Supporting Arsenal is fun at the moment for all concerned. Well almost all. Those who are desperate to see the back of the manager, board, medical staff, goalkeeping coach, and Doris the tea lady excepted of course, are having a miserable time. But lets waste no time on those scoundrels.
There looks to have been a measurable improvement in our play.
Results , for the last 6 months have been nothing short of staggering, despite an injury list as long as the Great Wall of China.
We have bought in one of the worlds finest players and an old boy has returned and been a revelation.
Aaron Ramsay, a player written of by many as “not Arsenal quality” has been the stand out player in the league for was seems like a age now.
It looks like a contract extension for Arsene is no more than a formality.
Its wonderful being an Arsenal fan today. Isn’t it?
Remember this feeling when things go wrong. Because they will you know?
I cant understand why people cant always try to make the best of being a fan.
It must be better to take joy from the club, rather than wallowing in misery and self pity.
It was hard going for the team and fans alike for the past 2 seasons, Yet I loved them.
Watching the lads turn things around, fighting for every point under the most intense pressure, and securing Champions League qualification was terrific
Tomas Rosicky riding into the fray and making the difference, again a player written of as not Arsenal quality ,or deadwood, was a source of great joy to me.
I didn’t want to blame someone, anyone, everyone, for us being in that position, I just wanted to enjoy our efforts to put matters right.
After last years home defeat by the pride of German football I wrote this http://wp.me/p37nXa-4K , have a read and you can see that being optimistic is not always being blind.
Here is the blog I wrote after the Spurs defeat with 10 games left, have a look. http://wp.me/p37nXa-8b
See what I mean?
We should look forward with hope. support 100% and enjoy every moment.
Every point, every good bit of play , every bit of pleasure should be squeezed out of every game. Even the losses.
I hope fans can learn from their mistakes in the same way we want the team to learn from theirs.

The future is unknown, but the trends are clear. What fascinates me is the story (told day in day out at PosA) is still unfolding, a lot of casual commentators don’t get it, and in all essential respects is about Arsenal strengthening, in consistency, quality and a now substantive string results, at rapid pace because the foundations were put properly in place, and there is depth. The “arrival” of Serge is, for instance, notable and provided cover for the temporary absence of Ox, himself cover for Theo or Lukas. Depth. We will buy a striker in January, perhaps 20 year old Draxler from Schalke. Our injured players, Santi and Lukas, will be returning soon enough now. We have momentum.

Nice post GEORGE & also the podcast was very amusing and fun to listen to. Always grand to be around folks who enjoy the team, the efforts and the organization as I do and love. Gladly there has been only good news from the International games and our guys are doing well.
I wish the last line of your post would come true. ARSENAL would truly turn into a juggernaut of a team and we would be rocking so much ahead of schedule. i wish the fans could understand what they have been denying the team all these years. One hundred percent unconditional support to keep the team on fire and going. Hopefully the fans will improve as the rest of the team has and we will be on our way.
UP WITH THE GUNNERS OF ARSENAL!!!!!!!

please don’t bring any more manure ex-players to THE ARSENAL no matter how good they are. Bloody hate them cheats with a passion. Even more than chelski, totts & and shitty. Wouldn’t mind VELA back nor DI NATALI. drexler I haven’t watched much and surez doesn’t look like it will happen. Even if we don’t bring anyone I’ll have faith that OG and bendy and POLDI would see us through. THEO even . And we don’t even know how YAYA will do when we get him back. We have options..

thanks george, i have only read one of the articles as i’m too emotional to read the other. your kind of fan is not only positive but visionary. just as you predicted right at that period when some were crusading ‘wenger out’ or ‘end of an era’ is what we are witnessing now.
will fans ever learn? i doubt it.

i posted on aclf recently when some of them were trying to justify their constant moaning and critical stand against the manager and the players that they need to check out the meaning of supporters and detractors
support – to help or encourage sb/sth by saying or showing that you agree with them.
detractor – a person who tries to make sb/sth less good or valuable by criticizing it.
so many of the so called fans are actually detractors.

giroud is now ahead of benzema in strikers’ dept in french national team. and if reports are to be believed, we have been offered benzema at a cut prize £20m in january. how is £20m a cut prize when our giroud cost us £12m.
as things stand, benzema needs us more than we need him. the person that hold the magic of turning his game around is with us and it is up to him to do everything to beat down the price just like kaka.

drexler is good, very good. so good that he is the best player by some distance in his club and he is just 19. he has the potential to be as good as christiano ronaldo. but just as ronaldo, he is not a centre foward. if i have to choose between him and reus, i will choose reus just because reus is more of a striker than drexler. but if we do get drexler, we can just settle for poldi as alternate centre forward to giroud.

