It’d help if they’d at least pay the players their wages instead of asking them to take a pay cut. Nobody is expecting him to pump in 200m but at least do the bare minimum.
I’m pretty sure Özil’s continued absence is centered around the fact he refused the pay cut, not buying the bonus story as he was playing every game pre-lockdown so doesn’t add up for me.

You are quite right Jules, There is more than 1 reason for Ozil’s exclusion.
I wasn’t saying KSE should not lend a hnd, of a £, just saying why, in a strictly business sense, they don’t.

Who’s idea was the pay cut? It must of come from somewhere, I know Arteta and Bellerin were the guys on the ground talking everyone into it. That’s where I would have expected Kroenkes billions to come in handy but as we’re self sustaining I guess that’s not his responsibility either in a business sense.

Didn’t shell out for u23/21 game today as thought with recent form and even more players out they’d prob get a thumping. Excellent stuff from them if that was against proper senior opposition again.
Really impressive for academy to still be able to do that with the 4-5 who’ve made it to seniors, about 10 on loan and another 5-10 good or at least more experienced prospects who have left last couple of years.
Particularly exciting to see Azeez having a big moment as he’s pretty clearly one of best prospects we have.

Eddie Nketiah breaks England U21 goalscoring record
Eddie Nketiah scored for England U21s against Turkey to become the Three Lions’ all-time record goalscorer at that level.
Nketiah had missed a penalty just minutes earlier but regained his composure to break the record previously held by Alan Shearer and former Arsenal striker Francis Jeffers.
Since making his U21 debut in 2018, Nketiah has gone on to score 14 goals in 12 games. He is still eligible to play at that level until the conclusion of the European Championships next summer.
The prolific youngster previously scored four goals in two games for England U18s, nine goals in ten games for the U19s and six goals in nine games for the U20s.

Intriguing to see whose approach yields better results between us and Utd. They’ve been spending very heavily on youth players, including 10 mill for a 16 year old last year but I reckon we’ll continue to produce more good players and first team challengers than them.

The great man has said on more than one occasion that a major attraction of elite sport is its meritocratic nature. One wonders if English professional football will be able to retain that under the Liverpool and Manchester United scheme.

Think it’s been written up with the aim of making it near impossible for them to ever fall very far. We’re already a very long way down that road but they want to tilt the odds even further in their favour.
I mean Utd have served up a lot of terrible football in recent years, with a lot of expensive signings underperforming, but they haven’t fallen or suffered financially in the way a giant would in the old football world under those circumstances.

Arteta on whether Mesut Ozil will be in our Premier League squad (confirmed on October 20)…
He wasn’t the only one who was not in the [Europa League] squad. It is a really difficult decision for me to make because to leave players out of the squad at that level, where they know they cannot get involved, is really tough. I don’t like it at all, but the decision had to be made because we have an excess of foreign players. Unfortunately we had to make that decision.

I think you have to try and find a way to feed every player with their own qualities and this is our job. And obviously our responsibility with all the players we have to manage.

It’s remarkable to consider how unique this season is & is going to be. The internationals only adding to the quantifiably insane chaos.
The predictably rabid fight over the right to beam games into our phones and eventually our eyeballs is warming up.
I am grateful to Liverpool and Man. Utd for the timing of the announcement after their epic defeats. Hugely amusing.
Doesn’t matter what we think of how Arteta might try and change the Ozil situation, if he doesn’t change it for the better the gradual impact will not help his efforts & we want to see him continue to do well and his squad play to it’s full potential.

My money’s on a back three with AMN in, I’d like to see Saka in the mix too ahead of one or two others.
Think Klopp and Pep were both probably highly vexed after Auba’s goals from the left in that spell.

The goal against Liverpool in the super cup?
The cup winning bambooziling “Ah Zou” manoeuvre was legendary, the best goal of the bunch. Ceballos’ header, Bellerin, the howling nutmeg that might have scarred poor Rudiger, Pepe’s control and pass, the setting up of Zouma following Auba’s previous efforts and finally the dink.
Yet my favourite was the nutmeg on Ederson. The glimpse of Tierny’s passing qualities was worth celebrating & the nutmeg of such a top level keeper was even more sensational then Hector’s passing of Rudiger.
Will Arteta stick or twist with the line up? Will he expect Pep to have had his brow furrowed over the break?

Harry Clarke has joined League Two side Oldham Athletic until the end of January 2021.
The 19 year-old Academy graduate has been at the club since 2015. A ball-playing defender, Harry signed his first professional contract with the club in August 2018, and following an impressive season with our under-23s, signed a new deal in December 2019.
Everyone at Arsenal wishes Harry all the best for his time at Oldham Athletic.
The loan is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.
