Away the Boys.

The away fans are winning two-one against the miserable home support.

That’s two away games in which we have been dominant and played with everything that we want to see from our Arsenal.

Pace, fluency, penetration and creativity.

It was an outstanding performance. One that should have shut the Media up,  and malcontents alike. But will it? I doubt it very much.

I honestly believe that, if the home support were like the away fans multiplied by ten, the home of football would see the team perform at much higher levels.

It just seems to me that we are stuck in second gear at home, with the hand break welded on.

Against Fulham, some of the interchanges and close control were staggering. Not a hint of panic or fear – unlike at home where every perceived error is met with a collective sigh, if not an audible groan.

Even from my customary position of sitting in a hunched up in a little ball, looking out from between my fingers , I could see we were never anything other than totally dominant.

We saw what a fit Podolski adds to the team, when he starts.

The Goalkeeper once again reminded us that he could become or first choice for the next fifteen years.

Aaron showed that all the doubters are no more than pathetic halfwits that lack any modicum of football knowledge.

It looks to me like the fabled “double-pivot”, has morphed into a triple-pivot. Our midfield was ruthlessly efficient, both going forward and in reverse.

Fortunately, the will of the home support to win the NLD should override their will moan and actively work against the team next week.

When I say “moan and actively work against the team”, I mean just that. If Gooners cant see that the toxic atmosphere around the ground is poisoning the team and working against the club, it can only be because they are too stupid to do so.

Great result, great team, great manager great club. End of.

Come on you mighty Reds.

  1. This “some of the interchanges and close control were staggering.” I thought as I watched the boys pinging close fast passes at each other on the edge of our own area on a slippery flooded pitch surrounded by the opposition. Incredible nerve, composure, skill and faith in each other. One attack down the right began in defence on the left with the most ridiculous interchange of passing in a tight pressure situation.
Now imagine that working with half a stadium groaning and yelling at you to get rid, panicking and flapping their sphincters.

  3. Very nice George. I just hope this is the end of it. End of the hurt and abuse hurled against the manager that is indirectly paralyzing the team with self doubt and fear. It also indirectly disrespects the board and the organization we all love and admire.
All in all it so very immature and stupid to hurt you own cause at the starting line. As I have said countless times before it’s counterproductive and self defeating.
I hope the culprits soon see this and stop these childlike reactions to occasional set backs all teams suffer from time to time. This in turn will unit the support behind the team and their full potential can be realized. We still have one of the best ( nay , the best ) organizations, manager ,team , stadium, history, tradition in the world. Lets celebrate their achievements in unison therefore shutting the door in the face of our retractors and those who would love to see us fail. A house divided invite the media vultures in to rip into us for any perceived weakness.make no mistake about it. OUR LADS HAVE ENOUGH DIFFICULTIES IN FACING ALL THE HURDLES IN THEIR WAY TO ACHIEVE THEIR GOALS
lets not make their task even more difficult by creating distractions off the field. Help them instead of weighing them with more issues to face. ITS THE LEAST YOU CAN DO..
other wise you are playing into the hands of the Uzbek, the media and any other entity wishing your team and club I’ll.
Is there anything more asinine than that.
And you do, then do not consider yourself a supporter and a friend of the club. I hope each an every one us can chose wisely and one day soon we will all yell a rebels yell :
UP WITH THE GUNNERS OF ARSENAL!!!!!!!!!!!
    ARSENAL!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Great, succinct and accurate post PG.

During discussions about transfers and whether they need Cabaye one pundit on the Sunday Supplement described the Arsenal midfield yesterday as ‘absolutely fantastic’ and ‘absolutely, completely destroyed Fulham, dominated the game, their forward movement, clever touch play, their link up play, the way they counter-attacked Fulham was just breathtaking”. So, we don’t needma Cabaye but we need strengthening in other departments. Good. We are in agreement then.

