This is the inaugural Bradyesque7 weekly Arsenal round-up. The only place to get your Arsenal both rounded and upped.
First up is the arrival of Nacho Monreal on Sky Sports Deadline Day. Monreal was destined to be a professional footballer. His father, a huge supporter of their hometown club, in Spain, is believed to have pleaded with his wife to allow him to call their son Nacho which is, of course, the Spanish word for match.
The fees paid for players such as Monreal are rarely confirmed by the club but, if reports are to be believed, we paid every figure between eight and twelve million for Nacho and almost certainly a little more and a bit less for Olivier Giroud in the summer.
Strikers and defensive midfielders may have been on the top of everyone’s wish list, but the second most important day of the football calendar came and went with only one player arriving.
HRH Lord David Beckham trained for a day. Arsene Wenger joked that one day in training with Arsenal was enough for Beckham to regain fitness and be snapped up by PSG. The medical team are said to be having it engraved onto a plaque.
We drew 2-2 with Liverpool this week in a belter of a game. There were thrills and spills and there were defensive howlers, which are spills. We went two goals down and the defending was pretty, pretty poor. Brazilian party animal, Andre Santos, was at fault for both goals. In possession, for both halves, Arsenal were terrific. Some might say the best football we’ve played all year. Other might say that trying to make a big statement because it’s the INAUGURAL BRADYESQUE7 WEEKLY ROUND-UP is pathetic.
Giroud’s fantastic debut season shows no sign of relenting as he continued his scoring run this week. Potency which can only be rivaled by Giroud himself, but in smaller, greener shorts.
Steve Bould may have fixed our problems at the beginning of the season but we’re conceding again. Some of the goals probably were preventable and we possibly could have gone on to win more points. As far as I can see, the problems seem to stem from two issues; tactical errors and individual mistakes. However, it can’t be ignored that we have been unfortunate from time to time too. Pinpointing that particular problem has probably been your highlight so far and you’re welcome to that.
The weekend brought a return to the bygone days of ‘1-0 to the Arsenal’ as Stoke City visited the Grove. Several impressive saves from Begovic kept the scores level for 78 minutes and proved what we’re all thinking; They do have six fingers!!! Santi Cazrorla and Lukas Podolski were introduced and the game was up for the tiring, Cleetuses. Podolski aimed his free-kick off the knee of a Stokel and cleverly wrong-footed the digitally enhanced Begovic. The game was over, the war was won and the sheet was clean. We got our Arsenal back???
And finally, Liam Brady has agreed to become Head of Youth Development at Juventus in 2014. Brady has given over twenty years service to the Gunners and is probably going to remain involved with the club. Arsenal are believed to have begun the search for Brady’s successor. Some new guy will be tasked with “building on what Liam and his team have created”. Good luck with that dude.
Regardless of what you may think, that is everything that happened in the last few days.
Thank you for reading.

liam brady confirms he is not leaving ARSENAL he is just taking up a different position

lol evil..ive just looked a bit there and couldnt stop laughing with the commentator who dismisses any ideas or talks about corruption in the english football system while using the “leprichon” arguement , yet a few minutes later he agrees with anicl about fat cats protecting their pies. how can he accept the latter without akcnowledging the former?
hey george..sorry if i come out as anti, but when the english football establishment stops being anti-arsenal i will reconsider…as long as they try to find ways to knock us off our stride i view them as an enemy…. the media and the refs mocking arsenal’s right to an equal and fair competition on the pitch strentghtens my case.
there is little sympathy i can have for the barbarians represented by pulis allerdyce fergie brown hughes dowd dean riley and a host of other cunts in the media and talkshows ALWAYS seeking to stick the knife in to a club that has come out requesting patience since 2006.
i have little sympathy for the morons who put arsenal ( with an average summer budget of 15m per from 06 till 10) in the same category as the three other clubs who operate on ten times that figure.
i refuse to get into debates with idiots who cant see that united chelsea and city spend specifically to win titles while arsenal spends just enough to make it to financially rewarding positions till they clear off the stadium debt.
i also have little sympathy for the other morons who thought arsenal was milan or real madrid before wenger;s arrival and cry about trophyless years ever since 2007-08 , just two years after our first ever appearance in a champions league final.
it might come out as anti-english but it i see it as pro-arsenal. arsenal as zimpaul correctly said a few days ago has grown and escaped the norms of traditional english football. we are no longer just another club in london with our sporadic titles across 100 years, we are a global force now and as such we must view arsenal matters with an international eye and not the limited eye of the local. arsenal has put the trophy statistci on hold for a while till its sorts out its infrastructure, its so bloody simple.
arsenal is doing something very logical and straight forward considering its past and its resources. i find it completely irrational and insulting that english arsenal fans would turn against wenger after what he has done for this club. and sometimes i am too harsh i admit…but im sick of it george..im sick of them all….
feyenord and eindhoven are fierce rivals…when we playd barca at nou camp (with bousaka giving red to robin) they were sitting next to eachother, they claimed they came to see ” two proper football sides, play proper football”
it might sound simple or even a non-matter for the average gunner, but to me such words fill me with immense pride.

