This is a post Arsenal Andrew made earlier today. I believe it deserves its own blog. Nice to see you Andrew, absence makes the heart…………….and all that .
I suspect it may take a few years for the enormity of all Arsene Wenger’s achievements to be fully digested, absorbed, understood and appreciated. Much as the great artists often only earned full recognition once they had stopped working, so too may Arsene only finally get the universal acknowledgement that most here feel he richly deserves.
Yesterday’s signing, aside from strengthening the side, is possibly more significant in its value as a statement of intent. Building on 2013′s Ozil signature, the timing, rhyming as it does with the PUMA deal and kit launch, the sense of all our ducks finally being in a row is now overwhelming.
Not only do we have the firepower pitchside, but the ability to add to our arsenal, season in, season out, thanks to the outstanding commercial work Kroenke has allowed to take place behind the scenes and so triumphantly executed by Gazidis and co.
Clearly Arsene will rightly go down as the architect of Arsenal in the 21st Century but the role of Kroenke and the success of Gazidis should never be forgotten. The euphoria most Gooners are feeling in the summer of 2014 is in no small measure thanks to all three, in spite of the vicious lies posted against their name by those who chose not to see the wood for the trees.
A small number of us called this exactly right – not over recent months but throughout several years. Years when we were attacked, belittled and derided.
We are probably more entitled than most to savour the coming success.
We’ll certainly know how to appreciate it.

A very good Post, Arsenal Andrew.
The club hierarchy deserve a great deal of credit for its successful achievement of its essential back room targets, as you say, and it is very welcome to see the hard work beginning to pay off in the transfer market.
In my experience, there are a large number of fans who share your view, but either do not blog, or do not wish to get into slanging matches by expressing that view on a public forum.
Blogging is for enjoyment. For exchanging opinions with other Arsenal fans, and for the pleasure of the good company that can bring.
I am sure that there are many like me who are only interested in the club and everything that is best for the club, and share with others in the joy of its achievements and the disappointment for its setbacks.
Everything else is ……. meh.

And yet even though we got it right, you’ll now hear a lot of those that got it wrong denying they ever said anything of the sort, and therefore, it’s probably pointless that we got it right anyway.

i dont disgaree but with regards to supporter- blogs for football teams i think they are there to support and be positive and not mean spirited or spiteful or lets face it….talking about their own club and manager with such disrespect…perhaps familiarity breeds contempt and 18 years of wenger prompted some who were too quick to give definitive judgment on matters they didnt fully grasp. thats fine…but where is their apology? Or will they spin it like they usually do and claim it was their pressure and how lucky we all are to have them as fans for telling the club what/how to do ?
anyway…fuck them….we got sanchez ..wenger has signed for another 3 tyears..acf , le grove a.t, spectrum and all those pitifull arseholes can go suck a banana
* explanation for the easily offended : the term banana is not to be confused with the fruit thrown at stadiums in italy /spain but the other “banana”

John,
I think for me and many others that it was never about being right, it was about having a space, or cyber space, where an Arsenal fan could support and enjoy their team, warts an’ all, without deliberately disingenuous heckles from shrills working for people who want to buy a very valuable asset in the centre of London, and those stupid enough to fall for their propaganda.
Wenger not Wonga (debt peonage).

This Sanchez transfer is almost as funny as the Özil transfer. Almost but not quite. The humiliation of Levy and Tottenham in N5 whilst Dick Law was whipping out his wad of Wonga in Madrid? The Arsenal players taking the field against the Enemy knowing that Özil was on huge way whilst the Groaners were in peak meltdown mode. It was all almost too good to be true, especially the bit where the Groaners had spent the summer lauding Levy whilst ignoring his historical record.
Bear in mind everyone that the Groaners spent last September saying the Özil signing was a fluke, conducted in the last few weeks of the window, only made after the villa game, etc. That was before they decided he was lazy and stealing a living.
This staggering level of public negativity affected the squad. Only an idiot or a liar could attempt and fail to deny it, and we’ve seen a few of those.
The Arsenal played the Wigan and Hull games under immense pressure, but they got that trophy! Any Experts put there who still don’t get it can refer to the many many comments this World Cup by players and coaches on huge effects of pressure and confidence. It certainly is rocket science.
Well played the Arsenal.

