Top quality podcast George, Ronan and Geoff. One hour went so swiftly because of good, positive vibes by guys who want the best for our club. There is a lesson here for all other podcasters.

Excellent. I was laughing my butt off throughout. I think Ronan is a riot.
George, Giroud scored a lot last season because of Theo. I always tell Theo skeptics that.

Thanks. I enjoyed that very much.

trophies are a statistic, a statistic we willingly put aside when we pressed ‘reset’ to redefine the club. the best managers approach their job with the idea in their heads that they are there for a hundred years not 2 and 3.

First time listener, but I enjoyed that. I’m not sure I agree that there is such a thing as a striker who creates for himself and scores out of nothing in a team game though. I do agree that the Ozil/Walcott partnership is likely to bear some good fruit – we saw some evidence from their first game together when unfortunately Theo was not wearing his most accurate shooting boots.

Great fun, thanks to all.
Hunter, AW said recently that he did not imagine that he would be at Arsenal this long when he started but like you I’m not complaining! : )
As Geoff says, there are not many managers out there with his record in 2013…chuck in DB10s recent comments and there’s not much to add. Heh.
I too would not shed a tear if a meteorite hit and fracked up Gazprom-Upon-Chelski (sparing the homes of local residents!). Unfortunately I think they’ll be there till the end this year. Maureen is obviously playing games with everyone but I don’t know why, we all know he’ll send his team out to kick when they come to visit, even in the CC. Chelsea only owon last year in N.London thanks to two devestating free kicks from Mata. Somehow I’m guessing the great man’s ego will make room for Mata in his games against Arsenal.
Giroud is an interesting one. It was that cheeky backheel (copying Carzola in the same game! Brilliance.) during that amazing spell of goals in the 5-1 against West Ham early in the year, near the beginning of The Run that made me imagine that he was going to have an interesting time at the club. Now he seems to have added the Blunderbuss Dribble to his armoury (see the start of the second half against Napoli), and that flick against Australia wasn’t too bad! And I also would not cry to see Plodders plod about at CF. If he gets a run of games in that position who knows. Akpom, I’d like to see him against Chelsea, which will also be a big game for Prince Bendy:

Well done PG, Ronan and Geoff.
I had such a laugh listening to that. Some classic lines…..”I’d kick ’em in the bollocks if they weren’t behind a computer” from PG….and “sometimes in the game he’s looking up thinking ‘fuck me this is fast'” from Geoff in his London brogue. The latter just has me feeling a little homesick for my home town! Even my wife the ‘spud’ can’t stop chuckling when she hears Ronan say ‘talking through the arse’. What is it about the Irish accent? When I hear them say ‘arse’ it’s almost musical! Fuckin’ brilliant chaps can’t wait for the next one…..

P.S. I’m not convinced that the West Brom game was just down to Aaron being off his game – we are not a one man team. It was probably difficult for the team to come down from the high of Napoli as well as the fact that more or less the same players have been playing at such a high level since the season began. What we missed was the ability to change things up with some fresh faces because of having so many walking wounded at the moment. Imagine being able to rest Ozil and Ramsey by bringing in Cazorla and Diaby? Imagine Podolski’s lethal left foot on the end of an Ozil/Cazorla assist, or the speed of Theo on the right or even inter-changing with the Ox on the left? All possibilities that were not available to the manager in the last game.

off course sure, i meant in terms of approach..you get the job and you think where do we want to be in 10 years time, 20 years time, 30 years time etc etc…and that in order to get to where we want we must go through phase a,b , c, d etc etc.. and then you start doing it…whether the bosses keep you or not depends on how they judge your progress i suppose.

I didn’t disagree that he was part of it George, just it all. It would not do us any good for the team to be dependant on one player for their form, so I don’t want to encourage that line of thinking.
P.S. It’s good to be talking football again!

Passenal at 10:51 am – Another point where some of us on this blog may disagree with Geoff is the idea that Flamini is the superior option to Arteta. It is a very popular opinion and harkens back to the conventional wisdom four years ago, when Flamini left, that we needed a dedicated D**M sitting in front of the back four and that failure to do so was our Achilles heel. As 7amkickoff wrote in his ode to Arteta as our player-of-the-season:
“Arteta led the Premier League in passes per game, was near the top in passing percentage, made an incredible 87% of his long passes and led Arsenal in tackles, interceptions, and fouls committed.”
Yet many are treating Flamini as a solution to a problem that, to my mind ,never existed. I agree with a point strongly made by Gains made nearly a week ago, that having Arteta and Flamini in the same team is a much too defensive setup which is more alike Mourinho’s negative tactics and not the positive offensive approach of a Wenger-like team. It is Arteta or Flamini for me and in the big games preferably Arteta.
Many of us on PA may be contrarians but its not the first time we have prevailed vs popular opinion.

Amusing thought from the armchair gooner:
“I make no secret of my absolute and utter disdain for the ‘Interlull’. England may have won by an impressive 4 goals to 1 against a reportedly decent Montenegrin side, but the little I watched bored me so much I decided a few moments spent contemplating the steps I’d take in the event of losing my penis was an immeasurably more enjoyable and rewarding pursuit.”

excellent podcast again, the flam/art thing I think will divide many gooners and I think it will only be answered in time, West brom should largely be ignored as a indicator. unfortunately as much as I would like to see the Russian gangster disappear I cant see it happening and even if it does chelski are worth considerably more as a brand than the pound he brought it for and so only another rich kid would be able to afford them and so were going to be stuck with the financial doping for a very long time. The only thing that will stop this is the disinterest of the tv companies.
I believe like yourselves this team is growing into something really big again although I hope that when the team realises its potential its with the hither to unknown and homegrown players and not to many superstars brought in so we can celebrate something that was really created in north london
