Hello and welcome to this week’s round-up.
First up this week is the long-overdue apology from Arsene Wenger in a meeting with the press last week. In addressing Roy Hodgson’s comments on the lack of English talent in the English top-flight, Wenger, although feigning sympathy for the England manager’s woes, went on to boastfully list the wealth of English stars at Arsenal. The Gunners’ boss, in typical galling fashion, then moved to distance himself from any responsibility for the nationality of Aaron Ramsey. “It is not my fault if Ramsey is Welsh”, said the smug manager. While an admission of guilt and an apology would appease the average supporter, the more passionate and loyal fans, knows as Gooners, will undoubtedly call for the manager’s resignation for this kind of negligence.
Staying with Ramsey, he has done an interview with Arsenal Player. The unfortunately Welsh midfielder attributes his rich vein of form to playing consistently in his most natural position. Having ironed out the inevitable creases following the reinstallation of his leg, Ramsey can continue to leave the most astute observers with egg on their faces.
Jack Wilshere has been nominated for the Young Gareth Bale of the Year Award. Jack is up against Danny Welbeck, Eden Hazard, Christian Benteke, Romelu Lukaku and Gareth Bale. With Gareth Bale also being nominated for the Gareth Bale of the Year Award, there are signs the Gareth Bale could scoop both the young Gareth Bale of the Year Award and the Gareth Bale of the Year Award at this year’s ceremony. This is written in the understanding that repeatedly mentioning Gareth Bale gets you a job in media. Gareth Bale.
It was that time of year again as many Arsenal fans sailed west to the murky shores of Fulham. After twelve minutes of chasing the ball, Steve Sidwelled Arteta and got himself sent off. Arsenal controlled the majority of the game but failed to really upset Fulham’s defence. Theo Walcott’s best contributions came in the form of free-kick deliveries and it was one of these which found Koscielny at the back post who, I’m saying intentionally, nodded the ball across to Mertesacker, who in turn headed home. 1-0 to The Arsenal! Following some amount of relatively uneventful time, Olivier Giroud received a red card for going over the top of the ball in an attempt to trap it. It wasn’t malicious, and it was nothing like that prick Sidwell’s, but he caught the guy and it was a red card. Replays show that he slipped but the FA say that nobody gives a shit and he will serve a three match ban.
With our next opponents having secured the title in previous game, there has been a lot of talk about giving them a guard of obligation. If one were inclined to remove half of Arsene Wenger’s quotes on the issue of respecting their number 20, an exciting level of ambiguity can be achieved. “As a champion or not as a champion, it’s [his reception] the same.” In other words, make him wish he was back in the sanctuary his old treatment room. This is Arsenal vs. Manchester United and it is the game I have been waiting for all season.
And finally! Love has blossomed at Arsenal and communication is key. This is, of course, Laurent Koscielny’s interview with Arsenal player where he gets a bit mushy about his new centre-back partnership. Per, which rhymes with bear, is the more experienced of the two but this is a huge positive for the international player. “His experience is vital and that helps us work together. We try and talk to each other a lot and it is important at the back to have a good understanding.” I’m probably not alone in thinking that they can do what they like as long as there are clean sheets at the end of each week.
That’s all for this week, thanks for reading.
Up the Arsenal!
Nice write up. However writing positively about Arsenal probably disqualifies you from a job in the media. I hope thats not to negative. However keep it up.

Your usual quality round up B7 and you are right to mention Theo’s much better dead ball use at Fulham which did not get much comment in the relief felt at collecting the three points.
Looking forward to Sunday muchely and to seeing Poldi fits in as the tip of the spear ( as I hope is the striking set up)

Funny round up.
You are right, it is one of our matches of the season.
If the guys dont play with fear/within themselves, manure can be swatted away.

Great stuff Bradeyesque.
You need more of a shovel to get rid of Manure really. And then a good hose down to make sure there are no lingering residues.
Should be a cracking game. Some guy who I’m told used to play for us is returning with his new dad, and they are having a guard of honour or summat, but I don’t know what that’s all about. Good luck to them I say. It’s just another game for us, and I’m positive if the players show the right attitude, we can leave them with a metaphorical bloody nose and get the all important three points. Hurrah. This team they are facing is made of sterner stuff than the shadow of a one they brushed past earlier in the season.

