Arsene’s Way

I woke this morning fully intending to pen an article about where the spanking of Liverpool leaves us in terms of this season and more pointedly, going forward into next season.

Then I read an article written by Tim Stillman for Goonersphere, and I thought to my self “why bother ? “.No matter what I write it will be totally insignificant on a day that this has been published.

So here it is

I hope Tim and the site don’t object .

Clearly not one of the top top Gooner whistlers like Oliver or Clattenburg but I am confident he is ripe

He put himself out at the Etihad at the very start of our surge into 2015 – fine man, fine official

  4. he will only be a fine official if he does to chelsea what he did to arsenal from 2005- 2015 .

  5. i.e ..allow opposition to kick chelsea till they have 3 -4 players crippled. punish any chelsea player that even dares to do a shoulder charge. automatic red for tackles coming from chelsea player wherever on the pitch. penalties…lots of penalties to chelsea opponents. send mourinho to the stands to be humiliated by 60,000 gunners pelting him with rotten eggs tomatoes and expired yoghurt from 1983…vintage year…

  12. So the big game tonight is at Ewood Park with Blackburn hoping to put another 20,000 on their usual attendance. Injury doubt about Gestede reported, the old hamstring niggle, but I reckon it would have to be a serious problem to result in his missing the match. Be interesting to see how Brodgers has got his players back on track after Saturday’s drubbing. An early goal for the home side would surely spell panic.

Barring calamity in our Wembley day with Reading it seems to me our Cup Final opponents will be one of these two, with Villa battling relegation, and I have to admit I reckon Blackburn might just do it.

  13. There was a bit of a Twitter debate about Jack Wilshere this afternoon and someone posed the question whether the side played better with or without him. The question I am too lazy to look up myself is how regularly has Jack played in the same side as a fully fit Mesut Ozil? I am beginning to wonder whether Ozil’s influence is even greater than I initially thought.

  14. That would be a formidable research project FH. My impression is that Jack and Mesut have played together no more than a handful of times, mainly down to their respective injury problems. My last recollection of them together on a pitch was at the Bridge where neither shone.

I was surprised to see Citeh allegedly interested in Jack rather than Liverpool. I had thought the Scousers would be mad keen to get hold of the combative Jack to replace the combative G this Summer.

Wherever he goes however, if in fact he goes anywhere, he is at an age now where he must must get regular football.

The manager has compared Ozil, Wilshere and Ramsay to the Pele, Jairzinho and Rivelinho! The manager spoke to Mario Zagallo,, who played with the best Brazillians.

Who am I to debate with Mr Wenger? I will leave that to “bellhops” on another site!

I see the AAA are in full on moan fest with the view that Bellerin will rejoin Barcelona, if not this summer then within a year or two, – all based on two things, Cesc went back to them(look how that turned out), and a silly article in the British media that inferred Bellerin wanted to return to them. Totally ignoring the actual quote from Bellerin

Bellerin: “Leaving Barcelona was difficult, but my dream is to be a footballer, not to play at Barcelona. There’s life after Barcelona.”

I see some reports that Bellerin is a Betis fan, so Barcelona would hold no more appeal to him than any other big club. But this non stop negativity from the AAA is so God damn stupid and childish.

  27. Man City and Chelsea will contest this season’s FA Youth Cup,

Chelsea have won it 3 times in 5 seasons, 2010, 2012, 2014 and been runner up 2013, yet are not bringing any of these highly gifted lads through to the first team. Can you imagine the fuss in the media if Arsenal had dominated youth football like Chelsea have in recent years and still not produced a first team player, jeez we get slagged off for not producing more, the AAA love to have a little moan about our Academy not bringing through enough quality players.

Man City won the FAYC in 2008 and were runner up in 2006, none of the players in their first team squad
