  1. on the same topic as AMN future at AFC, I would say Nelson and Willock will need to go out on loan this window if they are to progress, they aint getting a look in here.

I see Balogun who scored a hattrick last night for the U23’s, posted one of his goals right after our cup defeat today, many seeing this as a dig at Arteta for not having him included. On that subject, I can see why he is not in the squad when he won’t sign a new contract, but as Nketiah is struggling for goals and game time, I think Arteta has to make a big decision, Eddie or Florian, which one is most likely to make it big at AFC, and go with that one, rightly or wrongly.

  2. With each passing day the WOBs agenda failing and now at all time low. Arsenal has been faltering big time on and off the field. Management has been poor and decisions regarding tranfers, buying, selling have backfired big time and we are a laughing stock across the country.I am not saying we were perfect under Wenger.Arsene had some weaknesses but every human being does have some. But the downfall is ominous in front of our eyes.
We told the idiot fans Be careful what you wish for and they have been proven wrong and we at
    POSITIVELY ARSENAL
    UNCENSORED ARSENAL
    UNTOLD ARSENAL
have been vindicated. The idiot fans like Gilberto 13 have no place to hide.

  3. players signed so far under Arteta

    Mari
    Cedric
    Ceballos (loan)
    Gabriel
    Willian
    Runarsson
    Partey
    Ryan

thats 8 players so far, and as I said earlier, we are in for Odegaard, with the club reported to be cautious but optimistic that this deal can be done, plus we want a left back. if we get these two deals done in the next two weeks, we will have signed 10 players in 3 transfer windows under Arteta

  6. Find it strange how people are saying Eddie is struggling when you look at how many goals Laca and Auba scored all season when Willian and Pepe was supplying them. He didn’t even have help from Keiran just Cedric with his lead boots on hitting balls a rugby player would be proud of. Elneny had a poor game today compared to how he was playing earlier in the season and even Xhaka was quite compared to his last few awesome performances. Martinelli is also not at full pace yet.
Considering how the team was playing behind him I thought Eddie played well.
The game confirmed that apart from the recent first team only the former academy players should be in the squad.
Loaning out Joe, Ainsley, Eddie and Reiss will mean players like Pepe will play all season nightmare.
Before Mari’s injury many were saying that Gabriel would walk straight back into the starting line up and I said for a few games before his absence he had been playing badly well I think we had that confirmed today. Hopefully he is just rusty but I believe Mari is better in the air and better distributer off the ball.
Having said all that playing our bench and players coming back from injury at a place where we normally struggle to a team above us in the league with their strongest side out and only losing to an O.G. isn’t the end of the world many on twitter would have us believe.

as things stand they move up the table and it puts Arsenal down to 11th

  8. ian you are missing the point about Willock, AMN, Nelson, Nketiah, they are not going to get the game time they need from Arteta, unless injuries mean he has to use them, and they then hit form.
Nelson played in 17 EPL games last season, now after 19 EPL games this season, he has played in 2, and at 21 years of age its 15 extra games he needs to be added not getting 15 less. Arteta wanted him out on loan this season, Reiss refused, it has been shown to be a bad call by the lad, it seems it not a good idea to disagree with Arteta.

I would add its not only these young lads who need to go, the likes of Mustafi seems to have been frozen out of the squad now too, time for him to maybe move on too

Didn’t think Eddie bad today. Definitely think he’s got stronger in last year and now does better in strength battles (seems to have edge on most opponents for Eng u21’s on that front)

That said, I feel totally uncertain what future holds for him. Even more so than most positions, think true strikers need to win/have starting place before they can show their best or reach true level. Think more often than not those who end up being top strikers take number of years before they get there and, typically, it’s not at club where they started.

Notable exceptions like Rooney, Owen, Fowler, Mbappe, Neymar, Del Piero?, Ronaldo 1- outstanding from off, and perhaps rarely traditional type strikers who have to do the main battle with centre backs.

Feel it is more likely than not that one day he is a starting premier league centre forward, but not sure what route will be.

  10. One can see that Arteta is far from convinced that the “ESR” way is the one forward and that he is determined that his way, which brought us down to 16th is the only way, so at the first opportunity, he reverted to to “his” was, with his dream player “willian” at the helm, and that has got us knocked out of the cup albeit by yet another own goal.

2 shots on target is pure Artetaball and, if that is the real sign of the future, then all that was learnt in the last 5 games has been wasted.

  12. Personal issues can take many forms. I think Auba was substituted when on a hat trick because of tummy problems, so it coud have been a follow on from that. Or family problems. Or a super lucrative transfer bid. I am sure we will be the last to know!

  13. Ed, there is no point to miss, all the ex-academy should be getting game times so they progress together at ARSENAL and build up even greater relationships.
We have brought players that have not done anything and it is those who should be sold or loaned out with a view to a permanent move.
In years gone by we would loan youngsters out who couldn’t get regularly starts but we are in a different situation now. We are not a top four club anymore there is no reason why those youngsters shouldn’t be given played alot more.
At the moment we are playing players because of name, reputation or amount of wages we pay them.
Auba has had a terrible season as had Pepe and Willian, I cannot believe anyone in the world could make a case for those three playing in front of Eddie, Joe, Ainsley or Reiss.
It is time we started making decisions for the future of club and not for the very short term or because of reputation.
We are a mid-table side with a very good academy there is only one logical way to go.
If we send all these youngsters out on loan and they get lost it will be a waste and cost the club alot of money it hasn’t got.
The last thing is all true ARSENAL fans should want as many academy players in the side as possible even if it doesn’t mean instant success.