Also delicious: Liverpool weakened in the same breath as Arsenal are strengthened! The fact that Sanchez decided on Arsenal rather than Liverpool or Juventus is also very sweet. Btw, apparently, Sanchez has mentioned that Cesc told him great things about Arsenal, AW and London. Thanks, Cesc. You should have listened to your own advice and come back last summer! Pardon me, but I first read this article, and then another, on UA. I commented on UA, but could’ve done so here. I will post below:
Even supposedly reasonable Arsenal fans have been on here talking about Gazidas and Law as though they know anything at all.
For me, these people have been picked to do their jobs due to their track record elsewhere and the club’s belief that – those they employ will bring something big to the table that is AFC. Gazidas was head of MLS, or some other big US sport. I don’t know what Law was doing before. The Arsenal board sought out the right people to do the work, starting with Arsène Wenger. (Having sacked a successful manager for taking bungs).
The Arsenal Way, don’t you know.
How often and for how long has Arsène said something like, we will only spend on people who will add something to the squad, implying also that players must be bought at the correct price. (There is a formula, you know. Sure, the gasses and oilers/state financed clubs may splash out any amount for benchwarmers, but that’s not the Arsenal way. It never was.)
My guess is that the moaners never had mortgages, or simply love running up their credit cards, or frittering away their inheritance.
Patients or Patience?
Apologies?
I really hope those fans who were shouting shit at the opening game against Taylor, can no longer attend games. You lot were disgraceful. You are not Arsenal supporters.
How about “bully” and his mates on Arsenal fan tv. You spent half the season slagging off Wenger, then I saw something last night with the main presenter asking Ivan questions. This presenter assured Ivan that there was never any negativity coming from him. You, presenter-face, spent most of your on camera time urging people to slag off Arsène and the club.
I will never forget you and your ilk, for you’ll be back to slag off whoever when you feel the time is right.
That goes for all the blogs, press, plundits, etc. Go away. Nothing good that’s happening is due to anything you’ve said or done!
Keep on, PA.
Forward Arsenal

I do recall, though, that some believed out of principle that AW would NEVER, EVER pay 30million or over 120K/week wages for a player. To me, there was a time for that philosophy and it fit with circumstances. It is great to see the club doing its best to progress using the resources it has built through years of sacrifice. And I am very glad AW gets a chance to use this money to build a great team in the style he wants–he deserves that freedom. Good things ahead. He adds value to the team and now that team has increased its talent. One or two more could certainly help us and put us into the frame to win big things over the next couple of seasons.

Thinking of the usefulness of stats in sport (very useful!) I just checked into the cricket, and England have collapsed again!
This England team ae playing uder a lot of pressure. Most of it coming from Sky plundits. And the players aren’t even allowed to say anything back because the ECB are afraid of upsetting their sponsors. Confidence. It is crucial. And more valuble then any TV deals. You do worry for the once precocious talent of Cook, he’s too young IMO to be dealing with such pressures, still not savvy enough. He needs…someone like Arteta! Just rewatched the final the other night: Arteta was magnificent.
A shame all these Arsenal Experts will never acknowledge the undue pressure they put upon their team. No worries, last seasons squad turned out to be tougher then the bullies imagined.

Greetings wonderful friends! Goodness me, hard working, quick thinking, instinctive Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal, with Theo to his right, man oh man that’s something, and/or Ox, this could be crazy at times. I’m a bit giddy, partly by the thought of one Giroud and one Sanchez in one team; now what news of Campbell, loan or into the squad (left sided I presume). Then Debuchy, class. One more besides keeper too I suspect, but who knows. Suddenly the team looks massive. Well, let’s say welcome and see.

