Now then, we won, we definitely won the second half, but the first half had me worrying.
In that first half Leeds were all over us, they were creating chances for fun, had way more possession and frankly looked much the better team. Our midfield looked like it did when Emery had the keys , Ozil saw nothing of the ball Guendouzi was all over the place. Worst of all the passing was poor, Holding in particular, with him Guendouzi and Luiz all playing straight balls which were easily cut out by Leeds players. We were lucky , very lucky, to get to half time without being at least a goal or two behind.
Then came the second half and it was a complete roll reversal. We pushed much higher up the pitch, pressed with more intensity and it was us that were dominant. Now Guendouzi seemed to be doing everything right, He pressed, won balls, drove forward and had a big positive effect on the game. Ozil was given more of the ball and started to open Leeds up with his passing and composure. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t vintage stuff, but they had clearly been given instructions from Arteta and were able to action them.
The goal was a bit of a scruffy affair in the end, but Nelson wont care, it was enough to win the game, as it happens.
Lacazette was given man of the match, and deservedly so, he work tirelessly and held the ball well, bringing others in ,doing everything bar scoring.
I have to say that when Martinelli came on for Nelson, he immediately looked the real deal. What a prospect that boy is.
So we now face Bournemouth in round 4, I think we will win that.

Stillrich, John goes everywhere all round the world following ARSENAL but it was my mate who used to be an ARSENAL scout who first got him access to Hale end and the younger age groups. Now he still goes to them all the time and I can’t get in typical.

Are there any potential incomings or possible outgoings this month?
Mikel Arteta was asked a number of questions about our January plans by the media at London Colney on Thursday. Here’s what he had to say:
on whether there will be any significant investment this month…
I don’t know, I’m not expecting big things. I’m expecting big things from the players I have at the moment, the players that are recovering from injuries. That’s the biggest expectations from my side, they’re there. If we can find something to help us go through the season in a more balanced way in certain areas, and is helpful, we’ll look at the options.

on whether we’re actively looking to strengthen…
Yeah, we always have to be looking because obviously we have some bad injuries for players who are going to be out for a long time. We have to see if we can find options there.
on a potential loan departure for Emile Smith Rowe…
We are assessing the situation with three of them [young players]. We are evaluating all the offers that they have from different clubs, where would suit them more and if it’s the right time for them to make that step. In the next few days, we will tell you exactly what will happen.
on whether the other two youngsters are Tyreece John-Jules and Eddie Nketiah…
Yeah. And with Eddie it’s the same situation. I sat down with him and was very impressed with him. I think it was a great challenge for him to work in that environment in Leeds. I think he’s become a much better player, a much more competitive player. Then the decision to make now is whether it’s better to send him out for another five months to realise his potential and have him ready for next season, or keep him here. It’s something we have to discuss in the next few days.
on if he thinks we have to sell to buy in this window…
We’re not thinking to sell. There’s nothing concrete at the moment on the table, as I said, I’m focusing on the players we have now and this transfer window is a little bit tricky and things might come at the end. But I don’t know which way.

Wow: he looks a man against boys. In all the talk there has been about Arsenal being a club in crisis, with no investment and no plan, it does seem that there has been far more going on behind the scenes than people perhaps realise.

Arsenal have re-signed Brazilian scout, Sandro Orlandelli from United, at Edu’s request. He initially worked for Arsenal for over a decade, recommending many players including Carlos Vela.

Tyreece John-Jules has joined League One side Lincoln City on loan for the remainder of the season.
The 18-year-old forward, who has been part of our youth set-up for past ten years is enjoying another successful season, having scored eight goals across all competitions for our youth sides.
Last season, as well as scoring 16 goals from his 30 appearances, the England youth international was handed a taste of first-team football in a friendly against Al-Nasr Dubai SC during our mid-season visit, marking his opportunity with a goal.
He’s since been named in the first-team squad for our home matches against Chelsea in the Premier League and Leeds United in the FA Cup third round.
Everyone at Arsenal wishes Tyreece all the best for his time with Lincoln City.

Emile Smith Rowe joins Huddersfield Town on loan

Emile Smith Rowe has joined Championship side Huddersfield Town on loan for the remainder of the season.
The 19-year-old midfielder, who has developed through our Hale End youth academy, has been a part of the first-team squad for the past two seasons, making 12 appearances, including two in the Premier League.
After making an impressive impact on the first team, scoring three goals from his six appearances last season, Smith Rowe went on loan to Bundesliga team RB Leipzig, where although the experience greatly benefitted our young midfielder, injury restricted him to just three outings for the German side.
Croydon-born Smith Rowe, who has represented England at under-16, under-18, under-19 and under-20 levels, celebrated his 18th birthday in style with a fantastic display for the senior team against Paris Saint-Germain in the International Champions Cup pre-season competition in Singapore in July 2018.
Everyone at Arsenal wishes Emile all the best for his time with Huddersfield Town.

Emile is a very good technical player and plays better and better the more quality of players around him which is why he never looks out of place in the first team. Therefore I don’t see this being a particularly good move for him I hope I’m wrong.

Jose starting the first green shoots of whinging, already, ominous for Spurs, especially with the contract he is on.
Levy had better get his chequebook out, or else we know what happens.
That said, hope he wins tomorrow, a bigger picture going on there
