It really irritates me that for as long as i can remember we have been the club everyone loves to hate. The media have never really been our friends and I do not believe I am being paranoid. But as a supporter of this great club I find it appalling that we have a group of our own so called fans, who deliberately spin and create negativity.
Every injury is the clubs fault. Our medical team are insulted, our coaches are insulted, our scouts are insulted, our manager is insulted and I have seen people wish ill health and worse on him.
Our players are insulted, Giroud gets it by the bucket load and fellow fans who defend the club and offer an alternative opinion get called abusive names. It is very sad because Arsenal is a great club and what we have built with our own money should be celebrated. instead we get the 9 years thrown down our throats. These idiots seem unable to recognise just what a great achievement we made.
The stadium and renewed sponsorship deals have capitulated us into mega club status, which ensures long term competitiveness. The Fifa list of clubs that have abused FFP may provide further proof of just how we have created a monster. Whenever I ask a stadium denier how they think we paid for the stadium and the Highbury redevelopment, they cannot answer. When I ask how many of the 9 years they think we had money to spend, they cannot answer. They use income received from player sales, as meaning we had money to spend. They are clueless.
I watched a football finance show a couple of years back where Cristain Purslow of Liverpool and David Gold of West ham were talking about Wenger and the stadium. Purslow described the stadium move and regular champions league qualification as a miracle. Gold agreed. These are guys who know what they are talking about, not some marketing bloke that writes a blog or Adrian Durham. These are professionals that know how business finance and football works.They understood the problems we faced, the Granada issue, the delays, the fact we not only had to finance the Emirates but also the redevelopment of Highbury. The sponsorship deals that were negotiated on the basis that we were beggars at the time. And the arrival of the oil men. The fact we had a manager that bought into the plan and did not leave because of an over inflated ego that dictated he needed success on the field, like a Mourinho. These problems were being sorted out right smack in the middle of an economic collapse. For an Arsenal supporter to drool over cheque book managers like Ancelotti and Mourinho is truly embarrassing.Wenger and Arsenal were a match made in heaven and we got lucky. The history books will show that.
I am proud of being an Arsenal fan and the way the club conducts itself. I am proud of the fact that we have done things properly and without the aid of a foreign national that has no real interest in the sport, other than the egotistical rewards it provides. I despise the way Chelsea has conducted itself over the years, pretty appalling stuff. Even Maureen gets an easy ride. I just wish Arsenal fans would stick together and put two fingers up to the hacks, ex players and blog writers that seem intent to abuse our great club and anyone displaying what I consider to be true support.
As you can see I am passionate about this subject and the defence of our club. Better get some work done now and a nice cup of tea.

no doubt wenger is right in his goalkeepers. out of the two chesney is the one with the world class potential and of course he promotes him so as to learn and gain experience a lot faster than he normally would, but i agree with you in terms that fabianski at the moment is the more mature and thus the goalkeeper with the better composure. would be a pity to lose fabi though.

Above all, the differences and rivalry between the real supporters.

Well first off, that is a feisty comment/Post straight from the heart Proud Kev, and one you have every reason to be proud of, and it certainly reveals both your passion and frustration.
Northbank mentioned his experiences in the ’70s and said things were different before the internet gave fans, with differing personalities and opinions, the instant access to chat to each other.
‘Don’t light the blue touch paper’ should be printed on every blogsite.
The truth is that society has changed, and the simple enjoyment of going to watch your team kick off at 3 p.m. every other Saturday so you could let off steam, has given way to the need for instant gratification and the dogmatic demand for ‘my rights’.
The blogsites fill the need of many disgruntled fans to let off steam, and air their dissatisfaction with the team, the club, and other fans, often with colourful language.
The blogsites also allow others, with a different disposition, to chat to their hearts content about the ups and downs of their team and the club, with fans who have a shared view about the club.
This process is relatively painless, apart from ruffled feathers when the two ‘sides’ become agitated with each other, but just think, if the internet did not exist this friction between the two factions would inevitably lead to physical confrontation at the Emirates.
We will win the first of many trophies soon, and then the camps will come back together.