hello everyone.
george, sorry i couldnt respond to your question yesterday as to how i found my way from being a chav to being a gunner. it wasnt that difficult because it is always easy to see the light when you have spend sometime wandering in the dark. i think i will reserve that for another day. but one of the reason i have remain a gunner is arsene. the humiliation he was contantly made to face in england. the hatred from other mangers and the media and his unwavering loyalty to arsenal.
i remember the eve of our champions league final match against barca, alan carbushley, after saying lots of ignoble things about wenger and arsenal for not having enough english players in the team. he was asked which team he would support in the final, his reply was ‘ i will support the french team’. this coming from a manager of a premier league club at the time. if that was not racism then, i dont know what it is.
up till today i dont think he was ever reprimanded for saying such a thing about a club in the premier league who obviously has not broken any law or rules of the league. i dont hear anybody saying that about newcastle now.

i have always like walcott to take set pieces. corner kicks of free kicks. he is also a good pen taker. i think we will do well if we develop him further in it. after all, henry is his role model. he has got 3 assist this season directly from corner kicks.

True layksite. The return of the prodigal skunk and the ensuing guard of honour sideshow risks obscuring the only thing that’s important to us: points. Get all the other stuff out of the way, pay due respect or just do nothing, and then get loudly behind the team and the manager. I’m confident we can turn them over,

Harry, layksite (and probaby everybody on PA) do get it. All we care for on Sunday is the 3 points. Top-4 is our goal as we rebuild for the future. Guard of honor, VanPenis, Red Nose et al are all distractions. We need to be marching in the right direction, back to the top.

Excellent number 7!, George-everyone’s knows better than AW,my current favourites are the “I’ll give him one more year but if we don’t win a trophy next season….” brigade, oh that’s really good of you, what a great person you are letting him have one more year, I mean what has he ever (along with the Romans) ever done for us?

there is a report on caughtoffside that arsenal has agreed a deal of £24m with fiorentina and also a personal term with jovetic for a transfer to arsenal. i know that caughtoffside are most of the time offside with there report but if it is close to being true, it is a welcome development. personally i will want a different kind of striker, buy if wenger says that is what we need, then that is it.

Because someone appears to be a certain type of player when Arsene buys him ,it does not follow that they will remain that type of player once he has him under his wing.

You out do yourself Gareth bale. I’m also of the opinion that Gareth bale will clean up both awards this season as he clearly deserves and the rest of the Gareth bales have no chance going up against Gareth bale . He is a colossal football talent and I think much more deserveing than manure for the guard of dishonour this weekend. Go go Gareth.

I would not mind having Christian Benteke as back up for Oli Giroud next season. The boy bullies defenders for fun. He has been this year’s Demba Ba.
Mario Goetze is a good player, but I prefer Jack and Aaron. And no, I’m not looking through Arsenal colored glasses. These two boys are the future best midfielders of Europe.
I abhor the bastard who said Theo doesn’t have a football brain. Theo does too have a football brain, the thing is he tries to do everything at the speed of light and it doesn’t always come off as he intends.

the reason i said iwant us to get a different player than jovetic is the way he is being called the ‘new van persie’. we all know what walcott want through because he is suppose to be the new henry. same for ramsey who is the next fabregas. diaby ?
giroud has come in and done well in his first season but some are still not happy.

Our players should form a Guard of Honesty on the other side of the pitch from the tunnel so that the Mancs have to walk towards our fans…one by one. Total disrespect is required,
This ‘honour’ thing is a load of jingoistic bollocks. I absolutely fucking hate the Mancs and I am not prepared to pretend otherwise. That would be a lie. It is better to be honest than to be honourable.

Yes I did. Not very effective but I also remember how many times he has bailed the blue mancs of the bench. He is a confidence player and needs affirmation. A bit like 3Gs in that respect. I just hate to see great talent rot on the bench 70% of the time.

A typical dirty deed by Bayern to shaft Dortmund in public just hours before their CL semi against Real. No wonder they are called the manure of Germany.
Goetze to Munich for £32m was always going to be out of our price range.
Le Wand Dow ski looks shit hot tonight, he too wants out of Dortmund but he won’t be coming to AFC.
Goonerkam – I’ll be happy to let the Boss pick the new players this summer (we don’t need that much by the way!), and as usual will be delighted with what he finds. Another Cazorla? A Rambo? An Ox? yeah Wenger’s really lost his touch… FFS.
I want players who are proud to wear the shirt, and we have a lot of those left. The ones who don’t care or see greener pastures can fuck right off. Are you listening Alex Song?
