Mourinho, The Special Hypocrite

images

Mourinho’s latest calculated big play, talking about money and its impact, is pretty incredible.

He’s right. 100 per cent right, in that Man City’s crazy spending and greater wealth than Utd has made his task of trying to make utd top dogs much harder or, quite possibly, beyond him. But the hypocrisy of it…

Also the great flaw in the logic…i.e if City being the one club richer than his means it will be extremely difficult for him to beat them, doesn’t that mean all other clubs are at a bigger disadvantage to City and also at a disadvantage to Utd, and so forth, relative to all clubs spending power? And that then applies to all clubs over all seasons, past present and in the future.

From what I’ve seen, few journo’s, Castles aside, have been willing to support Mou on this, which was to be expected, as for reasons I don’t fully understand the entire profession is keen to downplay the relationship between spending and success at the very top of the league, most of the time.

However, not one of them has pursued the line of thought that if mourinho is right, or wrong, then what an incredible hypocrite the man is, and what low and lousy behavior from him during all the years he had the financial upper hand to, basically, refute suggestions money was key to success.

In particular, they should, naturally, consider the implications in his relationship with his biggest foe, Wenger. All the years of antipathy, all the low comments, all while doing everything to downplay or exclude the role of finances in any discussion of Wenger’s work and capabilities.

It’s so damn poor for none of the media to pick up on any of that. But again, it has to be expected. They couldn’t mention it without introducing a herd of elephants in the room relating to their own conduct. That is, the truth has been there all along, and they surely always knew it. Every manager should be judged in relation to the financial power at their disposal.

This was a post in the comments section for Rich ,that I’ve stolen.

  1. This is the very essence of this site, many of the posts in the comments section are good enough to be main posts .

  3. Absolutely! I would use even stronger words for this man.
Anyone who spends 90million on Lukaku cannot really moan. But I sense Jose’s day of reckoning is coming, his star seems to be on the wane. Utd supporters don’t seem especially happy with him.
If he leaves Utd, Do PSG really need a manager like that? Especially as , if Wenger is correct, there will soon be EU moves to get a handle on spending within the game
ok, I know Wenger has been over optimistic on the regulation of football in the past

Mr Castles is very short of credibility these days over Jose and Mendes, most blogs I have seen just laugh at him
Because of set agendas within the media and elsewhere, it may be that Wenger only gets the widespread credit he deserves after he has left Arsenal, which hopefully will not be for some time yet
Jose is fast becoming a parody of a bitter, deluded, chequebook manager, who plays shit football.

  4. it will take a trophyless season for jose for the full fall out to happen at utd. missing out on top 4 too would finish him.

  5. Mandy I must disagree with your comment

“Jose is fast becoming a parody of a bitter, deluded, chequebook manager, who plays shit football.”

He is not a parody at all, that is him, plain and simple, he is a bitter, deluded, chequebook manager who plays shit football, and I would add he is a nasty cunt too.

  6. I suspect Utd will still get their traditional help to finish in the top four, but could easily be a close run thing
I am still quite surprised they went for Jose, with his brand of football, and interesting relationships with special agents, but then again, probably shouldn’t be
If it doesn’t go as right for them as they expect, can easy see them parting with Jose this summer, despite what that will cost, and making a trip to our neighbours for their next man

  7. a few days after huddersfield v stoke that seen one team in blue and white stripes with white shorts, the other in red and white stripes with white shorts, it seems AFC not allowed their white shorts v WBA cos the home team have white shorts. Its being reported that Arsenal will wear our Home kit but with Red shorts.
We have to remember its Mike Dean as Ref, so either we are taking no chances or he is being pernickety, I know which one its likely to be

  9. True Eduardo, maybe I should rephrase that, but he seems to be getting worse, and will continue to do so if it doesn’t work at Utd.
    An extremely unpleasant character.
Fergie certainly had his faults in a football context, cheating, bullying and ref selection amongst them, but that club sold what remained of their soul with Jose. There was reportedly some resistance to his appointment, but clearly not enough

A goal keeper I’ve always had time for ,spoke today on Footbal Focus about Mental Health ,
There are currently 400 players having help with Mental Health issues.
The reaction of Patrice Evra to a Olympique de Marseille fan who is a close friend of Karim Benzema, also highlight the stesses that players go through.

  11. Wahey. Cheers Jeorge. I’ve made it.

Glad to make a contribution. Even happier it’s about my least favourite figure in football and a wider subject I’m extremely interested in.

Quite simply, if, through stupidity of dishonesty, you haven’t got a reasonable grasp on finances in football nearly all your major conclusions, expectations, etc, will be off.

  13. I find it incredible that journalists lambast any club that gets its self in to financial difficulties i.e., Leeds, Bolton, QPR and will often trot out the well-worn clichés about financial stability and not spending beyond your means but then openly push for clubs like City Utd & Chelsea to spend more and more to buy success then site it as some sort of football genius which of course its not its just financial power pure and simple. Mourinho would have sold himself to the Utd board as the only man who can stop City which has proven to be a non-starter as City have all but won the title by Christmas. Guardiola is a good manager no doubt but could he do it with Liverpool. Everton, Spurs or Arsenal? No, I don’t think he could so what does that say for the other 13 teams in the division. It says you have to spend more that you earn just to compete or go broke trying. FFP is a farce and that was proven by both City & PSG as UEFA made a show of investigating but simply buckled at the knees when told to by the money men. Mourinho is yesterdays man and wont last at Utd.

  14. What I don’t understand, not understood for years to be honest, is why Jose has to be so nasty, paranoid and infinitely willing to feel offended or wronged. Fair enough a young coach starting out you expect a bit of spikiness stemming from their insecurity and need to prove themselves , but ffs Jose you have won everything, earned far more than you could ever spend – fucking grow up.

The Arsenal will just have to gun them down after hopefully blasting their way past the Brummies.

  20. The mark of the specialist throughout his career has been his distinguished inability to manage top level athletes.

He treats them like mules. We know why: because he’s used to moving mules not footballers from one Godolphinesque stable to another.

The inability to rotate Lukaku when there are other forwards in the squad is yet another classic example of the Fraud in action. For contrast amidst this hectic schedule Hazard was rested but Chelsea today ahead of their Big game next week (Conte’s reluctance to use Willian has been of benefit to his rivals this season, and in the cup final…).

Perhaps like Giroud Lukaku could’ve picked up a knock or strain at anytime? That won’t stop anyone from appreciating the Football Gods sense of humour following the Specialist’s latest comments.

Though the Utd fans that I know would consider the injury to this ridiculously overpriced footballer who is simply not in the same league as players like Laca as a boon!

Fingers crossed AFC come through tomorrow’s contest ok.