  15. but ian what we should be doing with the lads from the Academy, and what is and will happen are two different things, that is the point. We can only go on the actions of Arteta, and he is not giving much game time to any of the Academy players bar Saka, it was only injuries that seen ESR brought into the team, and the lad has done well, but now today we are told that a direct competitor for his place in the team is on his way from Real Madrid, lets see in a few weeks who Arteta is picking, will ESR still be starting, will it be Odegaard or maybe he will still stick by Willian, I know which is the most likely

  18. Yes the odegaard transfer worries me greatly, he said he would only go on loan if he was guaranteed being first choice. He has also said there is no choice of him leaving RM.I really can’t see the point in it.
We are in a great position, there is no pressure at the moment because expectations are low if we throw away out chance to integrate this talented group of youngsters then it will be another black day for ARSENAL and long term a bigger mistake than the Ozil,Papa,Saliba situation.

  21. anyone else notice that in his goodbye messages Ozil did not mention Arteta at all and echoed a lot of what Arsene Wenger said in his goodbye message

on Arsenal.com message Ozil thanked Edu for helping to get the deal done

and on his twitter message he said

“I will always be grateful for the trust placed in me by Arsene Wenger in September 2013”

    also

“players, staff and management come and go – the clubs values and fans will remain forever
The Principles of class, respect, dignity must never be forgotten. It is the responsibility of every single person from the club to make sure they carry out their job in the name of these values”

Ozil also said he would try not to bear any grudges.

  22. amazing that less than 3 years after Wenger left and told us to take care of the values of the club, that we have Ozil having to tell us basically the same. Sad really.

  23. Try not to bear grudges? who? Ozil? ok … he can write down his memoirs together with the president there. Ozil will tell arsenal about class and dignity ? where did he find it? while playing fortnite on 350k a week? fantastic ethos…… maybe his dignity is still at baku. Abusing Ozil is silly , he is a professional he does what he likes answers to noone and rightly so, fuck twitter and all those clearly deranged subhumans …but we can challenge the opinions which hold ozil in higher regard than trully established proven winners with consistency and longeivity in the game.

Maybe he has a better velvet touch than david silva but what we saw from david silva in the pitches in england we did not see it from mesut. not even close. so i dont know/understand what type of player you think of him. i am struggling to understand what he offers when you dont have world class killing machines as strikers and when you dont have warrior centrebacks and extreme box to box super engines.

He did it for marid and die manchaft but those first 11s are light years ahead of anything arsenal has or had at the time. if he was the final piece then ..maybe the puzzle wasnt ready yet. and if he was the galvanising transfer that would have taken arsenal to new heights, well……….. that went to shit…

  24. end of the day …the two players wenger entrusted to bring the cookie home had their chance with leicester and fucked it. because grown men like gabriel paulista and nacho monreal and alexis sanchez and mesut ozil etc etc etc allow a debutant rashford to score 2 goals in a game they were struggling with injuries…a game in which we have just caught leicester at 2 points difference with welbecks late winner. same game 1st round we beat them 3-0……..2nd round, while chasing CHAMPIONSHIP …they lost from rashford….. and i think they either lost to crystal palace at home or worse the troy deeney team a 2-3 in the emirates completely killed our chances in the closing weeks….so fuck you ozil and you too alexis and while im at it..fuck you too thierry henry..just score one of them against valdez and its ours…but no he crapped it..and then fucked off to barcelona so that messi and xavi win it for him ,,,but your biggest beef is with cesc ( ??) and robin?

Theirry was on the panels shitting on Giroud….. Oli won world cup eh…..

  28. Doubt our academy ever been this stacked/productive.

Not sure what composition of Spurs u18 team was but after Mou saying that was where talent was-16-18- for Spurs and they’d have to wait, sure hope it was close to their best.

For us, Azeez could still play u18, Cirjan and Oyegoke also and, ach, Musah, too, if still here. Flores and khayon Edwards presumably injured. Salah Eddine, who unfortunately must have picked up serious injury early doors, another who could play u18.

Add that to U23’s doing very well despite us having about 7-8 strong players loaned out and we really seem to be in good health.

Fingers crossed we can capitalise on it. Potential for great things but also potential for great pain if a number of them end up smashing it elsewhere.

Martin Odegaard has spent the day at London Colney meeting his new team-mates, undergoing all the necessary medical checks and going through all the usual club media duties ahead of his move from Real Madrid. Told announcement is more likely to come tomorrow rather than today.

  32. I know Martin Odegaard was some sort of wonderkid, broke through to make his debut in a friendly for Strømsgodset aged just 13, and was in their first team on a regular basis at 15, and was capped at Senior level for Norway at 15. But the reality is that at the age of 22, he barely got a look in at Real Madrid this season, played in (including as sub), just 7 of their 19 league games, and 2 of their 6 CL games, and Real are only too happy to get him out on loan. But many are reacting to this loan signing like he is the second coming, I say lets actually wait and see how the lad does before we crown him a King

  35. I find the club and Arteta’s praise of the Exile mealy-mouthed and insincere.

Whether we will ever know the truth, who knows, but whatever the truth is, the Exile comes out smelling of roses and Arteta and the club stinking to high heaven.

As they go about cancelling another contract they set about bringing in another reject from a top club.

Here we are picking up more crumbs that the big boys allow us to have, because they don’t want them.

Cellabos, Luiz and Willian are examples. Now we have someone else, who, at the same time, will ensure the ESR gets only a few chances and his education is stalled.

    What a mess.