when marco van basten talks with such positivity about arsenal….who are the english reporters to knock us down?
why isnt the arsenal fan taking the media to task with their constant b/s ? why arent the arsenal blogs doing something about it instead of following pierced organ?
because the groups of fans with most influence are a bunch of retards like the ast who have suddenly acquired the role of income controller and inquisitor………. and/or because the blogs with influnece amongst support have passed the point of being profit-less informative outlets and are companies now associated with companies of the press industry and follow the commercial line…..
whatever sells i guess

I think it’s down to a certain narrative that’s locked into some of the poster’s brains: when we lose or draw it’s always down to the team or Wenger, irrespective of outside influences and if you disagree with that, you are only looking for excuses. So, if we lose a game due to a clear offside goal, or a foul being missed in the build-up of a goal, or a penalty dive etc., it’s not alright to point that out.
Instead, those posters will talk about how we should have scored 2 in reply, how Wenger should have made this and that substitution, how some of the players quality was lacking, etc., simply looking for any explanation but the most obvious one: that a massive decision went against us and that decided the game.
It all boils down to the point where certain people will even refuse that a wrong decision will have had much influence on the match, just so they can peddle their agenda about the players not being good enough (-> we need signings) or Wenger having made the wrong decisions (-> we need a new manager).

well evil i suppose those who talk like that have never kicked a ball in their lives even at amateur level. result altering decissions can send you mad. it takes special characters to rise above it and respond. gerrard coulndt do it even in his prime..yet arsenal fans wanted cesc and clichy to do it as early as 20 and 21….. not even drogba could rise above it, a beast of a character.
they seem to accept that the errors of a ref are part and parcel of the game. to a point i agree but what we see with arsenal is something totally different. i see a systematic bias against arsenal. whenther its manifested with reds on vieira or allowing shawcross to remain on the pitch after his tackle on konscielny is irrelevant. it still happens.
whenever arsenal is on the ropes the ref will smile and add to the pain with a non existant penalty or cancelling one of our legitimate goals….just this week the linesman wanted to cancel podolski;s goal….that stupid feasant looking cunt…
remember that lambert chap ? cant the fa find better? i thought collina was teaching them

I think Arteta should be captain. Not having a hair out of place when you’ve just been punched by Michael Owen (even if it was a pathetic punch) demonstrates the unflappability of the man. Neither TV nor JW has enough cool to do a proper job of it. We need somebody who doesn’t react angrily/emotionally, but can think.

I stick my neck out with Anicoll and say Aaron could be future captain, although Wenger has said it’s gonna be Jack one day (which makes me understand he doesn’t give it all that much importance). Aaron has it. Blood and guts with a broken foot to show for it, work ethic, discipline. In time, his natural skill will show through, it’s still not quite 100% where it was; he will mature and looks a natural leader, he will probably become a regular on the team sheet, holding the base of the midfield. He is still young.
As for Hunter’s British versus … argument, it’s something that riles some English people some of the time. But mostly the English people especially in London, if not quite the English establishment and old money, have made their peace with their country’s past, rejecting racism and national bigotry out of hand, but not all have or at least not all the way. So, it rears its head in the football establishment and some fans; I have no doubt that Arsenal has seen some backlash of being “not English enough” in the past. As an aside, the most popular Arsenal players currently where I live are English players, especially Theo and Jack. That is because they are exciting to watch.

I’m very happy that we signed Nacho. I know he’s only played one game for us, but something tells me he’s going to be a left footed Sagna.
One of the most pivotal events of the week-end was that idiot Popov spitting at Kyle Walker. Had he kept his saliva in his mouth, Spuds would’ve at least drawn against West Brom and the gap would’ve been two points.

Owen really should have been sent off for that such a sissy half-punch. Not only did he not connect properly first time, but he tried again and failed. Serves him right I say for landing up at Stoke, of all places.

Big up Ninja George for creating this blog. I am so happy that I get to chat about Arsenal with the likes of him, Steww, Shotta, Paul N, Frank, Andrew and other positive sorts who prefer to talk about what happens on the pitch instead of moaning endlessly if Gervinho misses a sitter.

PaulN, name one goal, just one this season, if you can, that was not Santos’ fault. Always in the wrong position to stop them, when they come from the right, he’s on the left and sometimes not even on the field!

Arse or Brain (12.00 pm) – no problem at all – as I said, it wasn’t really intended to be an in depth report, more a few words on the overall experience. I think I was a bit horrified when you said I hadn’t been fair to some of the other players which was, of course, absolutely not my intention.
I don’t get to all the games at Barnet but if you are so inclined I’d personally love to read a match report from you – you’ve clearly got a great grasp of the various Arsenal lads coming through (more than me, I’m sure).
Plus, more importantly, If I’m there, with my AA hat on for ease of recognition, me and Arsene will I’ll gladly relieve you of a Bovril! (Arsene prefers his stirred, not shaken btw).
Agree with the various Big Ups for George and Adi – it was quite something bringing this all together (especially with George’s jeepers creepers playing up); the fact it feels like a lot longer than a week ain’t a bad sign.
