Away the Boys.

The away fans are winning two-one against the miserable home support.

That’s two away games in which we have been dominant and played with everything that we want to see from our Arsenal.

Pace, fluency, penetration and creativity.

It was an outstanding performance. One that should have shut the Media up,  and malcontents alike. But will it? I doubt it very much.

I honestly believe that, if the home support were like the away fans multiplied by ten, the home of football would see the team perform at much higher levels.

It just seems to me that we are stuck in second gear at home, with the hand break welded on.

Against Fulham, some of the interchanges and close control were staggering. Not a hint of panic or fear – unlike at home where every perceived error is met with a collective sigh, if not an audible groan.

Even from my customary position of sitting in a hunched up in a little ball, looking out from between my fingers , I could see we were never anything other than totally dominant.

We saw what a fit Podolski adds to the team, when he starts.

The Goalkeeper once again reminded us that he could become or first choice for the next fifteen years.

Aaron showed that all the doubters are no more than pathetic halfwits that lack any modicum of football knowledge.

It looks to me like the fabled “double-pivot”, has morphed into a triple-pivot. Our midfield was ruthlessly efficient, both going forward and in reverse.

Fortunately, the will of the home support to win the NLD should override their will moan and actively work against the team next week.

When I say “moan and actively work against the team”, I mean just that. If Gooners cant see that the toxic atmosphere around the ground is poisoning the team and working against the club, it can only be because they are too stupid to do so.

Great result, great team, great manager great club. End of.

Come on you mighty Reds.

Instead I’ll just say well done boys and keep up the good work. I am concerned at this mini injury crisis we seem to be having though and I really hope we don’t lose Aaron for the spuds match.

  12. yeah of course damage done, but im shocked how in the face of this fact ( an acknowledgement from the very top of ref association that their member ALTERED the result of a football match with his ridiculous officiating) .

i find it funny cause our wise bloggers didnt want to focus on the ref cause it left wenger off the hook re :transfers – which was their narrative.

so…they intentionally chose to ignore what REALLY happened in favour of being complete and utter dicks to their own club.

i thought noone bigger than the club…..fans and their “opinions” included…

  14. 16 CL consecutives. I don’t follow stats, much. But is this not a record we hold jointly with only Real Madrid now?

Wide left on Sunday will be interesting, likely Santi/Tomas, not a bad move as he loves to play with Tomas, and hard to leave Tomas out of this derby. Ryo on the bench, or a Nacho/Gibbs. Midfield is a worry isn’t it, if Jack’s ankle is still troubling him and/or Aaron’s groin. It’s possible we might just see Frimpong towards the end.

  15. Watched the highlights and a very professional job – it can be difficult to know how to approach a second leg at 3-0 up but the effort was just right. Fener much better last night than the week before.

Baffled by the post match pundits and there obsession with the transfer window ” that’s what it is all about for Arsenal etc”

No Wrighty, Lee and Chiles and Townsend that is not what ‘it’ is all about – what ‘it’ is about is preparing for the NLD on Sunday with the aim of collecting maximum points. Friday is the CL draw for the group stages. There are bigger things than the incessant whine of the yellow ticker.

And on the subject of Wrighty I admire the way he is reorienting his career away from sports punditry and toward acting – all he needs is a trilby and he is a dead cert to join East Enders as Patrick Trueman’s younger brother

  16. I was thinking Nacho, Gibbs, Zimpaul. Gibbo could be our very own Garreth Bale if given a go further up the pitch. I think players who move positions up and down the wing usually do very well. I guess it comes from knowing what a defender has to take care of and anticipating when they’ll be out of position and vice versa.

Hunter, I just read the news about Anthony Taylor being dropped by the F.A.. If you think the realists and pundits are going to go back on their Arsenal crisis garbage, don’t hold your breath.

Oh and I’m loving all the doomers who were screaming bloody murder at the sight of Bacs playing at centre half, babbling like confused children. But, but, he was supposed to be shit, innit? Why isn’t he shit blog daddy? You told us we would lose if we played a RB at centre half all week. What happened?