Btw, George–you’ve taken some flack for headlines recently (for no good reason), so it is worth mentioning that this was a very nice one with Pires allusions. Especially good as we have been looking for someone on the left there since Pires, and Sanchez may just play there quite frequently with Giroud and Walcott the others in a front three.
That, in fact, is the interesting thing to think about now. How will he be used and in what combinations. Fascinating and exciting both!

Look’s to me that Ivan & Arsene knew full well that Mcbitey would jump ship from the Mersey this summer.
As he had only two places he wanted to go to, we were ready with plans for Real and Barca.
Arsene knew exactly how to get Ozil last summer, and we probably would have stuck with the Higuain deal too – if Real allowed us to.

DC, still work to do, especially to have a good chance to be in contention in Europe. Sure, Chelsea did it with a pretty poor team and Porto managed somehow, but we need that strong midfielder, imo. Even in the league, depth is key. But we are looking quite serious about getting there.

George, you have seemed pretty convinced that we are in for Khedira. What do you think of that? Do you think that would give us a good chance for the league or to get to quarters/semis (or better) in Europe?

Am I the only one for whom a Sami Khedira transfer invokes a bit of a “blech!” reaction? Other than the wonderful game he had against Brazil the other night, where he played next to the magnificent Toni Kroos and Bastian Schweinsteiger, I’ve never seen him do anything worthwhile. In fact, most of my Real Madrid friends think he’s quite shit and want rid of him yesterday. I really hope we don’t buy him. Let him go to another club to make space for Yay Toure. I’d rather get a proper holding midfielder and use the Ox, Ramsey and Jack as our box to box midfield options.

Yes, I could’ve been more specific: the people around me became quieter as that game slipped away from us. I felt alone in shouting out “outrageous, teef” etc, as Taylor allowed the villa thugs to stamp up and down on Arsenal’s players. I felt I had to hold back somewhat as there were kids around with their polite looking parents, plus, I was the only person watching half the game by looking through binoculars and then jumping up and down like a loony. I’d borrowed a ticket from a season ticket holder. Would he allow me to take his seat on another occasion if I’d reproduced the havoc running through my mind and body? Cussing and blinding?
There was a point when the SSFM brigade piped up. It was during one of those ‘the crowd is utterly stunned’ moments. Mr Wenger turned and shook his head in the direction of the drunken fool. A few minutes later some of the crowd in the fools section began threatening him and the approx 3 other ****s who’d chanted with him. I hope it would turn nasty.
The Ox was running riot in the first half, then a villac**t slammed into his leg. I saw that through the bino’s. It was no “accident incurred due to an innocent challenge for a 50:50 ball. It was the type of challenge inflicted regularly on Arsenal players, which coincidentally is most often not even acknowledged by the refs. Ox didn’t appear after half time, nor for the following 5 months.
When the final whistle was blown, there were boos, yes, but for whom?
As most of the crowd went away and the last of the players headed towards the tunnel, the smug git and his two cohorts also made their way off the pitch. I ran through the seats booing loudly (by my standards, and I didn’t wanna smash up my bino’s and specs).
Manys the time TV progs have portrayed booing to be directed at the players, when in fact, like that game against Moyes’s Everton, a few years back, where a blatant offside had led to a toffees goal before half time, the crowd were booing at the “officials”! On that occasion the crowd were able to see a replay due to a goal having been scored.
So yes, I do mean the ones shouting SSFM, and I include Arsenal Fan TV in amongst all the other ****s because they’re set up to look like a reasonable fan group! and yet fail to acknowledge the corruption and bad officiating that happens mainly, against Arsenal FC.
In the video below Bully acknowledges Taylor’s twisting of the game, and slagging off Arsenals players, whilst the presenter continues asking the wrong questions:

Fin, I read that 7am post and was surprised to see how freaking good Carlos vela is.
As I wrote somewhere else today, in Alexis we have finally found the player who prevents the huge drop in quality we suffer when Theo is out of the team. He’s going to fill the spot Gervinho was supposed to fill, while adding as many goals and assists as Theo does. Now that we have filled that spot, we have oodles and oodles of attacking options. Think of the possibilities we have with the likes of Poldi, Theo, Alexis, Rosicky, Ox and Santi in the squad.