Just a measured, mature, positive post acknowledging how the tide has turned in favor of the club and its most loyal supporters. George did not have to flame anybody or blog to make the point that many of us said after the defeats to the Spuds and Bayern. Wenger’s been rebuilding for the past 2 years and this squad will be s juggernaut by 2014-15.
Zimpaul, you speak of Serge but there is Chambo coming back from injury; this would have been his breakout year I am sure. Zelalem is two years behind. If all goes well we will be an unstoppable force. Fingers crossed.

yeah, support at the time of adversity is even more priceless!
I read an article in the guardian which complained of Kronke not connecting with them, about there being 4 main arsenal supporters groups and 1 is THE BLACK SCARF MOVEMENT? Are they actually serious that such a group exist talk-less of being a MAIN supporters group?

There is a great interview with the Boss on the official site. I noted this cos i often did say that i didn’t exactly see this change in policy people always talked about this summer cos the boss has always bought players a s he saw fit. See the extract below
So is this a new policy of buying big for Arsenal?
No, the policy is exactly the same – I always want to bring the best players in here, world-class players, at the best possible price. And I want to continue to educate 60 to 80 per cent of the squad ourselves. The culture of the Club, the way we want to play football and the way we want to behave, comes from within. The Wilsheres, the Ramseys, the Gibbs – these kind of players have to be the culture of the Club. Then on top of that we want to bring world-class players who will help us to be even stronger.

I’m surprised Tony Atwood’s AISA would end up being associated in the press with the other cretins.

I have my fingers firmly crossed that everyone else will have a nice easy night tonight with, as far as I can see, just about everyone settled in their World Cup placing or not, other than Jack.
I will of course be glued to England tonight but if I had a choice of where to be tonight it would probably be at the Turkey v Holland game. I sense an incident in the making.

I see somewhere we head the injuries table in EPL, again! Well, maybe it will average out in the season going forward. Santi is obviously close now, pictures of him back to fitness training, read somewhere expects to be in contention by next weekend or so. Theo can’t be far behind. Can’t be bothered with the internationals I’m afraid. Someone wins, someone loses, life goes on.

I think we are certainly looking for the right quality of striker. I say that because after the transfer late madness had becalmed, it became clear that we had been well in for either of Ba and Eto’o, and the over-cooked Suarez and earlier Higuain huff and puff. Wenger, like some commentators I guess, must be concerned of injuries to Giroud and/or Lukas; but unlike them he is much more concerned that the quality and profile are correct, the special player who brings something extra, and so it is not flash-pan money.

But Wenger is adamant about Sanogo, and we shall see what he meant in due course.

I am guessing a few commentators or fans out there, having to backtrack on the Arsenal in crisis end-of-era narrative as manufactured, or that they fell for, now stretch this to a “be cynical, the crisis is coming” narrative. What else can they say except “I got it wrong, Wenger was working to plan, there was no crisis except the one we invented”.

I see its Cup Final week for the whiners, papers tigers, self promoters, the feckless and the self important among the Goonersphere ( the AGM is on Thursday)
“The Arsenal Independent Supporters Association, the Arsenal Supporters Trust, the Black Scarf Movement and REDaction wrote a joint letter to Kroenke last month reiterating their belief that it was important to have a dialogue with the owner. Given the lack of response, a question has been tabled on the matter at the AGM.”
A question has been ‘tabled’ eh ?

Collectively owning 0.2% of the Club , or claiming they speak on those shareholders behalf (which they don’t even) MAKES THEM FEEL IMPORTANT.
There are only 3.18% (or around 1,978) of the shares in small holders ownership, and most of these are not in the AST. In fact there are only 633 minor holders of shares.
(including Piers Morgan and Darren Dien, Euugh).
There are 850 members of the AST, it’s highly unlikely each has £20,000 share in their back pocket.
Some data is from of AngryofIslington, the rest is from Arsenal.com.

What! Do they mean to tell us that player of the calibre and reputation of Mesut Ozil was not signed in a mad trolley dash during the last ten odd days of the transfer window? Lies lies and more lies! All to help sell season tickets no doubt. *sniffs*. Not a panic buy made after another spin of the wheel of fortune at Highbury House? when we didnt have enough players in the club, some players complained of lack of ambition and trophy. now that we have great players in every position, the same players are also complaining of lack of playing time. you cant have both. all you have to do is dig in and find the best level in you to compete and get into the team. vermaelen, can you hear me? everything is not about world cup. it comes once in four year, but you have arsenal every saturday.