  5. GP I think the gaffer said he was after another midfielder in the post match interview.

I’ve been saying for years that Bacary Moore Sagna should be given a go as an auxiliary CB. But Wenger, along with all the other managers, he never listens to me *sobs*.
I’m one of those who would not cry if a paper thin (cracks everywhere!) squad resulted in a pairing of Kozza and Bacca. But Per, he was good too eh? I thought his passing was better from LCB? That could be bullgr*t, I’ll just have to watch the game again at some point. It’s hard being an Arsenal fan during these bad times : )

  8. Yesterday I caught half the game on the radio and the second half on the tv and was amazed how well we played especially given the conditions.

The groans at the Emirates have been audible for years now; I put it down to the heightened sense of expectations of an end-result to any given move as being the cause. It’s such exciting play that when it sometimes doesn’t work out it’s natural to express a degree of disappointment. Of course, there is a world of difference between that and the malicious noises that emanate from sections of the ground when a player selected for crowd-bullying gives ‘opportunity’ for abuse. To what extent the former sound is debilitating for the players only the players themselves could possibly tell us. The destructive qualities of the latter must surely be self-evident to even the least aware of fans.

Great posts today from George, yesterday from Steww and also Muppet from a couple of days back – sorry to not have been able to comment at the time.

  9. From the arrogant ANR blog where they can easily find top class players for Arsenal, e following suggestion:

“Vlad Chiriches – not hard to find a CB”

And a comment from the biggest ego to grace the blogosphere:

“Vlad wouldn’t fit in at Arsenal because he passes the ball more than 10 yards.”

This is the sage that predicted that Henry was not a striker….

Hopefully by the next match Arsene would have bought at least one ‘name’ to temporarily distract the babies and we might get a game where the home ‘support’ actually live up to the job description.

  11. A call to arms by PG, throwing down the gauntlet to supporters who attend games. Given our relatively minuscule readership, I hope we can attract like-minded bloggers and tweeters to repeat this message. This blog is not merely us beating our chest as positive supporters but trying to influence like minded bloggers and fans. The media and the big AFC blogs who prey on the emotions of fickle fans have enormous advantages over us.

PS: I agree with Mickey Finn’s post earlier that we need to quit this childish baiting of ACLF. At the minimum, given that is where the majority of us originated, show YW some respect. We simply disagree profoundly about his editorial line, particularly about the manager. That is life. Let us move on.

It remains a fact that the majority do not wish ill on Arsene, nor hurl abuse, nor boo, nor jeer.

What happens at the Emirates I see much akin to Austin Powers “mole”. Put it into perspective and see it for what it is… a tiny part of the whole. The Media, who generally all seem to have sold their souls in a feeble attempt to garner love, are like all the characters who can’t see the face for the mole. They bring it to the attention of others who also only see the mole.

    Ignore that mole! I say.

  14. Good catch on the triple pivot in midfield, George. I believe the reason the team looked so fluid is because the midfield was able to link the defence to the attack by getting into spaces which Fulham didn’t know how to fill. Throughout the game I saw all three of Santi, Aaron and Tomàš drop back in order to receive from the CB. This pulled Parker and Sidwell out of position, which left huge gaps open for the three midfields to run into.

I also noticed that we were creating goal opportunities from much, much deeper. We didn’t get up the pitch and pass it around the opposition penalty area like we usually do. For the second goal, Ramsey put Theo through with a pass from a few yards away from the centre circle. Santi was finding Gibbs and Poldi from similar areas as well. Thanks to this we pinned Fulham back both territorially and psychologically. Reither and Riise, who are usually very good at going forward, were barely mentiothe all game. Pinning teams back ths way is why a triple pivot works better than two creative players and one destroyer, when it comes to teams like Fulham.

  15. I doubt the doomers will notice how the loss of Vincent Kompany leaves City with Javi Martinez at CB even thoufh they got their business done super early. Them bitching about Bacary Koeman playing at CB being representative of a lack of preparation on the part of Arsene flies in the face of his ability to pick players who are very good at more than one position. I mean, not too long ago we had a young man from the Ivory Coast who began his Arsenal career as a right winger and ended up being one of the best CBs in the league. He even played for a team which went a whole season unbeaten and even broke the CL defensive record the season we went to the finals. I think his name is Kilo or Koala or something like that.

