Bradesque7’s Weekly Round Up

Hello and welcome to this week’s news round up.

First up is transfer activity. Andre Santos has moved back into his parents’ basement after his travels across Europe ended in tears. Having found himself in trouble with the police in London, he is believed to be “grounded for a year”. Santos will only be allowed out for football practice with local side Gremio.

santos gremioArsenal player of the month award was given out this month to Le Flop himself, Olivier Giroud. This was a typically kind gesture from the Arsenal faithful to rally around a player who is failing so miserably. We can only hope that the manager will listen to the experts when buying players in future.

Giroud EA POTM Jan 2013The goal of the month award for January went to Lukas Podolski. There were several strong contenders such as the Gibbs volley against Swansea or the fantastic team goal against West Ham which was finished off by Cazorla. The fans have opted for Podolski’s, frankly dangerous, hammer-blow from distance.

Sunderland away was the game on Saturday and Arsenal had several thousand chances to let us have that extra year on our lives back. Santi Cazorla got the only goal in a game where we could have romped home. Chances were spurned and tension built but Arsenal hung on to claim the three points. One has to feel for the Sunderland players as they faced the Wenger’s hatchet men in a game that saw the Gunners throw themselves to the ground and cheat their way to three points. One of the Arsenal assassins actually had himself sent off on two counts of assault. The FA must surely clamp down.

Arsene Wenger has called for blood testing to be introduced to the English game. This comes in the wake of allegations made about Spanish Doctor Fuentes who has been juicing Spanish athletes since Pep was a lad. Some resistance is expected as certain Stoke players are said to be reluctant to reveal their DNA code.

Bacary Sagna spoke to Arsenal player about returning the balance to our defence this week. Perhaps not the wisest choice of words, considering how Liverpool’s first goal came about last week. It has been decided that Sagna is past his best and it’s hard to see how he can come back from an error like that. Fortunately, the vastly superior Jenkinson was on hand to take over the right-back spot for the Sunderland game. There is no doubt that Sagna would have blown it for us.

So next we have what might become known as the meerkat’s derby as Blackburn Rovers visit for the FA Cup tie next weekend. There will be stowaways on the bus and they will be furry. Watch out Gooners, they bite!

That is all from me for another week, thank you for reading.
Up the Arsenal.

  1. Excellent Bradesque; you’ve got those ‘under-performers’ and the ‘not-fit-to-wear-the-shirts’ bang to rights!

    That was some strike by Pod – surprised the ref didn’t rule it out for dangerous play.

    Nice to know there is hope yet for Giroud, though I still think for the money we are paying we should expect a MINIMUM of a weekly hat-trick from Walcott who is clearly starting to coast a bit.

    Wenger really needs to get on and get that dressing room motivated in my super-inflated, ludicrously ill-thought out opinion.

  4. I think we’ll get rid of a lot of dead weight this summer. I can see, Squil, Fabianski, Sagna, Vermealen, Diaby, Rosicky, Walcott, Ramsey, Denilson, Chamack, Gervinho, Giroud all going. If we sold them it would give us £5408,7435698,72,354.99 and £17bn in wages. We would only need Falcao and Neymar. We could probably afford to get in Fellaini too.

    Did I mention getting rid of Diaby – yeah especially him.

  5. haha parents basement !! and yeah i vote for poldi’s goal too. weve missed that fora while…someone who can stick it in the net from 25mtrs distance. ah my poor valencia…i was routing for ernesto valverde if anyone remembers his olympiacos gave us a tough time two years ago, when ox scored in his debut.. but he was up against a superior manager far more experienced and a gigantic gap in roster quality/value. who knows , maybe a late goal and ibra;s red can be taken as an advantage for the second leg. psg …i had no idea they also got alex and lavezzi…
    as for the italian reservoir dogs, so cunnning so clinical, so experienced, very cold and pro, conte the boss and players who know their roles. serious opponent.

  6. We are doomed, doomed I tell yah. 5th and only 4 points behind Sp*rs. At this rate Wenger will make no big signings in the summer. Did I say doomed?
    Thanks Bradyesque for geeting my juices going. 🙂

  9. Have to say I like that super quick Brazilian fellow for PSG. He’s quick!
    And I’m glad he won’t be playing for the cheatin’ mancs for the next decade or so. Instead they bought The Joker, good luck to them.
    Speaking of which Alonso and Pepe with a cheeky tap or two this evening? They are at home! The much lauded Maureen once tried to play Pepe in midfield against the barcaholes in an attempt to kick them off the park. It failed. But that is no reason why the great man* should not attempt something similar tonight. We can but hope and pray.

    *For a great manager he has an unflattering record of losing the dressing room. At two clubs? But hey, at least Essien gets to be with his ‘Father’. The manager who turned him into a crock! One reason a fair few players have fallen out with Maureen is because he’s a bit of a twat when it comes to injuries.

    for some strange reason i see the good arsenal fans hesitating in calling the negatives out and isolating them and humiliating them…i dont understand this allowance to tw@ts to talk negatively about the club constantly without retribution

    it is allowed under the concept of “freedom to critisise” ……. thats bollocks…..

    he says today ” but if your opinion makes you look like a drooling hypocritical moron then perhaps it’s best to keep it to yourself.” in reference to barton but it SHOULD applie to some of our “fans” too.

    so why not take them bitching morons to task wherever we find them?

    RASERS damnit.

  12. George @ 11:08 – I read Arseblog earlier and he did echo much of the sentiments we have expressed here at PA since you commenced. I was beginning to wonder. Thanks for the confirmation. I have ripped him in the past (those long-ago blog wars) but, give him credit, he is well known for his support of new Arsenal blogs especially those with something to offer. His support is welcome. Tells you and Adi, this blog serves a need.

    “Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
    where there is injury, pardon;
    where there is doubt, faith;
    where there is despair, hope;
    where there is darkness, light;
    and where there is sadness, joy.

    And on the other side there is a lot of darkness, doubt and sadness 🙂

  21. One voted for Gibbsy not the Gerry winger. Despite one’s close ties with the Hun what with one’s family being mainly descended from Germans, but Phillip (who supports Galatasary – go figure – as my colonials like to say) preferred Santi’s clever little flick. But then he called him a dodgy dago so that spoilt it somewhat.
    Anyway, carry on being Positive, one is behind you all.

  23. Dups – So I see we have returned to that old hobby horse, replacing Arsene Wenger. Such a topic is sure to unite our supporters especially the fence sitters who have been so doubtful about the quality of our new signings despite their latter day “surprise” with how the team has improved. Poor old Anicoll.
