What a difference a year makes!

johnnyg86's avatar4th Place Finish

What a difference a year makes. This time a year ago Arsenal fans the world over were frustrated after a long hard fought season where we made it hard for ourselves once more and eventually managed to scraped 4th place. Manchester United had won the league and Fergie had just retired. Many Arsenal fans were debating whether or not we should part with our own iconic manager who had delivered champions league football once again but had failed to bring any trophies to the Emirates stadium. The atmosphere was pretty toxic and that didn’t get no better by the time the season started as yet again arsenal had apparently missed opportunities to sign some quality players in the transfer window and had also failed to sign a world class striker. We’d just got spanked by Villa and many were baying for blood.

Then it all changed. The notoriously tight with…

  3. Its always exciting and I am always optimistic. I am not all that bothered about who we sign or don’t sign as we have very good players, most of them young and improving. Anyone coming in would have to be exceptional to adjust the upward trajectory further toward 90 degrees.

Nevertheless if Arsene says he would like a striker then I am damned if I will see the old boy disappointed.

Signings, no signings whatever, within a few weeks the whole game will come alive, things will happen, unexpected things, some clever, some frustrating will rattle the club into full vigorous life from the Summer hibernation.

    I love it

  8. I’d like to formally apologize to my PA friends for being a huge tit for the last couple of days. I never thought Brazil were going to lose 7-1 with David Luiz as captain and main CB while in the midst of a “who is better than who” argument. When something so serendipitous happens it’s against the forces of nature to not make a big spectacle of it. Sorry. Oh, and David Luiz and Hummels are donkeys. Thanks.

Thanks for asking George. I have been busy with work and also wanted to take a break from Arsenal before the season started. That didnt stop me from reading the posts and following the comments. I guess many are taking a break.

I have a confession to make,a year ago,the negative media like talkshite, daily noise e.t.c had poisoned my brain and i had lost faith in our beloved coach and ramsey they were soon pleasantly proved wrong but never again will i loose faith.Beware of negative media biased against Arsenal who only have one agenda, whatever wenger does or does’nt do he is damned.Although i live far i am making a rallying call to all gunners in England to make a list of all products promoted by the irritating talkshite radio and when all gunners boycott those products and it really bites into their revenue, they will think twice b4 directing any undeserved critisism our way.simply put,we accept constructive critisism but critisize against any unjust critisism.

  15. Have to say that I disagree with the post today, In that it is somewhat fickle in flavour. “A year ago…” Was no different whatsoever, to my mind, than the last half dozen or so preceding years at the same time. We we’re, and remain, on course to look back in a few more years and se what our club and in the main part our manager has achieved. I need not expand much more than that, for those who know, other than to say that any signings that may or may not happen are but part of the process and no more significant than any other decision taken along the route. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts and we’re fortunate enough to have someone who knows better than any, how best to shepherd those parts.

wrong …. we should not forget the sacrifice and efforts of the hard working and paying fans on arsenal fan tv and supporters-blogs for putting the club and manager under pressure to finally spend some fucking money. Without them wed be already be in that negative spiral avb allured to….

    Whoever that is.
We have every right to feel quietly confident this season, our team are winners, some soon to be big time winners if I dare tempt faith.
We have the right manager, the squad is chest deep in talent and getting deeper, we have the stadium, the funds, a board who know they are the custodians of history and an owner who does not dick us or the club around.
Our rivals look like a bunch of spanner’s in comparison to how we have managed to weather the storm, despite some of our own (not here) being permanent seditious prats during the transition.

Just one thing. Its not a matter of this last year being the difference . THE ARSENAL have been a work In progress past few years. I believe even in those years where we lost the nucleus of our team to poachers. All left want and are honored to be at the ARSENAL. only good things can come of that.
Go ARSENE GO. just one more dm/ CB hybrid.
    Tv?? maybe.