One of my pet beefs is spending a lot of money when I occasionally go and watch my team at the Ems and then become a captive, and very unhappy, ‘neighbour’ to some dipstick who happens to have bought the seat next to me, and who simply cannot shut up, and spews out personalised and vile abuse throughout the game.
No matter in what part of the stadium I sit, there is always someone like that.
Hard to stomach.

Gainsborough, I so agree about the vocal minority and the agenda. Spot on. However, this minority of not very bright individuals are given a platform to express their views, unlike the more sensible supporter from the silent majority. The bloke running ‘that’ excuse for a blog, can often be heard spewing his hate on TalkSport, in the Metro or writing for the Daily Mail. He really does rate himself and jumps at any opportunity to promote himself and misrepresent fans and our club. He is given a voice because he says what they want to hear.
It is all a bit too sinister for me, what is his ultimate agenda because it’s not just Wenger he criticises and abuses?

If I may, I would also like to my thoughts on the stadium atmosphere –
We have a team full of show men, I’ve noticed that when the crowd show appreciation for a brave tackle, save or skill, the players thrive off it. They are more confident to shoot, willing to put their bodies on the line and press the opposition.
In contrast when the atmosphere is nervous and negative, it transmits to the players on the field. Players then don’t really want the ball and/or try their best just to get rid of it which results in sloppy play.
The last time I was there, I felt the crowd were consciously trying to support the team and there was a good atmosphere even when we weren’t playing so well.

maybe ..but neither usmanov nor dein want wenger out…they are businessmen, not mad. i think the manager and players got in the crossfire of the hillwood/dein feud and those without a perspective went for the easy target..promoted by media/f.a/sky who have a different agenda ‘whats ours stays ours”.. plus rival trolls mocking the weak-minded about trophyless years, selling club etc…
look dont go to far….in the toughest period/years arsenal ever had to face in their history there were fans who were complaining about optimum seasons and if arsene has a clue in the transfer markets or tactics and moan about trophies etc etc….. humour i suppose

yeah, pity to lose him, but he deserves to play regularly at some club. I think chezsny has some very good games, but sometimes I recall his rebounds just falling to the wrong player (e.g. two of the goals in the everton game).

ProudKev, the funny thing about vocal minorities is they don’t make too much of an impact. All they do is make noise and get those who agree with them wound up. Think about it, Wenger would have been gone years ago if those nitwits mattered. Just sit back, enjoy the fact that you’re around like minded, positive folks and enjoy the ride.

Fabianski is an awesome keeper. Being the understudy to your international colleague is a double whammy. He doesn’t get any exposure at club level nor international level. This being said, I will never forget how horribly him and Almunia were treated by our fans.

One of you clever people will know this. last summer we tried to sign Suarez for 40m, and that didn’t work out. We did sign Ozil for the same money. Given that they are different players, do you think we went for Ozil because we hadn’t got Suarez, or do you think the plan was to get both?
PS Nailing my colours to the mast, I am glad Suarez didn’t work out for us. I totally understand and appreciate those of us who think differently.

I think it is very unlikely that we would or could have signed Suarez and Ozil – it is conceivable that the cash could have been found if Liverpool could have been forced to to settle for £40 million+1. However both players, Suarez especially if he had forced the move, would have expected very attractive wage packets north of £10 million a season. Ozil may well be enjoying that sort of wage at the moment but to commit another £20 million each and every season for three-four- five years is probably a financial commitment too far for a business that lives off its income.
As for Suarez I am with you FH – too high a price to play to have the player in an Arsenal shirt – and a price that has nothing to do with money.

Actually, anicoll5, I disagree that we couldn’t have afforded it, I think you underestimate the amount of money which was freed up by letting go or selling so many players. Some of the new sponsorship payment was brought forward for that purpose. PG’s mate Geoff who seems to have genuine info said that we bid £49m for Suarez. We fans can’t know for sure, of course, but I genuinely believe it was the plan to get both.
