Arsene, Stan And Ivan – Take a Bow

This is a post Arsenal Andrew made earlier today. I believe it deserves its own blog. Nice to see you Andrew, absence makes the heart…………….and all that .

I suspect it may take a few years for the enormity of all Arsene Wenger’s achievements to be fully digested, absorbed, understood and appreciated. Much as the great artists often only earned full recognition once they had stopped working, so too may Arsene only finally get the universal acknowledgement that most here feel he richly deserves.

Yesterday’s signing, aside from strengthening the side, is possibly more significant in its value as a statement of intent. Building on 2013′s Ozil signature, the timing, rhyming as it does with the PUMA deal and kit launch, the sense of all our ducks finally being in a row is now overwhelming.

Not only do we have the firepower pitchside, but the ability to add to our arsenal, season in, season out, thanks to the outstanding commercial work Kroenke has allowed to take place behind the scenes and so triumphantly executed by Gazidis and co.

Clearly Arsene will rightly go down as the architect of Arsenal in the 21st Century but the role of Kroenke and the success of Gazidis should never be forgotten. The euphoria most Gooners are feeling in the summer of 2014 is in no small measure thanks to all three, in spite of the vicious lies posted against their name by those who chose not to see the wood for the trees.

A small number of us called this exactly right – not over recent months but throughout several years. Years when we were attacked, belittled and derided.

We are probably more entitled than most to savour the coming success.

We’ll certainly know how to appreciate it.

  4. Georginio Wijnaldum is one to watch. What a talent @ 23.
    He’s been immense this WC.
    Wish he was ours.
    Can he play DM?

  5. I gave up once it got to 2 nil. I could not watch a team with the diver and JVC in it win anything. If the diver wins player of the tournament, I will go on a rampage. That would just be wrong on so many levels. Please God, do not let the Argentinian troll win anything tomorrow!

  7. Brazil defense again shocking. What now for the national team?? Watch and see the changes and resources put forth to bring the NT back to glory. By next world cup.
Maybe not having to qualify and going through the gauntlet of the competitive matches before the tournament did them in. They felt secure in their ability due to their reputation and past fame.
Lots of hard work ahead…. Brazilians won’t tolerate anything less..

  10. Van Gaal, the coward, waits until they’re knocked out of the world cup to play his best line up. Wijnaldum and Clasie should have started every game instead of Sneijder and DeJong. Hopefully, Guus Hidink keeps the latter two as far away from the Dutch team as possible.

I don’t want to be a dick, but did you guys see that beautiful assist David Luiz gave to Dailey Blind? Brazil are so lucky they didn’t face anyone decent until the semi-final.

Ron Vlaar gave the donkey a lesson on how to play as a central defender tonight. His tackling, marking and positioning were flawless. Meanwhile, the donkey was throwing kicks and elbows about because he thinks he can dribble up the pitch like Franco Baresi.

There were so many Groaners talking shit about the awesome Fernandinho last season. To me, Brazil started going down hill the more Felipao played him. City payed more for that turd than what we paid for Alexis Sanchez. And he even waived £4m that his old club owed him. Is that the level our groaners want us to be competing at, where we can throw around so much money on such an ordinary player?

I wanted Brazil to be out in the first round so the protesters could throw the country into chaos while the whole world watched.

    thats very nice of you.

on the luiz matter though i dont know/understand why you insist. youre like the journos who claim wenger doesnt know how to coach defence when it was individual errors causing most of goals.

have busted the myth that luiz was at fault for the german rout. have busted the myth about who is at a better level with a simple look at each player’s achievements, career paths and a success. can further bust the myth with their individual player attributes, technical, physical and mental as well as stats. i dont even have to use the values argument and give ytou a footing to claim about crazy markets.until djourou comes and wins the champions league for us or be a key member in us winning big titles you aint got a foot to stand on.

i understand you may not like luiz or hummels but they are a level or two above your swiss boy and i can prove it while you have nothing. case closed. suggest if you want to look at donkeys you look in the mirror. you might be mad with football like your madrd friend but as george pointed that frankly means f.a…..

  18. Congrats to Germany. To Per, Mesut & Lukas.
Well done for reminding the world about the importance of team work, great organization, perseverance & long term planning.
Without any doubt overall, the BEST TEAM won the WC.
