so the news from arteta today is that Reiss Nelson might go out on loan, Runarsson might not, Mustafi might leave, AMN needs to up his efforts in training if he wants to get more game time.

Deyan Iliev has returned to AFC from his loan at Shrewsbury
Matt Smith might be coming back off loan from Swindon too, they are set to let one of their loan players leave, but have not decided which one yet. Smith started his loan very well but in recent weeks he has seen less game time.
Ben Sheaf played his 24th game for Coventry yesterday, and there is a clause in his loan deal that triggers a permanent move when he plays 25 games or it may be passes 25 games.

Think you can afford to be a terrible trainer if you prove you are anything but terrible on the pitch. Promising though AMN might be I’m not sure he has earned the right.

thats how i see it too foreverheady, 121 games for Arsenal and he has not been able to put a run of starts together, and can’t buy a game in his preferred position of central midfield. By and large his best performances has been as a man marking left wing back. He has too many games where he just seems to be strolling. He has so much talent, but far too often you are left with the feeling he could have done so much more in a game.
Arteta today for the second time in only a matter of weeks has basically said the lad is not doing enough to force his way into getting game time.
I mentioned on the last thread, that if everyone is fit, we have maybe five players to drop from the squad that faced southampton, for me AMN is a prime candidate to be one of the five that will drop down the pecking order.

Eduardo: for all sorts of reasons i am reluctant to find fault with players, especailly those who have yet to quite make it (who am I kidding MSN has already made it far more than most could ever dream of). I was lucky to see him play live a couple of times: what a talent, what a touch, what time he had. But now he just frustrates me and I get the feeling he sort of wants a reason to leave. I find myself hoping he does.

i know what you mean foreverheady, the talent he has can not be doubted, but too often I am just left with the feeling he could and should have done so much more in a game. It all seems so easy to him, but it seems it aint happening at AFC for him.
A rumor doing the rounds is that AFC want to use him in part exchange for Brighton midfielder Bissouma, of course that could just be one started by one of the Xhaka haters.

West Brom pushing hard to sign Ainsley Maitland-Niles on loan for rest of season. Also interest from a current top4 side but they need to do other business first. More suitors may emerge. Big call for Arsenal & 23yo before deadline @TheAthleticUK

Matip got injured again for LFC tonight and will it seems be out for a while, and rumor has it that Mustafi might be an option for them on loan for rest of the season.

What is the situation with Callum Chambers? Is he injured or is he out of favour?

Not aware of any setback for Chambers. Played at least a couple of u23 games (before Christmas I think)
Arteta always spoken highly of him, including recently, and I’ve vague feeling he was selecting him at start of reign, when injury struck.
I’m all for taking it very easy with players after ACL return. If he went on loan, esp to struggling club, they’d prob just play him and if he breaks down so be it, whereas if players with you can be more in control of situation.
That said, I’ve lost track of timescale now of when he got the injury, when he returned to reserves etc. Much trickier at business end of season to give players a game here and there.

Couple things for all to digest.
Various plundits across the board including 5live On Tuesday night all now happy to state the obvious: that dropping one of the most popular and best footballers from the recent period/era from the club’s football squad caused a stink, disquiet and unsettled a the rest of the squad and ignoring the technical impact on the pitch from that idiotic call which is significant in itself, the Ozil call was the primary cause of the team’s slump in form in the first half of the season.
On top of that there was the drop in technical quality but the impact on the spirit in the camp was the most important single factor.
And: you can’t argue with that. Yet people did.
It’s a simple game.

No doubt dropping Mesut affected the team.
Most especially Auba, Pepe, Willian and Lacazette, I imagine.
MA & Edu had to steer the ship with everything they had and were on the verge of a shipwreck. Luckily they had the Academy Arsene built to reach into and call on new magicians. Saka & ESR essentially bailed out clueless Stan & Raoul da crook.
That said, and with a brand new MO11, I expect nothing but full throttle from thid team, especially the aforementioned Willian, Pepe, & Auba. Laca is already up and running, serving as the glue to our final 3rd. We have a quality squad rich with flavour with everyone fit and
I believe we can make top 4.

a host of EPL clubs have contacted Arsenal over the signing of Ainsley Maitland-Niles on loan for the rest of the season, with Southampton, WBA, West Ham and Leicester City among them

Its being suggested that Arsenal want to do a swap loan for AMN with Southampton, to see Ryan Bertrand come to AFC for rest of the season

Report – Patino makes debut and Cottrell scores as Arsenal U23s draw with Tottenham Hotspur

Arsenal U23s saw their winning run come to an end today as they were held to a 1-1 draw away to rivals Tottenham Hotspur, but Steve Bould’s side did manage to extend their unbeaten run to six games, with Ben Cottrell getting on the scoresheet.
Bould made two changes to the side that thrashed Brighton & Hove Albion last week, with Charlie Patino making his U23 debut as he replaced Miguel Azeez, while in goal Karl Hein started instead of Arthur Okonkwo.
There was some positive news, with Daniel Oyegoke named amongst the substitutes as he returned from injury.
Arsenal’s Jonathan Dinzeyi started against his former club, while Hale End product Tobi Omole was in the Tottenham side, adding an extra edge to proceedings.
Tottenham went into the game top of the table and called upon some excellent prospects in Alfie Devine and Dane Scarlett.
Arsenal have plenty of impressive talents of their own, however, and managed to take the lead in the 17th minute, with Cottrell scoring from inside the area following a quickly taken free-kick.
Tottenham responded well, though, and equalised courtesy of Kion Etete in the 33rd minute before Scarlett shot wide just before half time.
The hosts had a chance to go ahead in the early stages of the second half as they won a penalty, but Scarlett ended up sending the spot-kick over the crossbar.
Arsenal then made two alterations, with Kido Taylor-Hart and Daniel Oyegoke entering the fray in place of Patino and Catalin Cirjan.
Folarin Balogun looked to put Arsenal in the lead in the 82nd minute, but Tottenham goalkeeper Josh Oluwayemi was able to prevent him from scoring.
In true North London derby style, it was a rather tempestuous encounter, with Arsenal ending the game with five bookings and Tottenham getting three.
Although they were unable to take all three points on this occasion, Arsenal continued to show signs of improvement following a disappointing start to the campaign.
The big games keep coming for Arsenal, with matches against Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool scheduled for the next month.
Arsenal: Hein; Alebiosu, Olowu, Dinzeyi, Lopez (Ogungbo, 74); Akinola, Patino (Taylor-Hart, 54); Cirjan (Oyegoke, 55), Cottrell, Balogun; Moller.

Alot has been made of our last six PL games however chelski were not on form and even the saints losing their full backs looked a completely different side to the one that beat us in the cup. So if you look at the games individually the form is more on the mild side .
Manure have been on a great run of form and have some really special players but even they managed to lose to Sheffield United so in this strange season it does actually look like anyone could beat anyone.
If we do manage to beat manure, although I think we will struggle, it will open up much more optimism for the remaining seventeen games COYG.