I’m lucky I don’t live in London and have to contend with doomers who were certain Aaron Ramsey was shit. I don’t know how violent I would get if all of a sudden some asshole, who had been berating Ramsey or even booed him at the Emirates, all of a sudden turns around, with wide eyed amazement, and says, “Doh, I guess I have to eat humble pie because Ramsey is actually a good player”.

  17. Just got back from the game. Thankfully the abject performance of the home…er..crowd?..how many do you have to have to be a crowd?…was completely overshadowed by the quality performance on the pitch. The obvious observation is that our midfield is stunning, collectively and individually and that second goal was sublime.

Szez is the best keeper in the EPL now, and AWs choice of Bacary for CH was just inspired management, what a player, and a captain’s innings from Per again. Carl is growing in confidence and must be knocking on England’s door and I have a very good feeling about Nacho and Kieran playing together down the left, very good indeed. Olivier is a legend and shame about Pods but he will be back soon. Theo seems to have stepped up a gear this term and Ryo will be great once he relaxes.

Player to watch this season? Signing of the summer if we have to talk about transfers. I think he is going to be a gem. Yaya.

Boo hiss to the unsportsmanlike Fenerbarchey players.

  21. Now the doomers are using Arsene’s own signings against him. They’re using the fact that Cazorla made more than one hundred assists last season to make Arsene aware that quality gets you assists. Well no shit, that’s why Arsene bought him. He also bought him way under his real value. Something which these imbeciles don’t seem to want to acknowledge.

Interesting comments from the Cricketers. Vaughan knows.
Beats listening to another discredited hack who knows fuck all about the Game on another Arsenal podcast! Seriously what kind of plonker would run a podcast and invite a cretin on?

Speaking of which, possibly slightly too ambitious recommendations for future guests:

    Ex.Players:
    Ray Parlour
Kevin Campbell (It’d be an Exclusive!)

    Other guests:
    Mo Farah (yeah right!)
    Compton Junior the cricketer?

Not very helpful but there you go.

  32. Interesting comments from the Brazilian hack on Gustavo, telling us something that we didn’t already know about South American players: That often it is the Ensemble that decides where a player goes, not the player. i.e. said player might not have wanted to go where he went. And they say romance is dead.

As for poor Bernie, he may have wanted to come to London as alleged but it was never going to happen if he is ‘part-owned’ by someone in the shadows. That is not how club once known The Bank of England team rolls. Never has. Might change in the future but why let that get in the way of a good whinge?

  33. Flamini signed, two-year deal with option of one year extension. Good MF and fullback cover. That’s a relief especially if Ramsey and Wilshere aren’t fit for Saturday.

    @ ZimPaul
Loving your idea of Gibbs in front of Nacho, I’m sure it will happen at some stage. Much as AW used to put Eboue or Santos in that position.

    Like

  34. And Gibbs in central MF might work as well, but less likely now that Flamini is back. He’s younger than I thought, 29 – same as Bacary.

    Like

  35. Fun, When Gibbs was in the youth team he was a left sided midfielder and it was only with his move to he first team that he was moved to left back. He certainly has the footballing talent to play further forward as and when required. He has however worked hard at mastering the left back spot and in games where more attacking flair are required from that position he has better instincts than the more defensively minded Nacho.

I see the CL draw is today, 4.45 UK time, and not tomorrow as I incorrectly stated yesterday.

Is it just me or has the overall quality of the sides in the four ‘pots’ gone up this season ? There appears to be the potential for at least two or even three groups with three really good sides in them – and whichever balls are pulled from the hat Citeh look to be in danger of another hiding.

@ anicoll, I knew that about Gibbs, that’s why I felt it could work. And agree that the other teams we could meet in the CL look rather good. Gulp.

  40. This obsession about spending money is crazy. On Twitter, loads of people are complaining about the Flamini signing because he was a free agent. It’s almost like a player isn’t “good”, unless he has a price tag attached.

Personally, I am very happy about the Flamini signing. I think he has learned his lesson at AC Milan and I hope he still remembers one or two things about Wengerball. At 29, he still has some good years ahead of him and I feel that he is definitely an improvement for us, especially with Coquelin out on loan.
