah’s curling effort beat the Bournemouth goalkeeper.
Arsenal left it late, but levelled the scores when Nketiah poked home an inviting cross from Emile Smith-Rowe.

    SETTING THE SCENE
Steve Gatting named Tafari Moore, Kristopher da Graca and Ismael Bennacer in the starting XI, with Nketiah joined on the bench by Joe Willock and Josh Da Silva.
Keto started in goal ahead of Joao Virginia, while Ben Sheaf partnered Vlad Dragomir and Bennacer in midfield.
Aaron Eyoma also started, as did Donyell Malen.

    FIRST HALF
Arsenal started on the front foot, with Malen seeing both a header and an overhead kick drop wide of the post inside the opening 10 minutes.
The visitors then stung the Gunners, when a quick pass in behind led to a drilled effort squirming underneath Keto to break the deadlock.
Bournemouth were buoyed by the opener and twice went close, with Keto reacting quickly to make two smart stops.
Tyrell Robinson’s cross was then headed back across goal by Savvas Mourgos, but Malen’s low effort was comfortably held by the Cherries keeper.
The visitors found the net again six minutes before the break, when Keto was beaten in a one-on-one.

    SECOND HALF
The Gunners hit back immediately at the start of the second period, after a raft of changes which saw only Da Graca, Dragomir, Sheaf and Mourgos return to the field for the second half.
Dragomir won possession after pressuring the visitors into a mistake, before angling an inch-perfect pass to Nketiah, whose curling effort rattled in off the bar.
Arsenal then went in search of an equaliser, but Sheaf was crowded out before Nathan Tella fired into the side-netting.
Nketiah then saw three efforts turned away by the Bournemouth goalkeeper as the hosts began to turn the screw.
Nketiah’s persistence would eventually pay dividends, when he prodded home late on after racing on to a cross from Smith-Rowe.

  26. isn’t it odd that so many of the malcontents who are demanding new signings are also whinging that Arsenal are selling the likes of Hayden and not giving youth a real chance.

    Like

  27. I think if you are logically making the point we should do one or the other then its a fair one.
If Hayden is going then I think it’s a real shame , he is a true utility player I’ve seen play in ever position including in goal. He is a better CB than all of the youth players we have at the club so basically be 5th choice there. He would be fourth choice as a traditional screen in front of the back four and can do a job up front akin to Oliver. He is also one of those leader thingys that everyone keeps going on about. As he is also English, 2.5 million would be a bargain for the barcodes.

  28. ian as you say, he would at best be 5th choice cb, and 4th choice dm, so what would be in it for him, badly needing game time to keep improving, he just would not get it at afc next season. He never managed to hold down a regular place for Hull last season, yet we have people saying he should be in the Arsenal team, I do wonder how these people would react if we signed someone who was not first choice at a championship club and put him in our team,

Has any of the academy players afc have sold or released really come back to haunt us yet. The last one I can recall was Andy Cole who we sold 24 years ago.

I seen one idiot in meltdown over hayden being sold, whinging that we don’t give youth a “real” chance, yet minutes later totally ruled out the idea that Akpom should be given a “real” chance this season, no when it comes to strikers, we have to go out and buy a “worldie”

  29. ian Hayden sees himself as a midfielder, Hull played him as a midfielder, and reports say Newcastle see him as a midfield and in midfield we have Xhaka, Coquelin, Ramsey, Wilshere, Cazorla, Elneny, for 2 spots, we also have ox who likes to play cm. so where does hayden fit in the queue. We can’t find a place in the squad for Toral who had a far more impressive season out on loan last season, picking up awards galore, Birmingham fans player of the year, players player of the year, goal of the year, and more.