Just look at the base of this team:

    Szczesny, Fabby

    Nacho, Gibbsy

    BFG, Kosher, Vermaelen

    Bacary Passarella, Jenks

    Rosicky, Arteta, Wilshere, Ramsey, Santi

    Theo, Gnabry

    Poldi, Oxlade Chamberlain

    Giroud.

I think we’re light a winger and a striker which matches Giroud’s quality. And as much as the doomers like to shit on the idea of Flamini coming on a free, I think he would solve many tactical problems which may appear during the season. All in all, we don’t need any panic buys. We have an excellent squad.

no its not that. but i do find it peculiar that our support is called blind when it is verified by 17 years of pretty excellent wenger management. trophies, stadiums and always at the top and loses only from those who spend more.

plus i dont get how some expect to be left off the hook when the last 3 years constantly undermine wenger’s authority on football and call him past it and incompetent.

a person holding such a ridiculous opinion is a fucking dumb@rse and i dont see why he shouldnt be aware that he is a dumb@rse.

also, just like i like saying fuck you to spurs fan busting our balls about finishing above us yet they always fail…. likewise i want to say a fuck you to all the moaning twats who attack the CLUB because emotionally they cant be patient or show understanding to what weve been trying to do.

apparently wenger should abandon his operational methods in order to accomodate for the vanity of the bloggers and fans…..

like me driving the car the last 40 years and having no accidents and then having a person who aint even got a driving licence telling me to watch the road and that i aint driving properly …. and i cant tell him to shut up or that he is wrong because apparently he has the freedom of his opinion….no matter how absurd.

  29. So Arsene, not George, not Positively Arsenal, believes:
“The media in general has brainwashed a little bit the Emirates. Maybe rightly so, I don’t know, because we haven’t won trophies for years everything is negative. But we have to live with that and focus on playing well football.

“We lost one game since the beginning of March. That’s why it was a shock. But we won in the Champions League at Bayern Munich. We won at Fenerbahce. It is just like that at the moment. People always want news. We live in a world which is very interesting but very excessive. When people are not loyal, you are critical. When people are loyal, you say they have been there too long. It’s always excessive reaction. The people in charge need to keep their distance from that more than ever.

“Someone told me I have had 956 games for Arsenal. I care about this club and when we had last week’s result I was deeply disappointed. This is not a personal trip. This is about doing things well for the club I love and I am happy we are back on track.”

Everyone of these things George alluded to in his blog. As I said earlier let us focus on winning more allies rather than become distracted by the fickle weak kneed moaners.

They are a bunch of money whores who couldn’t find Manchester on a map of England. The players live somewhere in Cheshire and are picked up at a hotel before the matches. The really don’t know where eastlands is.
Why would they give two chits about that club, winning or loosing. Just pick up the big wages?

They didn’t plan on Kompany being crocked and got rid of Kolo, which is something that can happen to anyone. However, we were getting shit for the thinness of our squad and we have more than adequate cover at CB. I hate the double standards.

There is definitely been a bit of brainwashing with the fans as well. Instead of standing up to the media and fans of other clubs they simply bend over.

And for that reason it’s all gotten out of control. I also hope Wenger can bring in some excellent signings to fill out the squad. I personally don’t think we need a “marquee” signing just excellent professionals to add to the squad in case of injuries and fatigue.

And they only got gazumped by a gas club a week before the deadline on the big one they wanted to replace their best player. Arsenal have never been gas-zumped (boom boom!), nope.

Even though I think and talk and write about transfers every second of every day I also have no idea what difference CL qualification may mean to the to the players or the accountants (no, not AW and as our helpful guide through exciting paperwork NotOverTheHill has clarified, if it wasnt obvious already, certainly not the AST or the rambling rambler). For some, it does seem that us winning and playing well doesn’t matter at all, as long as we haven’t spent 80 million in the summer. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying our last two games and believe our start to the season was a blip (made possible by Mr. Taylor). And I am confident that we will see another decent performance mid-week before it will be classy Arsenal vs. free-spending noisy neighbours at the weekend, with us the victors. Lots to be excited and happy about as an Arsenal fan. I wish people would worry less about transfers, that’s for the manager and the team behind the scenes to do, and instead just enjoy what our team is delivering.
